ADOPTED 2010

NAME: Aiden
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/Bearded Collie mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 5yro
COLOR: Black & white, natural ears and tail
WEIGHT: 117#
BIO: Well hello everyone, my name is Aiden. I have been with another rescue for a couple of years and kept in a kennel. Yes, I am a little on the portly side :-) When I arrived originally, I had the run of the place and my weight was kept down - I should only weigh about 90#. However, because I was never listed on a website - no one knew I was desperately looking for a home. I am very clean in my kennel which usually means I am housetrained. I may require a slight refresher course - but I am very willing to learn. I am as friendly as can be, but am very intimidating when in a car or behind a fence. But once I am not confined I am a real doll. I am just a BIG friendly dog. I do know how to sit, but I need some work walking on a leash. Once I start getting some regular exercise, I should slim down quite well. I am very friendly and outgoing and get along well with adults and older children. I will probably get along with other dogs, but definitely no cats. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am really hoping that now people know that I am available that I will finally find my forever home and family. I have been waiting a very long time to have someone to call my own. If you are looking for a best friend and companion - look no further - I am your man. I am currently being fostered in Dryden, MI. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Aiden was adopted 6/26/10 by a phenomenal family that drove up to get him from Yardley, PA. Here is a picture of Aiden with his new "forever family". Such a wonderful, loving family - Aiden couldn't have found a better home :-)

NAME: Alfie
BREED: Bearded Collie mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2 years old
WEIGHT: 50#
COLOR: Black, dark gray and white
BIO: Hi there my name is Alfie. I was found as a stray and taken in to a local shelter. I had been sitting at the shelter for over two months just hopeing and praying someone would come in and adopt me. My time was running out and one of the volunteers that walked me at the shelter contacted the rescue and "sprung" me. She just thought I was much too good of a boy to be put to sleep just because no one had adopted me yet. I am a little bit timid when I first meet someone, but I warm up within minutes. I am a really nice medium size. I am solidly built with a wirey thin coat which makes me really easy to groom and maintain. I am considered housetrained because I have never messed in my cage while at the shelter. I LOVE to play fetch. If you throw a stick I will run and get it and even bring it right back hopeing you will throw it some more. If you are looking for a good and loving companion, I am your guy. I get along fine with other animals and older children. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. If you are interested in adopting me you must have a completely fenced and secure yard. Definitely NOT cat friendly!
**Update: Alfie was adopted 11/11/10 by a very loving family in Milford, MI.

NAME: Andrea
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres / Labrador Retriever mix?
GENDER: Female (needs to be spayed when 6 months old)
AGE: Born 6/25/10
WEIGHT: 15# 2 oz (on 9/16/10)
COLOR: Dark Black/Brown with a white chest blaze, dark brown eyes.
BIO: Hi, my name is Andrea. I am one of Taylor’s eleven puppies. When filling out your application please take into consideration that I am a baby and will require supervised attention at all times. If you work full time, have real young children or a hectic life schedule - a puppy is not for you. I have to be fed three times a day and cannot be crated for extended periods of time while being left home alone. My bladder and bowels are not mature enough to be able to hold my eliminations for as long as a mature dog can. I am very energetic and love to play. I have had my first three series of DHPP vaccinations, I have been wormed twice and am on heartworm preventative. I will require one more booster for my DHPP at three week intervals and will need my rabies shot when I am old enough. You will be required to sign a spay contract stating that you will have me spayed at six months old - which will be enforced. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am young enough that I am still cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Andrea was adopted 9/25/10 by a very loving family in Davison, MI. They heard about Andrea from the family that adopted Bobby & Ariel. Andrea not only has a loving new forever home, she also has two retired Leader Dogs to keep her company. Here is a picture of Andrea when she was 5 weeks old and on 9/23/10 two days before she was adopted.

Now Ariel not only has her sibling brother but also has two senior dogs that will be teaching her the ropes at her new forever home, a Great Dane and a Bouvier. Ariel‘s new Mom & Dad were so impressed with the personality that Bobby (Rudy) has that they decided to adopt Ariel also. Her new family is loving, caring and will always have her best interests and health in mind. Here is a picture of Ariel when she was 5 weeks old and on 9/23/10 just two days before she was adopted.

