NAME: BEAR BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered-see below) AGE: Born 1/4/08 COLOR: Black –natural ears & docked tail WEIGHT: 115# BIO: Hi there, please meet Bear (on YOUR right in top picture). He was surrendered, along with his brother Beast, to SCBR 8/25/15. Ironically, Bear was smaller than Beast as a puppy, but ended up being bigger as he matured. It would be fantastic if we could find a home for both of them together – but if absolutely necessary we are willing to separate them. They both get along fantastic with people, other dogs and mature children. Because of their size we will not adopt either one out to a family with young children. They are completely housetrained and very well mannered. No one, not even the vets, think they look or act like seven year olds. They are both very healthy, sound and solid dogs. They mind very well and are just absolute love bugs. Whoever adopts either or both of these boys will be getting a fantastic companion. They are not nuisance barkers, but they will let you know if someone strange is at the door. They are both scheduled to be neutered on 9/9/15 so they will not be available to go home for at least one week following their surgery. Because they are both such phenomenal boys we wanted to get them up on the website so that we would have ample time to carefully screen all interested parties. If you are interested, please do not hesitate to go to our website and fill out an online adoption application. Bear and Beast are what dreams are made of when it comes to adopting a Bouvier. They are both UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt either one of them. They are currently being fostered at our foster facility in Imlay City MI. Probably not cat friendly. UPDATE: Bear was adopted 10/16/15 by a fantastic “repeat offender” from Ogden, UT. His new “Forever Dad” flew in, rented a vehicle and came to pick Bear and Beast up together for their long ride home. Here is a picture of Bear (on your left) with his Dad and brother, Beast. |

NAME: BILLY BREED: Labrador Retriever GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 8/1/10 COLOR: Black WEIGHT: 69.2# BIO: Hi there, my name is Billy. I was surrendered to SCBR because my Mom’s job keeps her away from home 10-12 hours a day. My Mom adopted me in 2011 to be a companion for her and her other Lab. I am the friendliest and sweetest do you will ever meet. I would be awesome with children because I am very submissive and gentle. I am housetrained, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I love to be petted and cuddled. My tail is constantly wagging. I love to play outside. I get along great with other dogs, and do have a tendency to run after and chase wild critters. That is why you must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI. Not cat friendly. **UPDATE: Billy was adopted 3/14/15 by very loving couple in Hazel Park, MI. He not only has a new "forever" Mom & Dad, but also has a 6yro Black Lab sister named Maggie to lavish his love on. Adoption picture to follow. |

NAME: KALEEN BREED: Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) mix GENDER: Female (spayed) AGE: Born 10/1/14 COLOR: Tri-color WEIGHT: 31# BIO: Hi there, please meet Kaleen. She was surrendered to SCBR on 10/19/15 by her original family because they could not live up to her energy level. Isn’t she gorgeous!!! Kaleen is crate trained, UTD on all vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and spayed. Because she was mostly kept outdoors by her original family and then indoors once we took her in, she may require a refresher course on house training. Her foster Mom has pretty much gotten her on a schedule now, but it will have to be tweaked to accommodate her new family’s schedule once adopted. She is very neat and clean in the house and her crate. According to her foster Mom, Kaleen is a wonderful little girl. She loves kids and gets along great with other dogs her size and energy level. Kaleen is not a “couch potato”, but is very calm in the house. She has the typical herding dog personality. She is exceptionally intelligent, obedient and trainable and catches on very quickly. Because she was allowed to chase small animals she may not be a perfect candidate if you have a cat. Kaleen’s new family must have either another dog her size and energy level and/or older children that are willing and able to go outside and run and play with her. Kaleen would be a perfect candidate for agility training. If you are looking for a loving companion , walking partner and cuddler, Kaleen is your girl. She has a very loving personality, loves to play and would make a fantastic addition to your family. Kaleen also loves car rides and long walks. If you are interested in opening up your heart and home to this very sweet little girl, you will not regret it. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Kaleen. Kaleen is currently being fostered in Almont, MI. **UPDATE: Kaleen was adopted 12/20/15 by a fantastic family in Interlochen, MI. Here is a picture of Kaleen with her new Forever Mom & Dad as well as her new brother, Oscar. |

