NAME: AXEL (renamed BOOMER) BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (must be neutered at six months) AGE: Born 1/21/13 COLOR: Dark gray brindle, natural ears, natural tail WEIGHT: 22# BIO: Hi everybody, please meet Axel. Axel was surrendered to us along with his two brothers, two sisters and a 22 month old female (intact) kennel mate. None of these pups were socialized or housetrained and acted like they had never been on grass before. They were all extremely terrified, it took us about a half hour to catch each one of them after we let them out of the crate they arrived in. They all were having the time of their lives running with Steffie and playing "catch me if you can" with us. Once we caught them and held them individually in our arms they melted like butter. **UPDATE: On 5/22/13 Axel, was adopted by a very loving family from Sobieski, WI. The top picture was taken after his third bath on the day we got him and the bottom was taken after he was bathed and groomed by our groomer the day he went home. All the pups were a filthy, matted mess and we had to give them a bath in order to transport them back to our boarding facility. But as you can see - he cleaned up good - and sure smelled better. |

NAME: BINDY (renamed BRINDY) BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Female (must be spayed at six months) AGE: Born 1/21/13 COLOR: Dark gray brindle, natural ears, natural tail WEIGHT: 18# BIO: Hi everybody, please meet Bindy. Bindy was surrendered to us along with her sister, three brothers, and a 22 month old female (intact) kennel mate. **UPDATE: On 5/23/13 Bindy, was adopted by a very loving and caring family from Reed City, MI. The top picture was taken after her third bath on the day we got her and the bottom was taken after she was bathed and groomed by our groomer the day she went home. All the pups were a filthy, matted mess and we had to give them a bath in order to transport them back to our boarding facility. But as you can see - she cleaned up good - and sure smelled better. Bindy is definitely the most timid of all of the pups, but is a definite cuddle-bug. |

NAME: BRUNO BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: 2.5yro (approx.) COLOR: Reverse Silver brindle, docked tail, natl ears WEIGHT: 100# BIO: Please meet Bruno. Bruno was rescued along with his brother Jack from a high-kill shelter in Louisvylle, KY by LMAS. Bruno has been neutered, heartworm tested and on preventative and UTD on all vaccinations. When these boys were taken in they were so matted and filthy that they removed over 6# of crud from Bruno and 8# from his brother Jack. They get along great with each other and tested great with our other dogs. The top picture was taken a week after we rescued Bruno when he weighed 73#. The middle picture was taken 8/20/13 with his caregivers two young children when he weighed 90#. Bruno gets along fabulously with children as well as adults. He loves to go on walks and loves playing with the children and all the other dogs at our facility. Because Bruno is a big boy, and will get even bigger as time goes by, we would not recommend he go to a home with children under 6 years old. He is such a love-bug and cuddler he doesn't realize his own size and could topple a toddler unintentionally. Bruno bonds very quickly with children as well as adults. Bruno has a fantastic personality. His heart is as big as his appetite. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues (we will not accept electric or invisible fences). Bruno is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. Not cat-friendly. **UPDATE: Bruno was adopted 10/4/13 by a phenomenal woman from Denver, CO. Bruno actually picked her. He came out of the kennel, walked right by everyone else and went straight to her without any hesitation. It was love at first sight. She flew in from CO, we took her out to the foster facility for a meet & greet, she rented a mini-van and came back the following week to pick Bruno and Onyx up and drove them back to their new forever home in Denver, CO. This was a match made in heaven. |

NAME: GRACIE BREED: Bouvier des Flanders GENDER: Female (will be spayed) AGE: Born 8/26/10 WEIGHT: 51# COLOR: Dark gray brindle, docked, natural ears BIO: Gracie was surrendered to us along with her sister, Greta, and brother, Barry, the last weekend in June. She was surrendered due to the death of one of her owners and health and financial problems of her other owner. Gracie is a very sweet girl but due to lack of attention very shy around strangers. She is good with other dogs and older children. She was raised in a kennel situation and should be very easy to housetrain. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard (not invisible fence or electric) in order to adopt any of our rescues. She will be UTD on all vaccinations, spayed and heartworm tested prior to adoption. Most likely she is not cat friendly. **UPDATE: Gracie was adopted 6/30/13 by a very loving and compassionate gentleman (repeat offender) in Kalamazoo, MI. She was adopted the same day we took her in "as is" and went home to join her new Bouvier sister Lindsey. Because she was so filthy, emaciated and dehydrated she will be spayed as soon as she is medically fit to withstand the surgery. Gracie was infested with hook & whip worms and is being treated by her new Dad to get rid of the worms. |

