ADOPTED 2012

NAME: Apollo
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 7yro
COLOR: Black brindle, docked and cropped
WEIGHT: approx 100#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Apollo. I was surrendered to the Indianapolis Animal Care Center along with my brother Zeus by my owners because they lost their home. As you can tell, I was a little on the over-weight side, but due to proper care, exercise and food I have slimmed down quite nicely. My foster Dad takes me on daily runs and walks which has made a tremendous difference in my appearance as well as my personality. Please excuse the haircut, but my brother and I were so severely matted and filthy that the shelter had no other recourse but to shave us down to skin. We may look bad, but we sure do feel and smell pretty good now. I am very loving and friendly and am just looking for someone that will love me and take better care of me than my previous owners did. I do have manners and I do follow my foster Dad's commands. I make a fantastic driving companion. I rode from IN to Michigan and from MI back to IN to my foster Dad's and you would never have known I was even in the car. My wish is that someone will open up their heart and home and consider adopting me. I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life laying at my master's feet while they watch TV after going for a relaxing stroll. I appear to be housetrained because I have not had any accidents in the house since I arrived there. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. I love people but may not be the perfect companion for really young children because of my size. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Ft. Wayne, IN with my brother and my foster Dad's adopted rescue named Carly. I am most likely not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: What a difference love, a good diet, exercise and a good haircut make. The top picture was when I was rescued from the shelter, the bottom picture was taken last month.
**UPDATE: Apollo was adopted 12/21/12 by a fantastic family in N Bangor, NY. They wanted him bad enough to drive over 13 hours straight one-way in some pretty nasty weather. They met him, spent the night, and turned around the next morning for their long trip back home. This is true dedication and love. Apollo made it to his new forever home in time for Christmas.

NAME: Chance
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male
AGE: approx 8-9yro
COLOR: Light Fawn, Docked Tail, Cropped Ears
WEIGHT: 82#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Chance. I was found running loose on 1/31/12 in Ohio. My former owner was incarcerated and I was left (along with a couple of other Bouviers) in the care of a relative. The relative didn't want to care for us any longer so they called animal control to come get all of us and have us all put to sleep. I was the lucky one - I escaped. I wandered around for a while fending for myself until I was picked up by a caring family and taken to the Animal Shelter. They contacted the rescue to see if they were interested and they were kind enough to send one of their foster Mom's to come in and get me. I was a matted mess, dirty, smelly and covered with burrs. My foster Mom took me home, cleaned me up as best she could. My Foster Mom said: "Chance is a great Bouvier Boy that deserves a wonderfully safe and loving home of his own. Chance loves to travel and go anywhere his foster family goes. He loves walks (he's a right-side walker) on the waters of Lake Erie and meeting new people and animals. He has not shown ANY prey drive and loves to play with the two small dogs that he lives with. He is learning some signs for obedience and loves to please. He is playful and bouncy, always excited to see his family members. Chance is house trained and crate trained. Due to possible hearing difficulties, he must be on lead or in a fenced area. Chance is an easy Bouvier to have in your life and so easy to fall in love with. Enjoy his silly Bouvier playfulness in your home...and his restful periods of sleep." His foster Mom says he is a real "hoot" of a boy. He reminds her of the big floppy dog on Sesame Street. His stubby little tail goes about 90 miles a minute when he sees her. Chance is UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. If you are looking for a companion to share your love with, or to just hold down the rug and look at you with adoring big brown eyes - he is your boy. He would probably be best suited for a mature couple without real small children. If you are interested in making room in your heart and home for Chance, please do consider him. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt him. He is currently being fostered in Columbus, OH.
**UPDATE: Chance was adopted 8/30/12 by his loving and caring foster parents in Columbus, OH. He will now have all the love and care that he was so deprived of by his previous owners. Chance had quite a few people that were interested in him, but none for the right reasons. Most people wanted him because they saw he was a smaller fawn Bouvier, they didn't look into his eyes, heart and soul and see what his foster parents saw. They saw an older dog that was badly mistreated and technically thrown away like yesterdays newspaper. What Chance lacked in hearing and agility he more than made up for it in his love, companionship and eagerness to please. Chance is now where he belongs, safe, sound and happier than he's ever been in his life.