NAME: MATEO (formerly Memphis) BREED: Rottweiler GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 2/10/14 COLOR: Black & Brown, docked tail WEIGHT: 95#+ BIO: Hi there, my name is Mateo (formerly known as Memphis). I was surrendered to SCBR because my family felt that as young as I was, and still had some growing to do, I was too big for their lifestyle. I have a bad habit of jumping up on people and it was getting to be a worry with the smaller children. I am very active and would be best suited with a family that is willing to teach me basic ground rules. I love to play and I get along great with older children and other dogs. I am very loving and would make a perfect companion for someone that is willing to train me. I am housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. I am most likely not cat friendly. **UPDATE: Mateo was adopted 5/23/15 by a fantastic family in Grayling, MI. They fell in love with his picture and his personality and came right down to meet him. He has fit right in to their family and they have already taught him not to jump on people. They love him to death and he is just so happy with them that there are no words to describe it |

.NAME: MAX (renamed LEDLEY) BREED: Beagle GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 10/17/14 COLOR: Tri-Color WEIGHT: 25# BIO: Hi there, my name is Max. Am I not the cutest little Beagle you have ever seen – or what? I was surrendered to SCBR because my former owner was unable to care for me any longer and wanted what was best for me. I was raised in a suburban neighborhood which made it hard for me to get the opportunity to run freely. My foster Mom says that I am the “perfect Beagle”, but does not believe I would make a good hunting dog. I am house trained and crate trained. I have been having the time of my life at my foster Mom’s because I get to run free in a huge fenced in area with many other dogs as well as the family goat. I absolutely love other dogs, size does not matter. I am great with children and people in general. I was born to play and just love life. So if you are looking for a very loving and attentive companion, look no further - I am your boy. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI. I am cat tolerant (curious but no negative reactions) – I even went nose-to-nose with a cat and never tried to bite it – but probably would have chased it if given the opportunity. **UPDATE: Max was adopted 9/12/15 by a very loving man from Sterling Heights, MI (see bottom pic). Max not only has a new forever Dad, but also a Puggle named Klima to run and play with. |

NAME: NELLIE BREED: Chihuahua (possible Chiweenie – Chihuahua & Dachshund mix?) GENDER: Female (spayed) AGE: 1/10/14 COLOR: Black/tan/white WEIGHT: 11# BIO: Hi there, please meet Nellie. She was surrendered to SCBR because her owner passed away and none of the family members wanted to keep her. We think she was abused by her former owners son who didn’t want her, to the extent that he put Nellie and his deceased Mother's cat in the car and took them for a one-way ride and dropped them both off to fend for themselves. Regretfully the cat never came back, but miraculously Nellie found her way back home, she never would have survived with as cold as the weather was. When the son was bragging about what he had done someone took Nellie in and turned her over to us. Nellie had never been properly socialized, but due to the love and care of her foster Mom she has come out of her shell. She is learning to trust people and the other animals very quickly. Nellie is a very good girl and loves to follow her foster Mom around. She loves her foster Dad but is more comfortable with her foster Mom. She loves walks, car rides and has been having the time of her life playing with her foster Mom’s other foster dogs. She just flies around the house playing with the other dogs. She is fast and fun and loves playing with her foster Mom also. Nellie did chase the groomer’s cats but never caught one, so we don't know how she would be with cats for sure. Nellie loves to play, especially with a tug toy. Nellie is still very young, so she does need people to take time with her. Due to the suspected prior abuse Nellie is still a bit leery, especially around men, but once she trusts you she is all wiggles. Nellie is a very fast learner, and just wants to please. Nellie is housetrained and crate trained (thanks to her foster Mom). Nellie is an absolute doll baby and she even smiles. Because of Nellie’s size she would not be suitable with children under 10yrs old. The ideal home would be a house with older kids and active parents or just active parents and another dog for companionship. Nellie is looking for a forever home where someone will spend time with her to build her confidence. A home where she won’t be crated and left alone all day long. .If you want a lap dog/cuddle bug/toe warmer in be with you – Nellie is your girl. If you are interested in opening your heart and home to this very sweet little girl, you will not regret it. She will bark at new people and follow them around – even her foster Dad gets barked at every day. She has never shown any aggression towards any one, never growled or tried to bite. The only thing she might get a little possessive over might be a toy or food. Nellie is micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccinations, spayed and heart worm tested negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Nellie. Nellie is currently being fostered in Almont, MI. **UPDATE: Nellie was adopted 4/10/15 by a very loving & compassionate family in Romeo, MI. They just recently had to say goodbye to the dog they adopted previously after financially exhausting themselves trying to save him. A match made in heaven. |

