ADOPTED 2022

NAME: BISHOP
BREED: Giant Schnauzer
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born approx. 7/4/18?
WEIGHT: 69#
COLORS: Black, docked tail and natural ears

BIO: Hello everyone. We would like you to meet Bishop. Bishop was picked up as a stray by Detroit Animal Control a couple of months ago. As usual, he was emaciated, a filthy and matted mess, and had to be shaved down in order to clean him up and make him comfortable. We all thought he was a Bouvier, even our vet, but in very poor condition. Because he had to be shaved down completely, we had to wait until his hair started growing in before we figured out he was really a Giant Schnauzer. Bishop is housetrained and walks really well on a leash. Bishop is very vocal and will almost carry on a conversation with you if you let him. He tolerates other dogs and is selective as to which ones he wants to be around. He may have to be an only child – depending on your current dog. Bishop loves to play and absolutely adores children but we would not recommend him with young children. Bishop is very energetic and could accidentally knock down a young child. Bishop is a little on the hyper side and we are working on him taking treats “nice” and not being so grabby. He does not appear to be high prey drive and shows little to no interest in cats. Bishop is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative (and on preventative), neutered and microchipped (with a life-time registration). Bishop is very energetic and loves to run around outside and play. He would be best suited with someone that was athletic and/or energetic. Bishop was a perfect gentleman at the vet’s office. He minds well and aims to please. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Bishop is being fostered at our facility in Imlay City, MI.

**UPDATE: Bishop was adopted 8/27/22 by a very knowledgeable Giant Schnauzer family in Delaware. OH. He will not only have a new forever family, but will be joined by another Giant Schnauzer as well as two Miniature Schnauzers.

NAME: DALLAS
BREED: Shih Tzu
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 2/26/19
WEIGHT: 14#
COLORS: Cream & Beige

BIO: Hi there. My name is Dallas. I am a purebred Shih Tzu. I was surrendered to the rescue along with my companion Rudy. Our Mom passed away very unexpectedly and our Dad was unable to properly take care of us due to his work schedule. Our Mom and Dad loved us to pieces and it was a very difficult decision for our Dad to make. We do not have to be adopted together. I am very friendly and good with other dogs and cats. I lived in a 55 and older Condo Association and I was never exposed to real young children, I am actually afraid of them. Because of that and my size, my new family would have to have children over 10 years old in order to be considered. I do know basic commands and will sit on command. I love going for walks. I would love to just sit and watch TV with you or sit on your lap while you worked/played on the computer. I am house and crate trained. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm tested and on preventative and micro-chipped with a lifetime registration. I really miss my Mom, we were her everything – and she was ours. So if you are looking for a small, loving and faithful companion to spend time with, I could be the answer to your prayers. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Dallas is being fostered at our facility in Almont, MI.

**UPDATE: Dallas was adopted 10/15/22 by a very loving woman in Davison, MI. They both lost the loves of their lives a couple of months ago. Now they can both find love and comfort in each other’s arms and paws.

NAME Ella
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 9/20/17
WEIGHT: 80#
COLOR: Dark Gray Brindle, docked and cropped

BIO: Hi there, please meet Ella. Ella was purchased from her breeder by one of our previous adopters in November of 2021. Ella was most likely returned to the breeder when she was four years old (for reasons unknown to us) and resold. Ella was surrendered by her former owner because she did not get along with his elderly cat. Ella is very intelligent. She loves playing with tennis balls and will fetch and bring the ball back to you for as long as you will throw it. Ella is house trained and walks fairly well on a leash when harnessed. Ella had to be brought UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested and put on heartworm preventative as soon as we received her. Not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues.

UPDATE: Ella was adopted 5/4/22 by one of our repeat offenders in Grand Rapids, MI. Ella never even made it up on our website because her Mom was on our waiting list and this was a match made in heaven. Ironically Ella and her new Forever Mom share the same birth date.

NAME: JACKIE (Jacqueline)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 6/20/17
WEIGHT: 87#
COLORS: Dark Gray Brindle, docked tail and natural ears