NAME: Asia
BREED: Spaniel/Beagle mix
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born Dec. 2009
COLOR: Black on white w/ticking
WEIGHT: 40#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Asia. I was originally found abandoned in a neighborhood and taken in by a loving family that knew I needed a home and no one else claimed me. I am now looking for my new forever home. I am being surrendered by my family because between their work schedule and the fact that they are expecting they don't have time for me. I need a home where I won't have to be crated 8 to 10 hours a day. A home where I can be loved and played with and be a faithful companion. I am a medium sized dog. I am still a puppy and will have my first birthday around Christmas. ( Hopefully I won't be spending my first birthday and first Christmas alone). Just take a look at my precious face, doesn't it make you want to snuggle with me? Although I act a little timid at first, I warm up and am very affectionate and cuddly. I am still very curious and love to play. I would probably be very good in agility classes. I have a lot of energy and need someone who can give me their time and attention, with a whole lot less "crate time". I play well with other dogs. I get along great with children over 8 years old. I have never been around babies and toddlers. The vet that took care of me guessed at my age and my breed. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. I have never been around cats, so that is questionable. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Asia was adopted 12/11/10 by a very loving family that drove up from Toledo, OH. Here is a picture of Asia with her new forever Dad and Brother.

NAME: Cam
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 2-1-99
WEIGHT: 88.6#
COLOR: Dark gray brindle, natural ears and tail
(This is a courtesy posting for a family located in the East Lansing, MI area that has a senior Bouvier that desperately needs a good home. They have agreed to keep Cam until we can find him a good home rather than put him in a kennel or foster situation. These are not the best pictures in the world, but they are the only ones I was given.)
BIO: Hello, my name is Cam and I've had a great life pulling a wagon for the neighborhood kids and playing with other dogs and cats. But now that I am older and I am slower I just enjoy laying around; except if you want to take me for a car ride, I am always ready for that! I am still a very lovable and gentle dog, but because I am so large and my owner's lifestyle has changed, I need a new home. I've always had re-occuring ear problems that you would have to take into consideration. With medication and proper cleaning it can be dealt with. My hair isn't as thick and lucious as it used to be, but I am still a beautiful boy. I am an experienced Bouvier looking for a new home that I can spend my golden years in. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Cam was adopted 10/10/10 by a very loving family in Allerton, IL. Not many people would have stepped up to the plate in wanting to give this senior canine citizen a loving forever home for his "golden years", especially considering his chronic ear infections, but Cindy did. Cam could not have found a better home.

NAME: Chuckie (remaned Logan)
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix
GENDER: Male
AGE: Born 1/29/10
COLOR: Fawn Brindle w/black mask
BIO: Hi there, my name is Chuckie. I was named that because when I was born I looked like a little woodchuck :-) I will not be available for adoption until the first part of April. I will already have my age-appropriate vaccinations. My adoption donation will be $150. You will be required to sign a spay/neuter contract in order to adopt me. Once I am neutered, and the contract is returned to SCBR your $50 neuter deposit will be refunded if you would like. I am very well socialized and will get along with everyone and everything. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Chuckie was adopted by a very loving family in Macomb, MI.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of "little Chuckie" when he was almost a month old. Also a picture of Chuckie (renamed Logan) at seven months old. Isn't he gorgeous? Just recently Logan got to spend some time at his foster Mom's house and play with a couple of his sisters, Ross and Kenzie - they had a blast.

NAME: Dolly
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 8/04 (approx)
COLOR: Gray & Silver, natural ears & natural tail
WEIGHT: 65#
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Dolly. Are you lonely, depressed, need a loving companion that will brighten your day? Well, I am just what the doctor ordered!!! I am completely housetrained and will follow you to the ends of the earth. I was surrendered back to SCBR because there was a new baby in the family. The problem is that now that the baby is crawling I think he wants to play and my parents were a little leery that I might accidentally scratch him. Plus I bark at him because he won't play and it startles him and them. I am a very sweet and affectionate dog and always want to be close to my family. I love to play, go for walks and for rides. Being an only dog, I do get a little nervous when I am around strange dogs. Once properly introduced I get along fine with them. I would enjoy being with a family with older children, because I do love to play and enjoy companionship. So if you're down, and feel like no one loves you - please consider me. I would like nothing better than to be your loving and faithful companion. I am fantastic with adults and just adore children (non toddlers). I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Dolly was adopted 4/6/10 by a very loving family in Attica, MI. Here is a picture of Dolly with her new forever Mom & Dad.