NAME: NOELLE BREED: Maltese (mix?) GENDER: Female AGE: Born 4/17/10 COLOR: White WEIGHT: 6.6# BIO: Please meet precious little Noelle. Noelle was surrendered to SCBR’s groomer the night of 12/9/15 by a family that was homeless and unable to take care of her. Noelle was in such sad shape when she came in that our groomer had to work her magic (as usual) so that Noelle was presentable enough to even be taken to our vet. Her teeth were in deplorable condition, what little hair she had was so badly matted it had to be taken off, and her ears and tail were void of hardly any hair at all. Noelle is litter box trained and crate trained, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccinations and tested Heartworm negative. Because her mouth was so severely infected this little munchkin had to have a complete dental and removal of quite a few of her teeth. She had to endure quite a few blood tests and skin scrapings before we could even have her spayed or vaccinated. What a little trooper she turned out to be. She melted every heart that came in contact with her. Noelle never made it to our “adoptable” page because there were many people interested in her prior to us making her available for adoption. **UPDATE: Noelle was adopted 12/29/15 by a very loving family in Dryden, MI – that had adopted another dog from us previously. As you can tell, her Forever Dad was a lot more camera shy than she was. She posed proudly in her cute little pink sweater in her new Daddy’s arms. |

NAME: Pepper (renamed MAX) BREED: Miniature Schnauzer GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 4/26/15 COLOR: Salt/Pepper WEIGHT: 14# BIO: Hi everyone, please meet Pepper. Isn’t he just as cute as a button? Pepper was surrendered to SCBR by a very nice family that could no longer keep him. Pepper is house trained and crate trained. He is an excellent puppy with very high energy – but due to his age he is lacking good manners. His former owners did not have him that long and he is so young, but he is a typical Miniature Schnauzer puppy. We are sure that in the right home and with adequate training he will make someone a very loving companion. Because of his size we will not adopt him out to a family with young children. Pepper is UTD on all vaccinations and we will be getting him micro-chipped. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues. Pepper is currently being fostered in Almont, MI. **UPDATE: Pepper was adopted 9/28/15 by a very loving Miniature Schnauzer savvy couple in New Baltimore, MI. How precious is this picture. Everybody is smiling. |

NAME: SAMSON (Sammy) BREED: Labrador Retriever GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 6/12/10 COLOR: Black WEIGHT: 80# BIO: Hi there, my name is Samson (but I like to be called “Sammy”). I was surrendered to SCBR because my Mom’s job keeps her away from home 10-12 hours a day. My birth parents are national bird hunting champions. I am very exuberant and would be best suited around mature/older children and adults. I get along great with people and other dogs. I would fit right in with a family that likes the outdoors. I am very obedient and I listen very intently. I love to play with balls and love fetching and retrieving. I am very loving and I live to please my owner. I am housetrained, micro-chipped, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. When I was surrendered to SCBR they noticed that I was favoring one of my rear legs and was immediately taken to a specialist for evaluation. It was discovered that I required a very expensive (TPLO) surgery and lengthy recovery period due to the length of time that my injury went untreated by my former owners. Well, I have finally healed with flying colors and have surpassed the surgeon’s expectations to a full recovery. This was all due to my caregiver’s very diligent regard to my rehab and exercise regimen. I live and breathe tennis balls and toys, but due to my injury have been unable to enjoy this activity. I am SO looking forward to being adopted by a family that will give me the adequate exercise and play time that I have been longing for. Samson is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. Cat tolerant – but not necessarily cat friendly. **UPDATE: Samson was adopted on 9/18/15 by a phenomenal family in Clawson, MI. Samson not only has a new, loving forever family - he also has a Lab/Pointer brother about the same age to run and play with. This adoption was a long time coming for Samson - but we wanted to make sure that he came through his surgery and recovery with flying colors before adopting him to his new forever home. |

