BIO: Hi there, my name is Dixie. My elderly owner, who could no longer take care of me, gave me to a woman that was going to be my new forever Mom. A couple weeks after getting me, she decided to give me away to anyone that wanted me because she was supposedly allergic to me. A very kind woman decided to take me in for fear that if she didn’t I would just end up as another “free” statistic, especially around Christmas. She was also looking for a companion for her younger little dog and was hoping I would fit the bill. She fell madly in love with me, however I am a little too dominant for her younger dog, and she feels that it would be in everyone’s best interest if I was adopted out as an “only child”. There hasn’t been any aggression, it’s just obvious that we are not happy being together. My hair is normally longer, but I was just recently groomed for these pictures. I am good around children 8 and up for sure but do not know about younger children. I am house-trained (I do know how to use a doggie-door), UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. I am not afraid of strangers and I absolutely love car rides and to snuggle. I do not play a lot, but do love chewing on my bones and toys. So, if you are looking for a loving and faithful companion to share your heart and home with, I just might be your girl. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. (Extenuating circumstances may apply). I am currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. Not sure if cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Dixie was adopted 1/4/2020 by a wonderful family in Westland, MI.

BIO: Hi there, my name is Elvis. I was surrendered by my family because my Mom had to be placed in a nursing facility and there were no family members able to take me in. Who says big things don’t come in small packages? As my namesakes’ song goes:” I’m a hunka, hunka burning love!!” I get along fantastic with other dogs and absolutely love to play with children. I do walk well on a leash and I do know basic commands. Because I am so small and breakable, it is not recommended that my new family has real small children. I am completely housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, on preventative and micro-chipped. When the rescue took me to their vet to have me vaccinated and microchipped, the vet found a small mass on my back and it was removed and the biopsy was negative. The vet also noted that I had a severe dental problem and they ended up removing 24 of my teeth. The vet couldn’t get over how much pain I must have been in and yet I was still such a wonderful and happy-go-lucky dog. My foster Mom says that I am just an absolute love bug and knows that I will make that special family very happy to have adopted me. I just love to cuddle and go for walks. I will dance around on my hind legs pumping my front paws trying to entice you into picking me up. The rescue is looking for that “very special” family to adopt me. Because of the trauma of losing my “Mom”, plus the trauma of the surgery and extensive dental surgery that was performed, it is going to be very hard for them to let go of me. My Foster Mom would be more than happy to keep me, no questions asked. But if there is someone out there that needs me as much as I need them; and that has as much love to offer me as I have to offer them, she is willing to let me go. I would make a perfect “only child” or would get along great with a canine or feline companion. I only have two requirements: two loving arms to hold me and a nice warm lap. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. I am cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Elvis has officially left the building!!! He was adopted 2/22/20 by a very loving family in Monroe, MI. He not only has a new Forever Family, he has a 9yro junior master that he has fallen in love with already. This was Elvis’ lucky day. We just knew that the right family would come along that needed him as much as he needed them.

BIO: Hi there, please meet Ember. Ember was found in a snow filled ditch on the side of the road. She was either dumped, or somehow wandered off. When she was found she was only about five weeks old. At first we were afraid she might have been suffering from being frost-bitten. We have no idea what her background or story was, we just knew she needed to be saved. She will be UTD on appropriate vaccinations and the adopter must sign a spay/neuter agreement in order to adopt her. She is going to be a stocky girl when full grown because she is as solid as a bull at such a young age. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Ember. She is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI.
**UPDATE: Ember was adopted on 2/16/20 when she was nine weeks old by a very loving family in Lake Orion, MI.
They have had Staffies in the past and are very knowledgeable about the breed.
BREED: Boxer / Shepherd mix.
AGE: Born 2/17/19

BIO: Hi there, please meet Tater. He was originally adopted when he was only seven weeks old from a shelter in Flint, MI, by a young man that lived with his mother. He spent his life outside, chained up and receiving little to no attention. We were notified that the mother had no interest in taking care of or keeping this puppy. When we found out that the dog was going to be taken to a kill shelter, we stepped in. Tater is really a good boy considering his rough beginning. Tater gets along fantastic with other dogs and absolutely loves to play with children. Tater does walk well on a leash and does know basic commands. He is house-trained, UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative and micro-chipped. Tater’s foster Mom says he is a real character. Her entire family interacts and plays with him and he is having the time of his life. So, if you are looking for a new best friend, faithful and loving companion, he could definitely be your guy. Tater is young enough that you will get everything out of him that you are willing to put into him, plus more. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Tater. He is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI.
**UPDATE: Tater was adopted 3/23/20 by a very loving family in Novi, MI. Today was the day Tater has been patiently waiting for. He looks so smitten in his picture and proud of himself :-)
