ADOPTED 2010

NAME: Aiden
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/Bearded Collie mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 5yro
COLOR: Black & white, natural ears and tail
WEIGHT: 117#
BIO: Well hello everyone, my name is Aiden. I have been with another rescue for a couple of years and kept in a kennel. Yes, I am a little on the portly side :-) When I arrived originally, I had the run of the place and my weight was kept down - I should only weigh about 90#. However, because I was never listed on a website - no one knew I was desperately looking for a home. I am very clean in my kennel which usually means I am housetrained. I may require a slight refresher course - but I am very willing to learn. I am as friendly as can be, but am very intimidating when in a car or behind a fence. But once I am not confined I am a real doll. I am just a BIG friendly dog. I do know how to sit, but I need some work walking on a leash. Once I start getting some regular exercise, I should slim down quite well. I am very friendly and outgoing and get along well with adults and older children. I will probably get along with other dogs, but definitely no cats. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I am really hoping that now people know that I am available that I will finally find my forever home and family. I have been waiting a very long time to have someone to call my own. If you are looking for a best friend and companion - look no further - I am your man. I am currently being fostered in Dryden, MI. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Aiden was adopted 6/26/10 by a phenomenal family that drove up to get him from Yardley, PA. Here is a picture of Aiden with his new "forever family". Such a wonderful, loving family - Aiden couldn't have found a better home :-)

BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix
GENDER: Male
AGE: Born 1/29/10
COLOR: Fawn Brindle w/black mask
BIO: Hi there, my name is Chuckie. I was named that because when I was born I looked like a little woodchuck :-) I will not be available for adoption until the first part of April. I will already have my age-appropriate vaccinations. My adoption donation will be $150. You will be required to sign a spay/neuter contract in order to adopt me. Once I am neutered, and the contract is returned to SCBR your $50 neuter deposit will be refunded if you would like. I am very well socialized and will get along with everyone and everything. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.

NAME: Dolly
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 8/04 (approx)
COLOR: Gray & Silver, natural ears & natural tail
WEIGHT: 65#
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Dolly. Are you lonely, depressed, need a loving companion that will brighten your day? Well, I am just what the doctor ordered!!! I am completely housetrained and will follow you to the ends of the earth. I was surrendered back to SCBR because there was a new baby in the family. The problem is that now that the baby is crawling I think he wants to play and my parents were a little leery that I might accidentally scratch him. Plus I bark at him because he won't play and it startles him and them. I am a very sweet and affectionate dog and always want to be close to my family. I love to play, go for walks and for rides. Being an only dog, I do get a little nervous when I am around strange dogs. Once properly introduced I get along fine with them. I would enjoy being with a family with older children, because I do love to play and enjoy companionship. So if you're down, and feel like no one loves you - please consider me. I would like nothing better than to be your loving and faithful companion. I am fantastic with adults and just adore children (non toddlers). I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Dolly was adopted 4/6/10 by a very loving family in Attica, MI. Here is a picture of Dolly with her new forever Mom & Dad.

NAME: Emma Joy
BREED: English Cocker Spaniel
GENDER: Female (spayed)
COLOR: Black on White
AGE: Born 8/13/08
WEIGHT: 25#
BIO: Please meet Emma Joy. As her name implies- Emma is truly a joy. People always comment on how pretty she is. Emma Joy is house trained, crate trained, has had obedience classes, she is socialized and loves to go to doggy day care to play with other dogs. Emma Joy is a very energetic dog that needs to be in a home where she is played with, walked or run every day. She is smart, affectionate and very obedient. So why are we looking for another loving home for her? Emma Joy was purchased when she was only 10 weeks old from a very prestigious kennel in Barrington, IL (champion blood lines). At the time her family had a very old Golden Retriever. They were together for about 6 good months before they had to put their Golden Retriever down. Emma Joy then got very depressed. She would look forward to running the fence lines with the neighbors large dogs. She was taken to doggy day care twice a week - which she absolutely loved. Emma’s mother decided to adopt another female English Cocker that was a month younger as a companion for Emma. The two dogs ended up being very different. Emma is a very high energy dog. She is very independent - will sit by you for several minutes and then she's off exploring. We feel that if she was exercised more it would wear off some of this energy, because she's often quiet and tired after doggy day care. The other dog was very quiet and reserved and became very possessive of all the toys and Emma would usually just back off. They seemed fine together, they were loving, playful companions. But because of the other one’s dominant side, and Emma’s submissive side - future altercations were eminent. This has been a very agonizing, soul-searching time for Emma‘s owner - she loved both dogs. However, she finally decided that the other dog fit in better with her life style - she's quiet and cuddly. Emma needs a home where she's either the top dog or has a male dog to play with and owners who would provide her with daily walks. Because Emma’s owner did not physically have the strength and stamina to accommodate Emma’s exuberance she decided that she had to do what was best for everyone and what was in Emma’s best interest. She feels Emma would be much happier and a real treasure in the right home. Emma is a purebred and has papers. She is neutered, micro chipped and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Emma Joy. Because of her exuberance she most likely would not get along well with cats.
**UPDATE: Emma Joy was adopted 2/21/10 by a fantastic and loving couple from Marthasville, MO.

NAME: Leila (renamed Spycee)
BREED: German Shepherd Dog
GENDER: Female (spayed)
BORN: Approx 12/10/09
WEIGHT: 27#
COLOR: Black & tan
BIO: Hi there, my name is Leila. I was rescued from a terrible situation where I was kept crated most of my life. The unsanitary conditions were so deplorable that the neighbors complained about the smell. I am now being fostered in Almont, MI and am having the time of my life. I look big in the picture, but I am only a baby. I was not housetrained when I was rescued but thanks to my foster Mom and Dad the three of us are getting a handle on the situation. I am all puppy and just love to run, play and give lots of kisses. I get along with everyone and everything and possibly would get along with a cat because I am young enough that I don't know the difference between a cat and a dog yet. I would be best suited in a family that had children and also had the time to work with me and train me. Because of my age I should not go to a family that cannot devote time and attention into making me a "good canine citizen". If you are looking for someone to capture your heart, look no further - I am your girl. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on preventative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Leila (Spycee) was adopted by a fantastic family in Dryden, MI.