NAME: Emma Joy
BREED: English Cocker Spaniel
GENDER: Female (spayed)
COLOR: Black on White
AGE: Born 8/13/08
WEIGHT: 25#
BIO: Please meet Emma Joy. As her name implies- Emma is truly a joy. People always comment on how pretty she is. Emma Joy is house trained, crate trained, has had obedience classes, she is socialized and loves to go to doggy day care to play with other dogs. Emma Joy is a very energetic dog that needs to be in a home where she is played with, walked or run every day. She is smart, affectionate and very obedient. So why are we looking for another loving home for her? Emma Joy was purchased when she was only 10 weeks old from a very prestigious kennel in Barrington, IL (champion blood lines). At the time her family had a very old Golden Retriever. They were together for about 6 good months before they had to put their Golden Retriever down. Emma Joy then got very depressed. She would look forward to running the fence lines with the neighbors large dogs. She was taken to doggy day care twice a week - which she absolutely loved. Emma’s mother decided to adopt another female English Cocker that was a month younger as a companion for Emma. The two dogs ended up being very different. Emma is a very high energy dog. She is very independent - will sit by you for several minutes and then she's off exploring. We feel that if she was exercised more it would wear off some of this energy, because she's often quiet and tired after doggy day care. The other dog was very quiet and reserved and became very possessive of all the toys and Emma would usually just back off. They seemed fine together, they were loving, playful companions. But because of the other one’s dominant side, and Emma’s submissive side - future altercations were eminent. This has been a very agonizing, soul-searching time for Emma‘s owner - she loved both dogs. However, she finally decided that the other dog fit in better with her life style - she's quiet and cuddly. Emma needs a home where she's either the top dog or has a male dog to play with and owners who would provide her with daily walks. Because Emma’s owner did not physically have the strength and stamina to accommodate Emma’s exuberance she decided that she had to do what was best for everyone and what was in Emma’s best interest. She feels Emma would be much happier and a real treasure in the right home. Emma is a purebred and has papers. She is neutered, micro chipped and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Emma Joy. Because of her exuberance she most likely would not get along well with cats.
**UPDATE: Emma Joy was adopted 2/21/10 by a fantastic and loving couple from Marthasville, MO.

NAME: Holly Berry
BREED: Yorkshire terrier/Chihuahua/Dachshund mix?
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: approx 2-3 yro?
COLOR: Black and Tan, erect ears
WEIGHT: 7.2#
BIO: Hi, my name is Holly Berry. I was picked up as a stray in the Flint area just wandering on the highway, scared to death and freezing in the rain. Because of where I was found, I was most likely dropped off by my cold hearted previous owners. Thank goodness a kind woman picked me up and cared for me for the past month. I was turned over to the rescue because this woman exhausted all her efforts to see if I would be claimed and she could not keep me. I was named Holly Berry by my foster Mom because I am so beautiful and because of the holidays. Just look at my ears - I bet if I got running fast enough I could fly :-) I am house-trained, I love other dogs (big and small) and I even got to sleep in bed with my foster Mom. I love to cuddle and sleep under the blankets. I love walks and car rides. I am a very happy and friendly little girl that just needs a loving family to call my own. So, if you are looking for a friendly and loving love-bug, look no further, I am your girl :-) I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Holly Berry was adopted 12/22/10 by a very loving family in Troy, MI. Holly not only has a new forever Mom & Dad, she also has a Labradoodle sister named Reese and four junior masters to love and play with her.