NAME: Goldie (renamed GiGi)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 3/30/08
COLOR: Fawn (Wheaton), natural ears, docked tail
WEIGHT: 80#
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Goldie. I was surrendered to SCBR because my owner was getting up in age and was unable to care for me any longer. The pictures on your left are my “before” and “after” pictures (which were taken a month apart) you can only imagine how matted and unkept I looked when I got to the groomers and she worked her magic on me. I had to be shaved right down before she could even attempt to bathe and groom me. I am in the process of being re-housetrained and have not had any accidents since being relocated to my new foster home. I get along great with children and other dogs. I love to play and go for walks, I walk very well on leash. I have a fairly laid back personality, compared to my brother Rocky. I would do anything for a kind word or pat on the head. I was surrendered along with my brother, Rocky, and we have been together our entire life. Originally SCBR wanted to adopt us out together, and would still like to. If that isn't possible they feel that it would be in our best interest if we were adopted out separately as long as there is another dog in the family for companionship. My foster family is just head over heels with the progress that has been made due to their love and nurturing. I am a very loving girl and I bonded very quickly with my new foster family. I love car rides, and enjoy being in the company of someone that needs my companionship. If you are looking for a devoted companion to share your life, love and home with you, please do consider adopting me. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am most likely NOT cat friendly. The groomer said that I showed interest in her cats - but did not lunge or bark. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE:**UPDATE: GiGi (Goldie) was adopted 12/29/12 by a very dedicated and loving family in Columbus, OH. They drove 5 hours one way in a snowstorm and 5 hours back home after adopting her. Gigi gets along great with her other canine companion and they are working on her getting along with their two cats. They had originally adopted GiGi's brother Rocky at the same time - however we all decided it was in Rocky's best interest that he come back into rescue and be adopted out by himself.

NAME: Keaton
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2-4yro
COLOR: Black, docked and cropped
WEIGHT: 58#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Keaton. I was found running stray and was picked up by the Elkhart Cty Humane Society. As you can tell, I am a little on the emaciated side L I am a very loving dog and would play ball 24/7 if it was possible. I run like a gazelle and love giving kisses. I am perfectly happy just sitting next to you or laying at your feet with your hand on my head. I know the basic commands and walk well on a leash. I am terrified of stairs and the only way I will go up and down them now is if you physically carry me. I am heartworm negative, UTD on all my vaccinations. I love people but may be a little too energetic for young children. I get along fine with other dogs and am definitely not lacking in energy.
**UPDATE: Keaton was adopted 5/27/12 by a gentleman in Canton, MI that had adopted from SCBR previously and will give him a loving home like he deserves. It was love at first sight for both parties.

NAME: MADDIE
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 12/7/07
COLOR: Gray brindle, natural ears, docked tail
WEIGHT: 80#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Maddie. I was surrendered by my family in Grosse Pte Park, MI due to the death of my beloved owner. It was a very difficult decision for the family to let me know, but they had nothing but my best interest in mind. I am housetrained, well mannered, know basic commands, walk well on a leash. I am a little shy upon meeting people but I do warm up very quickly. I am very observant and curious as to any new sound or movement. I would be best suited as an "only child". I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. I am looking for that special person to shower my affections on. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
UPDATE: Maddie was adopted 6/29/12 by a very loving and compassionate woman in Sauk Village, IL. This woman had previously adopted from us three other times and had just recently and unexpectedly had to say goodbye to her beloved Bouvier, Sherri. It was love at first sight for both parties. They both needed someone to share their grief in losing their beloved companion. Maddie was the perfect rider in the car and made the trip all the way home without any problems.

