NAME: DIXIE BREED: Cairn Terrier (mix?) GENDER: Female (spayed) AGE: Born 8/21/12 WEIGHT: 35# COLOR: Cream BIO: Hi there, my name is Dixie. My elderly owner, who could no longer take care of me, gave me to a woman that was going to be my new forever Mom. A couple weeks after getting me, she decided to give me away to anyone that wanted me because she was supposedly allergic to me. A very kind woman decided to take me in for fear that if she didn’t I would just end up as another “free” statistic, especially around Christmas. She was also looking for a companion for her younger little dog and was hoping I would fit the bill. She fell madly in love with me, however I am a little too dominant for her younger dog, and she feels that it would be in everyone’s best interest if I was adopted out as an “only child”. There hasn’t been any aggression, it’s just obvious that we are not happy being together. My hair is normally longer, but I was just recently groomed for these pictures. I am good around children 8 and up for sure but do not know about younger children. I am house-trained (I do know how to use a doggie-door), UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. I am not afraid of strangers and I absolutely love car rides and to snuggle. I do not play a lot, but do love chewing on my bones and toys. So, if you are looking for a loving and faithful companion to share your heart and home with, I just might be your girl. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. (Extenuating circumstances may apply). I am currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. Not sure if cat friendly. **UPDATE: Dixie was adopted 1/4/2020 by a wonderful family in Westland, MI. |

NAME: EMBER BREED: Staffordshire Terrier Puppy GENDER: Female (intact) AGE: Born 12/18/19 COLOR: White & Blue WEIGHT: 12.6 # BIO: Hi there, please meet Ember. Ember was found in a snow filled ditch on the side of the road. She was either dumped, or somehow wandered off. When she was found she was only about five weeks old. At first we were afraid she might have been suffering from being frost-bitten. We have no idea what her background or story was, we just knew she needed to be saved. She will be UTD on appropriate vaccinations and the adopter must sign a spay/neuter agreement in order to adopt her. She is going to be a stocky girl when full grown because she is as solid as a bull at such a young age. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Ember. She is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. **UPDATE: Ember was adopted on 2/16/20 when she was nine weeks old by a very loving family in Lake Orion, MI. They have had Staffies in the past and are very knowledgeable about the breed. |

NAME: NAME: MAYA BREED: Norwegian Elkhound or Norwegian Buhund (mix?) GENDER: Female (spayed) AGE: 1 yro WEIGHT: 33# COLOR: Wheaten, cream & silver w/black muzzle & ears. Erect ears & curled tail BIO: Hi there, please meet Maya. She was found running loose around Almont, MI a couple of months ago. The person that found Maya decided to keep her as a companion for her puppy, but her puppy wanted no part of Maya. Maya gets along fine with most other dogs and loves to play with older children. Maya is very intelligent and wants to please. She is house-trained, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm tested (negative) and on heartworm, flea and tick preventative. Maya walks well on a leash and does well with car rides. Maya is very alert and attentive. When you first meet her, you have to let her welcome you into her space. Once she has accepted you, she is an absolute love bug. Maya is also a talker (sometimes almost sounds like a yodel). Maya is still young and very trainable. She does know basic commands. Maya does have a double coat and will require brushing and/or combing. So if you are looking for a medium sized dog that has a whole lot of love to offer, Maya just might be your girl. Maya is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Not cat friendly. UPDATE: Maya was adopted 7/15/20 by a wonderful young couple in Lansing, MI. Maya’s new Mom is studying to be a veterinarian and works in a vet’s office now. |

NAME: TATER BREED: Boxer / Shepherd mix. GENDER:Male (neutered) AGE: Born 2/17/19 COLOR: Tan w/white & black facial markings WEIGHT:50# BIO: Hi there, please meet Tater. He was originally adopted when he was only seven weeks old from a shelter in Flint, MI, by a young man that lived with his mother. He spent his life outside, chained up and receiving little to no attention. We were notified that the mother had no interest in taking care of or keeping this puppy. When we found out that the dog was going to be taken to a kill shelter, we stepped in. Tater is really a good boy considering his rough beginning. Tater gets along fantastic with other dogs and absolutely loves to play with children. Tater does walk well on a leash and does know basic commands. He is house-trained, UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative and micro-chipped. Tater’s foster Mom says he is a real character. Her entire family interacts and plays with him and he is having the time of his life. So, if you are looking for a new best friend, faithful and loving companion, he could definitely be your guy. Tater is young enough that you will get everything out of him that you are willing to put into him, plus more. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Tater. He is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. **UPDATE: Tater was adopted 3/23/20 by a very loving family in Novi, MI. Today was the day Tater has been patiently waiting for. He looks so smitten in his picture and proud of himself :-) |