NAME: Jessie (renamed Jazzy)
BREED: Poodle
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: approx 1.5yro
WEIGHT: 10.4#
COLOR: Cream & Apricot
BIO: This is sweet little Jessie. Jessie was saved by a young couple that found her sitting in her crate on top of a hill in a park with no food, water, collar, or shade. The only thing in her crate was a stuffed animal and an old leash. Jessie had been sitting there in the sun for a couple of hours when this very caring couple decided her owners were not coming back for her and they took her home. She was so filthy that they had to give her three baths and they had to trim some horrendous mats away from her eyes and her butt. They were unable to keep her and they were referred to us by one of our previous adopters, so they contacted us to see if we could take her in.
The top picture was taken when she was surrendered to us after being bathed and brushed by the couple that found her. (Can you imagine what she looked like before this was done?) The bottom picture was taken after our groomer did her "magic". Such a gorgeous little girl. She is house trained, crate trained, remarkably friendly towards everyone and everything. We cannot imagine why anyone would just abandon this sweet little girl like they did. Jessie is UTD On all vaccinations, heart worm negative and cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Jessie (renamed Jazzy) was adopted on 9/11/10 by a previous adopter of ours in Dryden, MI. that used to have Bouviers. They had contacted our groomer to let her know that they had recently said goodbye to their beloved Shadow and were looking to "down-size" to a much smaller non-shedding rescue dog. Our groomer contacted them the same day she saw Jessie and it was a done deal, they took her home the day she was spayed. This is a wonderful and loving family and Jessie is now safe and will be loved beyond her wildest imagination..

NAME: Leila (renamed Spycee)
BREED: German Shepherd Dog
GENDER: Female (spayed)
BORN: Approx 12/10/09
WEIGHT: 27#
COLOR: Black & tan
BIO: Hi there, my name is Leila. I was rescued from a terrible situation where I was kept crated most of my life. The unsanitary conditions were so deplorable that the neighbors complained about the smell. I am now being fostered in Almont, MI and am having the time of my life. I look big in the picture, but I am only a baby. I was not housetrained when I was rescued but thanks to my foster Mom and Dad the three of us are getting a handle on the situation. I am all puppy and just love to run, play and give lots of kisses. I get along with everyone and everything and possibly would get along with a cat because I am young enough that I don't know the difference between a cat and a dog yet. I would be best suited in a family that had children and also had the time to work with me and train me. Because of my age I should not go to a family that cannot devote time and attention into making me a "good canine citizen". If you are looking for someone to capture your heart, look no further - I am your girl. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Leila (Spycee) was adopted by a fantastic family in Dryden, MI.

AGE: Born: 8/9/2008
WEIGHT: 74.6# (on 3/29/10)
COLOR: Fawn, darker saddle and mask, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi, my name is Lucy. I am being surrendered as a product of divorce. My Mom and teenage family is being forced to move in with a friend and there is not enough room for me to move in with them. Any place that could be afforded would not allow a dog my size to stay there. I am a drop-dead gorgeous fawn. I am 100% housetrained, I know some commands, I LOVE children, I LOVE to play and am very social with strangers. It is breaking my family's heart to have to let me go - but they want what is best for me. AGE: Born 1/6/08
WEIGHT: 93#
COLOR: Dark gray brindle, docked & cropped
BIO: Well everyone, I would love for you to meet Max. Talk about a love bug. He had my heart within seconds of my meeting him. Max was surrendered to us because his previous owners, who love him dearly, were unable due to their jobs to give him the time and love he deserved. It was with heavy heart that they are saying goodbye to their beloved baby - but they are so pleased to know that we will find him the home he justly deserves. Max is fantastic with children, other dogs, people - you name it (except squirrels :-) Max is housetrained, does not get on furniture, is very obedient and just loves to be petted. His favorite past time is to watch the Animal Planet while being touched by someone that loves him. I cannot sing his praises high enough and would take him into my own pack in a heart beat. Max is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt him. **UPDATE: Max was adopted 10/2/10 by a wonderful family from Oconomowoc, WI that just recently had to say goodbye to their beloved dog, Atlas. We met them at the Michigan/Indiana border and the meet & greet and adoption went fantastic. Max jumped up in their van and had a look on his face as if to say "Home James". Max not only has a new loving and caring forever Mom and Dad, but also had two little girls who were waiting at home for their new companion to arrive.