NAME: GRETA BREED: Bouvier des Flanders GENDER: Female (will be spayed prior to adoption) AGE: Born 8/26/10 WEIGHT: 43#(when rescued) 70# (when adopted) COLOR: Light gray brindle, docked, natural ears BIO: Greta was surrendered to us along with her sister, Gracie, and brother, Barry, the last weekend in June. She was surrendered due to the death of one of her owners and health and financial problems of her other owner. Greta is a very sweet girl but due to lack of attention is very shy around strangers. She is good with other dogs and older children. She was raised in a kennel situation and should be very easy to housetrain. Greta was emaciated, dehydrated, covered in feces and completely un-socialized when we took her in. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard (not invisible fence or electric) in order to adopt any of our rescues. She is UTD on all vaccinations, spayed, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative. Most likely she is not cat friendly. She is being fostered in Imlay City, MI. The top picture was taken two weeks after we brought her in and cleaned her up, the middle was taken a week before being adopted and the last picture is Greta with her new forever Mom. **UPDATE: Greta was adopted on 8/17/13 by a wonderful woman in Willis, MI. Greta's new forever Mom drove up to Imlay City, MI with Greta's new Labradoodle-brother, Donnie, for a meet and greet and they all rode off happily into the sunset. Thanks to the exemplary care, love and devotion that Greta and all of our rescues have received while in their foster families care, Greta has turned from a cocoon into a beautiful butterfly. She has been socialized, housetrained and is no longer afraid of her own shadow. She absolutely loves to walk on leash, play with the other dogs and just live life to the fullest. |

NAME: JACK BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: 2.5yro COLOR: Black brindle, docked tail, natl ears WEIGHT: Approx 85# BIO: Please meet Jack. Jack was rescued along with his brother Bruno from a high-kill shelter in KY by LMAS. We drove down to Louisville, KY to pick him up. Jack is neutered, heartworm tested and on preventative and UTD on all vaccinations. When these boys were taken in they were so matted and filthy that they removed over 6# of crud from Bruno and 8# from his brother Jack. They get along great with each other and tested great with our other dogs. In addition to the filth and mats Jack actually had maggots eating away at his skin on his rear above his tail. That is why he is lacking as much hair down there. He gets along great with other dogs. Jack gets along fabulously with children as well as adults. He loves to go on walks and loves playing with the children and all the other dogs at our facility. Because Jack is a big boy, and will get even bigger as time goes by, we would not recommend he go to a home with children under 6 years old. He is such a love-bug and cuddler he doesn't realize his own size and could topple a toddler unintentionally. Jack bonds very quickly with children as well as adults. Jack has a fantastic personality, his heart is as big as his appetite. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues (will not accept electric or invisible fence). If you are interested please fill out an online adoption application in order to be considered and/or put on our waiting list. **UPDATE: Jack was adopted 8/25/13 by a fantastic "repeat offender" in Sobieski, WI. He has been adoption pending for some time and the logistics were finally ironed out and Jack finally got to go to his new forever home. It was a long ride, but I am sure well worth it for Jack and his new forever family. A couple of months ago they also adopted Axel (renamed Boomer). Jack has healed up beautifully and we hope to get new pictures of him to share with you in the near future. |

NAME: JACK BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 12/11/07 COLOR: Black, natural ears, docked tail WEIGHT: 107# BIO: Jack was surrendered to us from his very loving family in Clinton Twp, MI due to medical issues with one of his owners. They were unable to give him the proper exercise and time he deserved and although it broke their hearts to surrender him, they placed his best interests above theirs. Jack is housetrained, obedient and gets along with children, adults and other dogs. He is not high-maintenance but does love to run and play, go for walks and loves car rides. Jack will make anyone a phenomenal companion. You MUST have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt any of our rescues (we will not accept electric or invisible fences). Jack is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. **UPDATE: Jack was adopted 11/9/13 by a very loving woman in Southfield, MI that recently had to say goodbye to her Bouvier. She came out to Imlay City for a meet & greet and we brought Jack to his new forever home the following weekend. We have already had nothing but fantastic reports as to how Jack has settled in and how much his new Forever Mom loves him. |