BIO: Hello everyone. We would like you to meet Jackie. Jackie was surrendered to us along with her sister Leanne. Their former owner was homeless and had been living in her vehicle for some time with both dogs. She couldn’t find anywhere to live that she could afford and where she could keep her two Bouviers. She was trying to stay in rest areas for the shade and safety, but was afraid they would perish from heat stroke from being confined in a car 24/7. When we took them in they were both overweight/obese from lack of proper food and exercise. Jackie weighed 97#, and has lost 10# so far. Because of their size, we had their thyroid levels checked just in case (because Bouviers’ are prone to having thyroid disease) and the levels came back fine. They just needed a balanced diet and exercise. We did have to shave them down because they desperately needed sanitary cuts and both had UTI’s and urine burns from the wet matted hair. They are both UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative (and on preventative), spayed and microchipped (with a life-time registration). They are both housetrained and walk fairly well on a leash. They get along great with other animals and absolutely adore kids. We would not recommend them with real young children. Because of their size they could accidently knock down a young child. They do not appear to be high prey drive and show little to no interest in cats. They both mind well and would turn themselves inside out to make you happy. They do not have to be adopted together but I am sure they would love to have a canine companion. So, if you are looking for a loving and faithful companion to spend time with, one of these girls could be the answer to your prayers. Jackie is more outgoing than Leanne and is also more vocal. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Jackie is being fostered at our facility in Imlay City, MI.

**UPDATE: Jackie was adopted 9/29/22 by very loving and knowledgeable Bouvier owner in Troy, Michigan. Jackie not only has a new Forever Mom, but also has a fawn Bouvier Brother for companionship.

NAME: LEANNE
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 6/20/17
WEIGHT: 106#
COLORS: Dark Gray Brindle, docked tail and natural ears

BIO: Hello everyone. We would like you to meet Leanne. Leanne was surrendered to us along with her sister Jackie. Their former owner was homeless and had been living in her vehicle for some time with the dogs. Leanne weighed 119#, and has lost 13# so far. They do not have to be adopted together but I am sure she would love to have a canine companion. So, if you are looking for a loving and faithful companion to spend time with, one of these girls could be the answer to your prayers. Leanne is more laid back than Jackie and would be perfectly content laying a t your feet while you watch TV or work on the computer. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Leanne is being fostered at our facility in Imlay City, MI.

**UPDATE: Leanne was adopted 10/10/22 by a phenomenal family in Westland, MI. It was love at first sight. As soon as they got out of the car she went running over with her nubby little tail wagging. They got down on the ground with her and loved and petted her and she soaked up every second of it.

NAME: LUCAS
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 5/5/17
WEIGHT: 112#
COLORS: Black, docked tail and natural ears

BIO: Hello everyone. We would like you to meet Lucas. Lucas & Mishka are a pair of bonded siblings. They were surrendered to us by an elderly couple that were moving out of the country. As much as they were loved, their former owners did not feel it would be in the dog’s best interest to fly them to the pineapple state. These two are inseperable and we agreed that we would NOT split them up in order to adopt them, so please do not even ask us to consider it. Lucas is housetrained and walks well on leash. He gets along great with other animals and absolutely adores kids. As mellow as he is and because of his size, we would not recommend him with young children. He is not high prey drive and appears to show little to no interest in cats. Lucas is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative (and on preventative), neutered and microchipped. Because of his size, we had his thyroid checked just in case (Bouviers’ are prone to having thyroid disease) and the levels came back fine. Lucas is very energetic and loves to run around outside and play. Lucas is a big boy. The vet doesn’t feel he is overweight at all. Lucas is larger than his sister, Mishka. He is her companion and will always look out for her. He has such a fantastic personality. He was a perfect gentleman at the vets office. Lucas minds well and aims to please. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Lucas is located at our facility in Imlay City, MI.

**UPDATE: Lucas, along with his sister Mishka, was adopted 7/8/22 by a phenomenal couple from Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The “Dynamic Duo”, as we love to call them, had no reservations whatsoever when meeting their new Mom & Dad. They joined their new Rough Coated Collie “brother”, 12yro cat, 14yro two-legged sister and Grand Dog Mother, who has also been owned by Bouviers. They made it home with no problems and we have already received pictures of them chilling out on their dog beds.

NAME: Mishka
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 5/5/17
WEIGHT: 95#

Because of her size, we had her thyroid checked just in case (Bouviers’ are prone to having thyroid disease) and the levels came back fine. Her former Dad used to give her pork rinds as a treat and she loved them. However she was considered obese by our vet when we took her in and managed to shave about ten pounds off of her with proper food and treats. For her build, she could probably lose at least another five pounds ?. Upon further examination, we also found that Mishka has Entropion Eyelid on her left eye. She is scheduled for surgery on 6/20/22. Mishka is fairly laid back is a real cuddle bug. She loves to be touched and petted. She is perfectly fine laying her head on your feet when you are standing or sitting or watching TV. She does not have as much stamina as her brother but no matter where he is or what he is doing, she has to have sight of him or she gets very anxious. Now that we got some weight off of her, she does have more ambition. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Mishka is located at our facility in Imlay City, MI.

BIO: Well, hello there. My name is Rudy. I was surrendered to the rescue along with my companion Dallas. Our Mom passed away very unexpectedly and our Dad was unable to properly take care of us due to his work schedule. We do not have to be adopted together.