NAME: TIMMY BREED: Chihuahua/Dachsund (Chiweenie) mix GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Approx. 2½ yro COLOR: Tan & white WEIGHT: 8# BIO: Hi there, please meet Timmy. He was rescued from his owner due to a Facebook listing stating that he barked too much and had to be taken immediately or was going to the pound. His Foster Mom says that he is an absolute angel and has no problem at all with barking. Poor little Timmy probably just was begging for some love and attention. Timmy is perfectly house-trained and crate-trained. Timmy is NOT your typical shaky, scared, yappy, whiney little dog. He gets along fantastic with people, dogs and cats. Because of his size we do not recommend that he goes to a household with children under the age of eight or exceptionally large dogs – he is too tiny and breakable. For some strange reason the people shaved him down to almost bare skin. Who knows why, he doesn’t have any skin problems or fleas that the vet could see. He loves to cuddle and will follow you everywhere you go. Timmy is scheduled to be neutered on 11/27/15 and will be available to go home the first week in December. Timmy’s Foster Mom cannot understand why his prior owners wanted to get rid of him – she just loves him to death and says he is perfect in every way. If you are interested in opening your heart and home to this very sweet little boy, you will not regret it. He may be tiny, but he has a heart the size of Texas and will make someone a very loving and devoted companion. Timmy is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Timmy. Timmy is currently being fostered in Almont, MI. **UPDATE: Timmy was adopted 12/13/15 by a very loving and compassionate woman in Southfield, MI. Timmy met his new Forever Mom with licks and kisses - a match made in heaven. |

NAME: WILEY BREED: Border Collie / Beagle mix GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 8/13/10 COLOR: Tri-colored WEIGHT: 34.4# BIO: Well hello there, my name is Wiley. I was surrendered to SCBR because I am another fatality of divorce. I am completely house-trained, crate-trained, UTD on all vaccinations, micro-chipped and heartworm negative. I was raised with a set of twins and get along great with children, adults and other dogs. I was tried with cats (my herding instinct tells me that if it runs, I must chase it; but I don’t think I would hurt a cat if I did catch it). My foster Mom will be introducing me to her chickens – we’ll see how that turns out. I am a very smart boy. I can be exuberant in play, but settle right down when I get in the house. My foster Mom would love to keep me – she says I am the “perfect dog”. But instead she wants to be my “stepping stone” to a new forever home where I will be loved and cherished. I have so much love and happiness to share. So if you are looking for the love of your life – please consider me. I promise to never divorce or abandon you when things get rough – I know only too well how that feels, and I will always be there for you. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI. Not cat friendly. **UPDATE: Wiley was officially adopted 4/1/15 by his former foster Mom in Almont, MI. She is going to have him trained as a therapy dog. |

NAME: ZIMBA BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 1/21/13 COLOR: Dark Gray Brindle –natural ears & tail WEIGHT: 110# BIO: Hi there, please meet Zimba. He was originally surrendered to SCBR 5/18/13 along with his two brothers, two sisters and a 22 month old female kennel mate (all with natural ears and tails). None of these dogs were ever socialized or housetrained and had never seen grass. They were all extremely terrified of everyone and everything when we originally took possession of them. Zimba was adopted immediately by a very loving woman in IN that also had an older Bouvier. Zimba’s Mom made fantastic improvements to turn his life around. Zimba is a little over two years old. He was extremely shy and not housebroken when adopted, but with a lot of love, patience and understanding Zimba has excelled tremendously since being adopted. He is much more outgoing and trusting, even with strangers. Regretfully there were major health issues with a family member and Zimba and his family had to relocate to a condo that doesn’t allow fencing and/or large dogs. If you are looking for a puppy that is outrageously playful, housebroken, and filled with vim and vigor, then Zimba is the boy for you. Hopefully you will have a bit of land that he can enjoy and even take joyful rolls in the grass. Zimba is happy to just romp, explore and be given affection. Zimba’s family is just heartbroken that they cannot keep him and are simply devastated knowing they had to let him go. They just wanted the best for their adorable, fun-loving companion. If you are interested in opening your heart and home to this very sweet "little" boy, you will not regret it. As far as we know he is cat tolerant – but not necessarily cat friendly. Zimba is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and micro-chipped. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Zimba. Zimba is currently being fostered at our foster facility in Imlay City MI. **After being surrendered back to us we found out that Zimba required Patella surgery which was scheduled for 9/4/15. He will not be available for adoption for at least a couple of months following his surgery **UPDATE: Zimba finally got to go home today, 11/5/15, with his very patient, loving and understanding Mom in Ann Arbor, MI. Zimba’s new Forever Mom has been anxiously waiting for two months for this glorious day to finally arrive. It was love at first sight for the both of them. |