NAME : LARS BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 7/3/12 COLOR: Fawn WEIGHT: 51# BIO: Hi everyone, my name is Lars. I was surrendered by my family because they were moving and didn't feel I would be comfortable in my new surroundings. It was a very hard decision for them to make but they placed my best interests ahead of their sincere desire to keep me. I am housetrained, was neutered by SCBR, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative and UTD on all my vaccinations. I do not do well in a crate or kennel situation. I am full of energy and just need to be with my family. While at the foster facility I ran and played with all the other dogs, big and small, with the caregivers young children and older children as well. I went on daily walks with the children, am fantastic on lead, and have learned many new commands. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am not cat friendly. I am currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. **UPDATE: Lars was adopted 8/24/13 by another one of our "repeat offenders" in Ossineke, MI. His new family fell in love with him before we even had him neutered or on our website. They have been patiently waiting for him to recover from his surgery so they could come get him and bring him home. Lars will be in seventh heaven with his new family - they do not use crates or kennels for any reason. Lars made the trip home just fine and is settling in just beautifully. |

NAME: LINDE (formerly Indy) BREED: Bouvier des Flandres (AKC) GENDER: Female (spayed) AGE: Born 7/13/12 COLOR: Black, docked tail cropped ears WEIGHT: 70# BIO: Linde was surrendered by a family in Ft. Wayne, IN that entrusted her to us because of conflicts in the household. She had shown aggressive mannerisms when there is food, toys, and affection involved. She also had no reservations when it came to finding items in the house to chew on, which can be expected as she is not yet a year old and has been attention deprived. Exercise, plenty of toys and the right kind of attention is gradually turning wildness into good manners. She is now housetrained, plays fetch and has a great time playing with her foster Dad's four year old Bouvier named Rocky (that he adopted in January of 2013). Some of the nippiness with her mouth has dampened their play somewhat as she nips at Rocky's toes to back him up. This behavior is also evident when it comes to attention being given other pets in the household. A muzzle has proven very effective in changing this behavior. For some time she would nip or "mouth" him. Linde is very loving and makes great eye contact when interacting with her foster Dad. She has been severely scared but we don't think beaten, and came with several chest wounds that were scabbed over by the time he took possession of her. We think possibly there was a physical incident with their other dog that was the turning point for her parents giving her up. She is AKC registered, microchipped, spayed and up to date on all shots. She will be going in shortly for a vet visit to have her loose stools checked. **UPDATE: Linde was adopted 6/1/13 by her foster Dad in Ft. Wayne, IN. He has made a phenomenal change in her compared to when she first came into his care. Linde now has a new forever home, Dad, sister (Carly) and brother (Rocky) that were also adopted from Second Chance. |

NAME: Millie BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Female (must be spayed at six months) AGE: Born 1/21/13 COLOR: Dark gray brindle, natural ears, natural tail WEIGHT: 15# BIO: Hi everybody, please meet Millie. Millie was surrendered to us along with her three brothers, one sister and a 22 month old female (intact) kennel mate. **UPDATE: On 5/18/13 Millie, who is the smallest of all the puppies was adopted by a fantastic family that drove down from Verona, WI and met us at the Indiana, Michigan border. It was love at first sight, as you can see. We have no doubt whatsoever that Millie is going to the best home she could ever find. She was adopted by the same parents that adopted one of Dutchess' eleven puppies from us (Jack who is eleven years young). Millie will help to fill the void left in everyone's heart when they had to say goodbye to their beloved "Miss Molly Brown" earlier this year. Even though we were on the road for fourteen hours this was one of the most rewarding adoptions. |