NAME: Miles
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 3/11/03
WEIGHT: 120#
COLOR: Fawn, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi there, my name is Miles. I was tearfully surrendered by my Mom because they had to move and could not have a fenced yard to keep me safe. I am housetrained, know hand commands, absolutely love car rides, children and adults. I get along fine with other dogs. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Miles was adopted 4/18/10 by a fantastic family in Milan, MI. This family had adopted two rescued Bouviers in the past and one of them passed away just recently. They were looking for a female companion - however Miles' personality and manners fit their needs to a "T". This was a match made in heaven.

NAME: Minnie
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix
GENDER: Female
AGE: Born 1/29/10
COLOR: Cream
BIO: Hi there, my name is Minnie. I was named that because when I was born I was the runt of the litter :-) I have been housetrained and UTD on all applicable age appropriate vaccinations. Because I was born with a hernia, I will have to wait until I am old enough to safely repair this problem. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me.
UPDATE: Minnie was adopted 4/23/10 by a very loving and patient family in White Lake, MI. They understood that Minnie had to have hernia repair surgery and were more than willing to wait until we could have it done and she had successfully made a full recovery.

NAME: Misty (renamed Penny)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres / Labrador Retriever mix?
GENDER: Female (needs to be spayed when 6 months old)
AGE: Born 6/25/10
WEIGHT: 11# 2.5 oz (8/26/10)
COLOR: Dark blonde (fuzzier hair) w/four white socks
BIO: Hi, my name is Misty.
**UPDATE: Misty was adopted by her very loving family in Sterling Hts, MI that had just recently lost their beloved dog named Gonzo.

NAME: Molly
BREED: Pekingese/Pomeranian (PekePom)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 8/2/09
WEIGHT: approx 12#
COLOR: Sable on White
BIO: Hi there, my name is Molly. I was originally purchased from a pet store to help an elderly gentleman with his loneliness after his wife passed away. He was in his late 70’s and boy did I have him trained well. I think my age, breed and speed was very helpful with this. His answer to not being able to handle me was to crate me. Even though I loved him very much, I didn’t respect him. He wasn’t very good at discipline and therefore he didn’t take me anywhere or socialize me, which made me very skittish around any other animals, small children or loud people. I also was not completely housetrained when I was surrendered, however my new foster Mom and I worked very hard and I am now housetrained.
My foster Mom says that I am very smart and very trainable. I am learning how to walk nice on a leash and am being exposed to a lot of different things that I either didn’t like or was afraid of, which is greatly improving my socialization skills. I love to play, I am housetrained, crate trained, micro chipped, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I love to just sit on your lap and watch TV or the world go by. Originally we thought I would be best suited in a family without any other animals or children. However, since being with my foster Mom, I get along great with other dogs, cats and children over 12 years old. I would be a perfect companion for a family that is willing to spend time with me and show me love and affection. So if you have a broken heart that needs mending and you would love to have a lap dog as a companion - I would really appreciate your considering me. The rescue prefers that you have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. However, I would do fine in an apartment or townhouse that is not completely fenced as long as I am kept on a leash when ever I am outside. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE:Molly was adopted 9/5/10 by a very loving family in St Ignace, MI.