NAME: Minnie
BREED: Miniature Pinscher
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Approx. 6yro
COLOR: Red, erect ears, natural tail
WEIGHT: 13#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Minnie. I was found running loose by a very caring person that was nice enough to take me in, feed me and try to locate my previous owner. When I was found, I had a couple of puncture wounds in my neck - so evidently someone didn't like me :-( I am a little overweight - the vet feels I should only weigh about 10#. I am good with cats and dogs, but would really prefer just to be a one and only. I occasionally grumble at the other dogs while they are playing - I guess I am like their babysitter. I do not have the "typical" high-strung or hyper personality of a MinPin. I absolutely love toys, especially squeaky ones, and playing ball/tug. I would make a great little companion dog for an adult. I am house-trained and am very neat and clean. Originally I did not like to be crated - but that has all changed. Once I had my dental work done, my teeth cleaned and the infections in my mouth taken care of because of my teeth I absolutely LOVE my crate. Now I love to sleep in there with the door open. I have not had one single accident in the house or in my crate since going into foster care. Also I am not destructive and have not chewed up anything. My foster family would love to keep me, but they already have a dog and the other dog does not want me to become a permanent part of their family. I would prefer to be right with you and just hang out. Because of my demeanor, my foster Mom thinks that I may have been a companion for an older person. I desperately needed to have my teeth cleaned, so the rescue had that done at the vets while I was being spayed. I love going on walks, which is good because maybe I can shed a couple of unnecessary pounds. If you are interested in making a small place in your heart and home for me - I promise to reward you with all the love you can possibly handle. Because I am so tiny, it would not be advisable for me to be around toddlers - I can break too easily. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. UPDATE: Minnie was adopted Jan. 2012 by her very loving foster Mom in Metamora, MI

NAME: Nero
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 7/7/09
COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears, docked tail
WEIGHT: 62#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Nero. I was surrendered to SCBR because my owner was another victim of the economy and lost his home and was unable to take me with him. I am housetrained, get along with other dogs, I love children and I love to play. When SCBR took me to the vet I tested positive for heartworm but I was successfully treated and was brought up to date on all my vaccinations. I have been at the rescue farm since 5/1/12 because I had to be kept quiet while going thru and re-cooperating from my heartworm treatment, also I had to be neutered. I am a fairly mellow dog, and would really like to have a family I could call my own. I was housetrained but because I had to be kept crated and kenneled for three months while I was recuperating from my heartworm treatment I am in desperate need of a refresher course. I love to go for rides in the car and for walks. These are not the best pictures in the world - trust me - I look MUCH better in person. So if you are in the market for a companion and best friend, please consider adopting me. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am most likely not cat friendly. I am currently at the rescue farm in Dryden, MI.
**UPDATE: Nero was adopted 10/17/12 by a very loving and compassionate woman in Saginaw, MI. Nero not only has a new forever Mom but also has a little sister named Missy to keep him company.

NAME: PEACHES
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 8/9/08
COLOR: Black brindle, docked tail, natural ears
WEIGHT: 91#
BIO: Hi everyone, my name is Peaches. I was surrendered by a family member to the rescue because my Dad was terminally ill and no one was able to keep me. I was fortunate and grateful that I was able to spend the last couple of days with my Dad before he passed away. I am a very loving and trusting girl. I am housetrained, I walk well on a leash, I ride well in the car and I get along fantastically with everyone. I am UTD on all my vaccinations and am heartworm negative.
**UPDATE: Peaches was adopted 3/22/12 by a very loving and compassionate woman in Warren, MI that just recently had to say goodbye to her beloved dog, Biscuit. I went straight from my Dad's home to my new forever Mom's home with no problem. After I met my new Mom and checked out my new home I proceeded to jump up on the couch and sit down as if to say, "I'm home". As badly as my new Mom feels as far as the circumstances that made me available to her, she already loves me to death. I do have a chronic ear infection in both my ears, but my new Mom is willing to religiously clean them out daily and medicate them until the infections are cleared up. My new Mom has so much love to give and I have so much love to give her in return. As sad as this day started out to be, I am sure my Dad is peacefully looking down from heaven knowing that I will be forever loved and cared for by my new Mom.