NAME: ONYX BREED: Bouvier des Flandres COLOR: Black, docked tail, natl ears GENDER: Female (spayed) WEIGHT: Approx 70# AGE: 7/30/13 (approx. 3yro) BIO: Onyx was picked up by Animal Control as a stray. She had at least a couple of litters of puppies back-to-back prior to us rescuing her and getting her spayed. Onyx is very energetic and just loves to be around people and children. She gets along great with other dogs and absolutely loves going for walks and being with people. She is very neat and clean in her kennel, so if she isn't housetrained already she would be easily housetrained once adopted and in her forever home. Onyx did not like being crated at all. The poor girl required a very extensive surgery to be spayed. Then she had a terrible infection where she was stapled and blew her staples out. Then she had an allergic reaction to the pain medication she was given. For two weeks she had been restricted in her activities and she would just sit in her kennel and cry because she could see the other dogs out running and playing with each other. So if you have room in your heart and home to give this very loving girl a forever home she will give you her undivided love, companionship and attention. Onyx prefers to be around people and other dogs and loves to play and run in the yard. Onyx is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Onyx. Most likely not cat-friendly. Onyx is currently being fostered in Imlay City, MI. **UPDATE: Onyx was adopted 10/4/13 by a phenomenal woman from Denver, CO. It was love at first sight. The top picture is how she looked when we took her in, the middle picture was how she looked a couple of weeks later and the last picture was taken the day she was adopted with her new forever Mom. What a difference a lot of love, care and food made. She looks fantastic now. The woman actually planned on just adopting Onyx but once she met Bruno decided to adopt them both. She flew in from CO, we took her out to the foster facility for a meet & greet, she rented a mini-van and came back the following week to pick both Onyx and Bruno up and drove them back to their new forever home in Denver, CO. This was a match made in heaven. |

NAME: Otto BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (must be neutered at six months) AGE: Born 1/21/13 COLOR: Dark gray brindle, natural ears, natural tail WEIGHT: 20# BIO: Hi everybody, please meet Otto. Otto was surrendered to us along with his two brothers, two sisters and a 22 month old female (intact) kennel mate. **UPDATE: On 5/18/13 Otto, who is the largest of all the puppies was adopted by a very loving family that drove down from Edon, OH and met us in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Ironically Otto will be joining his new sister Millie, a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever rescue that the family adopted last month. Millie was born the day before Otto was born. Also Otto was born the same day this family's son was born. Talk about a coincidence. Such a lovely family for Otto to have gotten. |

NAME: ROCKY BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 3/30/08 COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears, docked tail WEIGHT: approx 95# BIO: Hi there, my name is Rocky. I was originally surrendered to SCBR because my owner was getting up in age and was unable to care for me any longer. I was originally surrendered along with my sister, Goldie (renamed GiGi). Originally SCBR adopted us out together, but it didn't work out and I came back into rescue. I am very loving and I bonded very quickly with my new foster family. I love car rides and enjoy being in the company of someone that needs my companionship. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative I am NOT cat friendly. I am currently being fostered in Ft Wayne, IN. UPDATE: Rocky was adopted along with his sister Goldie to a family in Columbus, OH. This did not work out and we picked Rocky back up on 1/6/13 and brought him to his new foster Dad in Ft. Wayne, IN. The transformation has been phenomenal. Rocky has gained weight, and is doing fantastic. On 2/3/13 Rocky's foster Dad decided that poor Rocky has been bounced around way too many times. He and his SCBR Bouvier, Carly, decided that until the "right" family came along that Rocky would remain with them. Rocky has done so well, he goes on daily long walks, bike rides, he is doing fantastic and finally has a home and family that appreciates and loves him. He has turned out to be a great and loving companion and thrives on the exercise and care that his foster Dad and sister are providing him with. MOST RECENT UPDATE: On 8/9/13 Rocky was adopted by a very loving family in Ft Wayne, IN. They contacted us after having to say goodbye to their beloved Bouvier to see if we had a female that could help ease the pain of their loss. At that time, we didn't have a female that we thought would be an option. Rocky's foster Dad went that same night to visit the people with his Bouvier, Carly. Sensing how grief stricken they were he offered to let them come out to his house the next day to see Rocky. It was love at first sight. As much as Rocky's foster Dad loved him - he knew that these people needed Rocky and Rocky needed them more than he did because he had two other Bouviers and these people had none. The picture on the left (top) was taken a couple weeks before the adoption. The middle picture is Rocky's adoption picture and the bottom picture is of Rocky at his new forever home on his "new" bed, with his "happy" face on. |