NAME: Monty
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Vet says between 4 and 5 years young
COLOR: Black, docked and cropped
WEIGHT: 66#
BIO: Hey there, my name is Monty. I was found wandering forlornly down an old farm road and was picked up by a couple of young adults . Boy, was I glad to see them. I was a matted filthy mess and they knew I desperately needed to be saved. They brought me to their home and their Mother contacted the Rescue. I was taken to another rescue in Montrose, MI until SCBR could come pick me up in a couple of days. I will be eternally grateful to the young adults that stepped up and made this all possible. My "before" pictures were so deplorable that you couldn't even tell I was under all those matts and garbage. I had wire shavings embedded in my fur and matts that were so close to the skin I ended up with some bald spots in order to remove them. I also have been shot with BB's and there is still one embedded in the top of my head that you can feel. I had a couple of them removed already. They had to give me three baths in order to get me clean and the maggots off of me. Unbelievably under all that crud was ME :-) I am beautifully cropped, they did dock my tail a little longer than I would have liked and you can see every bone in my body, but I am safe, alive and being well taken care of until I find my new forever home. I am so friendly it is unbelievable. I guess I am just happy to be alive. Not one person that I have met have I treated like a stranger - I just love everyone. I am house-trained, and absolutely LOVE to go for car rides. I get along fine with other dogs, children and adults. I love to run and play, but am also completely content just sitting or laying next to you on the floor. Every time I go outside I immediately run to the driveway gate hoping that I am going for another ride. I love to sit in the seat and just watch the world go by. I also love to go on walks. I am fairly good on leash, once I get over the excitement of going somewhere. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heart worm negative and on heart worm preventative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. They don't know if I am cat friendly or not - because they have been unable to find any cats willing to be tested with me. If you are looking for a new companion and best friend - look no further - I am your boy. I have quite a few years that I would be more than happy to spend with you.
**UPDATE Monty was adopted 8/21/10 by a fantastic "repeat offender" in the rescue adoption world. Here is a picture of Monty with his new forever family, Mom, Dad and sister Scout. We met his new family in St Johns, MI and he was going to proceed up to northern Michigan for a vacation and return to South Bend, IN where he will be a permanent resident

NAME: Ross
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix
GENDER: Female
AGE: Born 1/29/10
COLOR: Dark brown brindle
BIO: Hi there, my name is Ross. I was named that after the person that helped to deliver me - I was the first born :-) I will already have my age-appropriate vaccinations. I will be best suited in a family that will be home with me on a regular basis. I am very intelligent and will be easy to train if you are willing to put the time into it. Because of my breed I am going to be very agile. So if you are looking for a "couch potato" that I am not. If you are looking for a playful and inquisitive dog - I am your girl. Ocassionally crating me when you leave will be fine, but not for extended periods or time such as working a full time job. My adoption donation will be $150. You will be required to sign a spay/neuter contract in order to adopt me. Once I am spayed, and the contract is returned to SCBR your $50 spay deposit will be refunded if you would like. I am very well socialized and will get along with everyone and everything. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI with my Mom, Piper. All my other siblings found wonderful forever homes.
**UPDATE: Ross was adopted by her foster Mom in Almont, MI. She will now live in the life of luxury, love and contentment along with her sister Kenzie.

NAME: Scout (renamed Sulley)
BREED: Australian Shepherd
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Approx. 1yr young
WEIGHT: approx. 40#
COLOR: Black, brown and white, docked tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Scout. I was picked up as a stray and surrendered to the rescue. I have a fantastic personality and get along with everyone. I am very inquisitive and definitely could use a job. I love to play fetch and just run around and burn up my excess energy. I am very playful and get along great with other dogs. I am housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I don't know if I get along with cats or not. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Scout/Sulley was adopted 1/12/10 by a very loving and compassionate family in Shelby Twp, MI.

NAME: Sophie
BREED: Chihuahua
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 12-16-08
COLOR: Tan on White
WEIGHT: 6#
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Sophie. I was surrendered by my family because they were not home very much and needless to say didn't have time to properly train me. I am very loving and smart. Thanks to my foster Mom I am completely housetrained, socialized and have good doggie manners. I get along great with other dogs, cats and people. My foster Mom says that I am an absolute riot. I am a typical Chihuahua, I play the meek little dog - but when I know you and love you I come out of my shell. I love to run and play around the yard with the other dogs. I also love to be held or t sit on your lap and be loved. My prior owners didn't let me be a dog. They had all kinds of cute little outfits and loved to dress me up and treat me like their baby - when they had time for me. My foster Mom wants a family for me that will let me be a dog and a loving companion. Because I am so small and "breakable" it would not be advisable if I were adopted to a family with children under the age of 8. So if you are looking for a loving, energetic, smart and young companion to sit on your lap and listen to your problems - I could be your "cuddle bunny". Here's a picture of me all boxed up and ready to go to my new forever home. I am UTD on all vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. It would be fantastic if you had a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me - but other arrangements could be made.
**UPDATE: Sophie was adopted 12/5/10 by a fantastic family in Garden City, MI. This is the same family that adopted another Chihuahua from us last December named Loki (renamed Avery).