NAME: PONCHO (renamed Paco)
BREED: Chihuahua
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: approx 3yro
COLOR: Tan on white
WEIGHT: 6.5#
BIO: Buenos dias, my name is Poncho. I was surrendered to SCBR because my elderly owner was placed into a nursing facility and was no longer able to take care of me. I am housetrained and crate trained. I get along well with other dogs and possibly cats. I am very friendly and very social. I don't appear to have a mean bone in my little body. Because of my size the rescue would prefer I go to an adult and/or mature couple, without young children. I am used to a fairly quiet life-style and would probably not do well in a household that is hectic or busy. I love to cuddle and would make a fantastic companion. I am UTD on all my vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am very easy to care for and do not require a lot of space. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Paco (formerly Poncho) was adopted 12/22/12 by a very loving family just in time to be in his new forever home for Christmas. Here's a picture of the cute little "stocking stuffer" with his new forever Mom.

NAME: Spice
BREED: Lab mix
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 8yro
COLOR: Dark blonde and white
WEIGHT: 48#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Spice. I was surrendered to SCBR along with my sister Sugar (shown below), because my owner could no longer keep us. I hope you can appreciate my "happy face" picture. I am such a love bug and get along great with children, adults and other dogs. Please don't be intimidated by my age - I have quite a few good years left to be the love of your life and grateful companion. You would never guess my age if I didn't tell you. I am housetrained, UTD on all my vaccinations and heartworm negative. I ride great in a car and walk well on a leash. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. It would be fantastic if you could not only find room in your heart and home for me, but also for my loving sister, Sugar. The rescue said they would be more than willing to adopt us out together and waive the second adoption donation. If you are interested in adopting a mature, loving and friendly companion - please do consider me/us I promise you will not regret your decision. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Both Spice and Sugar were adopted 11/29/12 by a fantastic family in Saline, MI. They love children and will have two young boys to love and cherish. This was a match made in heaven. Their new "Forever Mom" was so excited when she saw them and couldn't wait to get them home so her boys couldsee them.

NAME: STELLA
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 4/19/09
COLOR: Fawn, docked & cropped
WEIGHT: approx 100#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Stella. I was another victim of the economy and was surrendered to SCBR along with my brother, Stevie. The pictures on your left are my “before” and “after” pictures (which were taken a month apart). I am totally housetrained, I get along fantastic with other dogs, people and children. I love to play and go for walks. I am very obedient and well trained and love to go for car rides (except to the vet - of course). My brother and I are inseperable. We have to be near each other and are very distraught if we cannot at least see each other. If you are looking for a devoted companion to share your life, love and home with you, please do consider adopting me. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am most likely NOT cat friendly.

**UPDATE: My brother and I were both adopted on 9/30/12 by our loving foster Mom in Westland, MI. My brother Stevie required extensive surgery and after-care due to a massive basal cell tumor he had on his foot when he was surrendered. Because I was so frantic being apart from him while he was hospitalized it was decided that we could not be separated. I get along fantastic with her other adopted Bouvier rescues, although I am sure they are not as happy to have me there as I am glad to be there.

The surgery went fantastic and I have completely healed. NAME: RUDY (Wubbie)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/ German Shepherd mix
GENDER: Male (intact)
AGE: 7 weeks old
COLOR: Brown and Black brindle
WEIGHT: 15#
BIO: WE ARE DOING THIS AS A COURTESTY POST ONLY - TRYING TO FIND A FOREVER HOME FOR WUBBIE. If interested, please contact Debbie at Djdavis@oakland.edu and put PUPPY in the subject line or call 586-292-6982. Hello my name is Rudy, but all my friends call me Wubbie. My current owner was up north when she saw some puppies for sale. She knew she couldn’t offer me a forever home, but felt I would have a better chance finding a great home if she bought me because I was not in a very friendly area. I am dog friendly, but haven't been introduced to cats yet, although I am young enough that I would probably just want to chase and play with them. I am a Bouvier des Flandres and German Shepherd mix and I am expected to be at least 80 lbs. I have had my first set of shots and been de-wormed. I need someone who will not only love me, but will take care of me. I will need to be neutered and get my second and third series of shots. But I am well worth it! With as hot as it has been I LOVE laying on cold surfaces, you will typically find me on under the bed near the air duct, on the bathroom or kitchen tiles, or in the shower. Anywhere that it's cool, you will find me! I am very loveable and sweet, I like to run around in my foster mom’s garden and cuddle near her at night.
**UPDATE: I just receive word that because of our courtesy post that Rudy (Wubbie) has been adopted.