NAME: Scrappy BREED: Pembroke Welsh Corgi COLOR: Tri-colored GENDER: Male (neutered) WEIGHT: 40# AGE: 10yro? BIO: Hi there, my name is Scrappy. I am a red-headed Tri-color Pembroke Welsh Corgi. When I was weighed at the vets I weighed 40# but my foster Mom is working to get my weight down to a healthier number. My microchip says I am approx 10yro, but I act more like a five year old. I am house-trained and good with older children. So far my normal routine has been to lay around, sleep or follow my human around. I love to be near my person. I listen well and come when called. I walk great on a leash and am good for baths as well as getting my nails trimmed. I am currently being fostered in a country setting and will stay in the yard fenced or not (never left unattended - of course). I get along well with other dogs. I am not food aggressive in any way. I will sleep in a crate - but prefer not to. I like cats, if they run I will chase them, but will come back when called. I am so sweet and gentle when taking treats. I am a real lover, I love my belly scratched and rubbed. I know how to use a doggie door and can go up and down long flights of stairs, (I learned that here at my foster home). I will definitely make someone the best buddy. My Foster Mom would keep me in a heart-beat if the time was right. Presently I do have allergies which I am being treated for (most likely seasonal). I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. They prefer I go to a home with a completely fenced and secure yard - but are willing to discuss with the right applicant. If you are interested in opening up your heart and home to me as a life-time friend and loving companion please go to www.secondchancebouvrescue.com and fill out an online adoption application. Any inquiries regarding me can be made to Nancy at: pwcorgirescue@gmail.com. **UPDATE: Scrappy was adopted 10/20/13 by a very loving family in Pinckney, MI. Here is a picture of Scrappy with his new forever family. |

NAME: STEFFIE BREED: Bouvier des Flandres GENDER: Female (spayed) AGE: Born 7/12/11 COLOR: Gray Brindle, natural ears & tail WEIGHT: 47# BIO: Steffie was surrendered to us along with five puppies (not hers) on 5/18/13. This is a picture of her when we rescued her, after we had cut as many of the mats and dried fecal matter off of her as we safely could. Steffie was surrendered due to the death of one of her owners and health and financial problems of her other owner. Steffie is a very sweet girl but exceptionally shy around people due to the lack of attention and care she received. She is good with other dogs and older children. She was raised in a kennel situation and should be very easy to housetrain. She is now UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm negative and on preventative. Because she was so emaciated and full of worms when we got her in, it took us over a month to get her weight up and get her healthy enough in order to have her spayed. Out of all the pictures that were taken, the top picture was the most complimentary one we could put on the website. The bottom picture was taken after she had gained 12# and had been shaved down and bathed a month later. Pictures of the "new & improved" Steffie will be put up shortly showing just how much difference the proper care, love and attention can make. **UPDATE: Steffie had been spoken for by a very loving "repeat offender" in Sauk Village, IL that has adopted three other Bouviers from us. After seeing Steffie's picture and hearing of her story this woman's heart went out immediately to Steffie. Since being fostered for over a month in Imlay City, MI, Steffie has definitely come out of her shell. The foster Mom and her family showered her with love and affection and Steffie knows now what love is. Everyone that has met Steffie thinks that she is an absolute love. After waiting patiently for over a month Steffie will now finally be reunited with her new Mom and new sister, Maddie the end of June. **NEWEST UPDATE: On 7/5/13 Steffie finally got to go home in Sauk Village, IL. The pics on your left are: (top) Steffie the day she came in AFTER we cut all the matted dreadlocks off in order to transport her to Imlay City, MI. (middle) Steffie with her adoring "foster Mom" the day we transported her home. (bottom) Steffie with her new "Forever Mom". Talk about a long awaited happy ending. Steffie went from a terrified, filthy, emaciated, shell of a dog to a beautiful, vibrant, loving girl in just six short weeks of TLC from her foster family. This is what rescue is truly about. |

NAME: SULLEY BREED: Terrier mix GENDER: Male - neutered WEIGHT: 18# AGE: Approx. 4yro BIO: This is dear little Sulley. Sulley was found running loose in a field with a couple of other dogs - and from all their appearances they had been running loose for quite some time. This poor little boy was so infested with fleas that you could actually see them crawling all over him when he was picked up. The top picture was how he looked when he was taken in. The middle picture is of him thanking the groomer for the fantastic job she did getting rid of all his dreadlocks and fleas. Sulley is a very loving and very smart little boy. He knows all kinds of tricks. Once he was shaved down and bathed he acted like he had been "born again". With all of his little antics he could be a circus dog. Sulley has a very noticeable under-bite and it makes him so cute you just have to smile when you see him. Everyone at the vet's office fell in love with him when he was taken in to get rid of his fleas and to be vaccinated. Sulley is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, house and crate trained. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Sulley. He is being fostered in Imlay City, MI. **UPDATE: Sulley was adopted by his caregiver's daughter on 7/29/13. She fell madly in love with him and he was stuck to her like glue. The bottom picture is of Sulley with his new "forever Mom". |