NAME: Sparky
BREED: Wire Fox Terrier
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born August 2008
COLOR: Tri-Color, Brown & Black on White
WEIGHT: Approx 25#
BIO: Meet Sparky, isn‘t he gorgeous! He is a great little dog who is completely housetrained, crate trained and LOVES kids. Sparky lived with a cat, but still wants to chases them, so we don’t think we would trust him totally with a cat, after all, he is a terrier. Sparky is very active and loves to play. He was sold by a breeder to an older woman that was mourning the loss of her husband and her elderly dog. She was told by the breeder not to neuter him and by the time he was 10 months old he was running the house and the woman had absolutely no control over him. The problem is that he was sold to a woman that did not have a dominant bone in her body and was not physically able to dominate him or show him who was boss, he was excessively caged and just never taught anything. Sparky has been with his foster Mom since November of 2009. Since he was neutered he has now learned to play with other dogs, sit on command and stands perfectly to be groomed. Sparky needs to go to someone who is familiar with the terrier breed, he IS a true terrier. He is not destructive but very active and his mind is always going. The perfect situation for him is to go to someone who would like to do agility. He would do awesome with obedience and companionship. Check out his balancing act on the towels in his picture and sitting on one of the other foster pups J He loves to just sit by you and watch the world go by or to sit on your lap or next to you. He is not real snuggly yet, he is still too independent. Every so often he feels he MUST chase something. He loves to play tug. Sparky is the perfect terrier and the foster Mom will be very picky as to who adopts him. They must be familiar with the breed and be an active person who is willing to train him and teach him things. He is not a bad dog, he is very intelligent and will run you or the household if he is allowed to. He just needs to have all that energy and intelligence directed. Years ago the foster Mom had one that excelled in obedience trials, tricks, she could do them all - and Sparky is right there. He is a fast learner if he respects you. The foster Mom would love to keep him, but doesn’t feel it is fair to him because she just doesn’t have the time to bring out his full potential. Sparky is UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt him. Sparky is being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Sparky was adopted 1/30/10 by a fantastic family in Norwalk, OH. Sparky not only has a knowledgeable and loving family, but also has a new WFT sister named Nudge.

NAME: TAYLOR (renamed Addison)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female
AGE: approx 12-15 months young
COLOR: Gray brindle, natural ears & tail
WEIGHT: 70#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Taylor. I was surrendered to the Taylor Animal Control by a gentleman that said he just found me that day and could not keep me. I was taken directly to the vet for a check up, shots, heartworm check and to see if I was spayed or not. Well, the good news was that I do not have heartworm. Instead the rescue was told that I was going to have puppies in 2-3 weeks. On 6/25/10 I surprised and blessed the rescue with eleven beautiful and healthy puppies, two males and nine females. I amn completely house trained and crate trained. I ride very well in the car and get along fantastic with other dogs, cats, children and adults. Everyone that has met me has fallen in love with me. I have a fantastic disposition and personality and just want to be near you. So if you have room in your heart and home for a fantastic companion - I would really appreciate your considering me. I will be spayed, UTD on all vaccinations and on heartworm preventative prior to adoption. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Westland, MI
**UPDATE: On 8/8/10 I went to visit my new forever home in Plymouth, MI. On 8./13/10 I was spayed and on 8/14/10 I officially got to go to my new forever home to recouperate. Here is a picture of me (so forlorn looking) the day I was rescued from the shelter (on top). The middle picture is of me checking out my NEW forever home backyard. You would not believe how big my new backyard is. I made myself right at home. The bottom picture is of me (rolling over and showing off my spay scar along with my two new sisters Bella and Charlotte, my new forever Mom and forever sister and brother. Don't we look like a happy family :-) I was doing the "happy, happy, joy, joy dance in the backyard while they were trying to take pictures of us :-) I had numerous people interested in adopting me - thank you. For everyone that didn't get to adopt me - PLEASE do consider one of my babies - they will also need as loving a home as I have gotten.

NAME: Teddy
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres (AKC)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 4/23/05
WEIGHT: 115#
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi there, my name is Teddy. I was surrendered by my family because they could no longer keep me. I am really sweet, intelligent, and a very loyal companion. I can be skittish/wary around strangers, but once I know you I will accept you and be devoted to you. I take the job of guarding my family very seriously. I loved to follow my owner around the house and would do the “Bouvier Bounce” when she came home from work. I am affectionate and I love attention. I am pretty good around other dogs, especially if they are laid back little females J I am completely house trained and fully obedience trained. My former Mom spent years working with me and I know all of my commands in English, German and hand signals. I walk very well on a leash. My only downfalls are that I am very high prey-drive and I do try to herd small children. I don’t always realize how big and strong I am, which can lead to problems. I have, on occasion, been known to do a little garbage can diving, especially if there is chicken involved - which is my favorite food. I do need someone that can both physically and mentally challenge me and remind me who is alpha. I am not destructive at all and have a very low energy level indoors. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Westland, MI.
**UPDATE: Teddy was adopted 9/4/10 by a "three time repeat offender" in Westlake, OH. His new Mom and Dad drove up to get him and drove back home. Here is a picture of Teddy, a picture with his new Mom and Dad and a picture with his brother Addison. Teddy never even made it to our available website because his new family was on our waiting list just waiting for the right boy to come in.

NAME: Tonka
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix GENDER: Male AGE: Born 1/29/10 COLOR: Cream BIO: Hi there, my name is Tonka. I was named that because when I was born I was the biggest one and looked like a "tonka" truck compared to the others:-) I will not be available for adoption until the first part of April.
**UPDATE: Tonka was adopted by a very loving family in Dryden, MI
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of "little Tonka" when he was almost month old. Also a picture of Tonka when he was almost seven months old - what a beautiful boy

NAME: Tucker
BREED: Labrador Retriever (yellow)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4 years young
COLOR: Cream
WEIGHT: 92#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Tucker. I was originally found stray in Marlette, MI. After unsuccessfully trying to find my owners, the family that found me was going to try to keep me. However, with a young child, both people working, another dog and no fenced in yard, it proved to be too much for them to take on, so they decided to surrender me to the rescue. I am a fantastic dog and if there wouldn't have been so much on their plate, the people that found me would have loved to keep me. I am just grateful that they did take me in and love me rather than leave me on my own. I am housetrained, I absolutely adore children and other dogs. I am exceptionally well mannered and would make anyone a wonderful, loving companion. I am very easy going. I LOVE to play ball. I will stick right with you when I am out in the yard when I am off-leash. I just want to hang out and be your buddy. I do not like being left outside alone. That is most likely why I ended up a stray. I just want to be with people. If I am left alone I will wander off looking for someone to be with. I am not obnoxious in any way. My foster Mom and everyone that has met me says I am a GREAT DOG (and I have to agree with them J I am heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations and on heartworm preventative. It is probably safe to assume I am not cat friendly. My foster Mom has cats and I don‘t chase them, but I have never been left alone with them so no one knows for sure. I am very sensitive to voice commands so they feel I could easily be “called off” and am very trainable. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Tucker was adopted 8/31/10 by a very loving and compassionate family in Chelsea, MI. Here is a picture of Tucker with his new "forever Dad". It's like Tucker knew he was going home because as soon as he came out he went right over to the van and looked in as if to say, "am I driving, or are you?"

NAME: Winnie
BREED: Pug
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 3/23/08
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black
BIO: Please meet Winnie. Winnie was surrendered to the groomer of our rescue due to the owners health issues. Winnie is house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash - and as you can tell - overweight :-) Our groomer has known Winnie since she was just a pup. She gets along great with people, dogs and cats. Winnie is microchipped, UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. We would prefer that all our rescues go to homes with completely fenced and secure yards. However, because of Winnie's size, she would also do well in a condo, apartment or townhouse where she can be exercised and she can take care of her business on.
**UPDATE: Winnie was adopted 9/14/10 by a very loving family in Holly, MI