NAME: Ling-Ling(renamed Kennzie)
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix

BIO: Hi there, my name is Ling-Ling. I was named that because when I was born I looked like a little panda bear :-) I will not be available for adoption until the first part of April. I will already have my age-appropriate vaccinations. My adoption donation will be $150. You will be required to sign a spay/neuter contract in order to adopt me. Once I am spayed, and the contract is returned to SCBR your $50 spay deposit will be refunded if you would like. I am very well socialized and will get along with everyone and everything. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
UPDATE: Ling-Ling (renamed Kennzie) was adopted by a fantastic family in Almont, MI.

NAME: Miles
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 3/11/03
WEIGHT: 120#
COLOR: Fawn, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi there, my name is Miles. I was tearfully surrendered by my Mom because they had to move and could not have a fenced yard to keep me safe. I am housetrained, know hand commands, absolutely love car rides, children and adults. I get along fine with other dogs. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Miles was adopted 4/18/10 by a fantastic family in Milan, MI. This family had adopted two rescued Bouviers in the past and one of them passed away just recently. They were looking for a female companion - however Miles' personality and manners fit their needs to a "T". This was a match made in heaven.

NAME: Minnie
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix
GENDER: Female
AGE: Born 1/29/10
COLOR: Cream
BIO: Hi there, my name is Minnie. I was named that because when I was born I was the runt of the litter :-) I have been housetrained and UTD on all applicable age appropriate vaccinations. Because I was born with a hernia, I will have to wait until I am old enough to safely repair this problem. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me.
UPDATE: Minnie was adopted 4/23/10 by a very loving and patient family in White Lake, MI. They understood that Minnie had to have hernia repair surgery and were more than willing to wait until we could have it done and she had successfully made a full recovery.

NAME: Molly
BREED: Pekingese/Pomeranian (PekePom)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 8/2/09
WEIGHT: approx 12#
COLOR: Sable on White
BIO: Hi there, my name is Molly. I was originally purchased from a pet store to help an elderly gentleman with his loneliness after his wife passed away. He was in his late 70’s and boy did I have him trained well. I think my age, breed and speed was very helpful with this. His answer to not being able to handle me was to crate me. Even though I loved him very much, I didn’t respect him. He wasn’t very good at discipline and therefore he didn’t take me anywhere or socialize me, which made me very skittish around any other animals, small children or loud people. I also was not completely housetrained when I was surrendered, however my new foster Mom and I worked very hard and I am now housetrained.
My foster Mom says that I am very smart and very trainable. I am learning how to walk nice on a leash and am being exposed to a lot of different things that I either didn’t like or was afraid of, which is greatly improving my socialization skills. I love to play, I am housetrained, crate trained, micro chipped, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I love to just sit on your lap and watch TV or the world go by. Originally we thought I would be best suited in a family without any other animals or children. However, since being with my foster Mom, I get along great with other dogs, cats and children over 12 years old. I would be a perfect companion for a family that is willing to spend time with me and show me love and affection. So if you have a broken heart that needs mending and you would love to have a lap dog as a companion - I would really appreciate your considering me. The rescue prefers that you have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. However, I would do fine in an apartment or townhouse that is not completely fenced as long as I am kept on a leash when ever I am outside. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.

**NOTE: In just the short amount of time that Molly has been with her new foster Mom, she has already made tremendous improvements socially. Her foster Mom says she is just an awesome little dog, and will make someone a fantastic companion.

NAME: Ross
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix
GENDER: Female
AGE: Born 1/29/10
COLOR: Dark brown brindle
BIO: Hi there, my name is Ross. I was named that after the person that helped to deliver me - I was the first born :-) I will already have my age-appropriate vaccinations. I will be best suited in a family that will be home with me on a regular basis. I am very intelligent and will be easy to train if you are willing to put the time into it. Because of my breed I am going to be very agile. So if you are looking for a "couch potato" that I am not. If you are looking for a playful and inquisitive dog - I am your girl. Ocassionally crating me when you leave will be fine, but not for extended periods or time such as working a full time job. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI with my Mom, Piper. All my other siblings found wonderful forever homes.
**UPDATE: Ross was adopted by her foster Mom in Almont, MI. She will now live in the life of luxury, love and contentment along with her sister Kenzie.

NAME: Scout (renamed Sulley)
BREED: Australian Shepherd
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Approx. 1yr young
WEIGHT: approx. 40#
COLOR: Black, brown and white, docked tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Scout. I was picked up as a stray and surrendered to the rescue. I have a fantastic personality and get along with everyone. I am very inquisitive and definitely could use a job. I love to play fetch and just run around and burn up my excess energy. I am very playful and get along great with other dogs. I am housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I don't know if I get along with cats or not. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Scout/Sulley was adopted 1/12/10 by a very loving and compassionate family in Shelby Twp, MI.

NAME: Sparky
BREED: Wire Fox Terrier
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born August 2008
COLOR: Tri-Color, Brown & Black on White
WEIGHT: Approx 25#
BIO: Meet Sparky, isn‘t he gorgeous! He is a great little dog who is completely housetrained, crate trained and LOVES kids. Sparky lived with a cat, but still wants to chases them, so we don’t think we would trust him totally with a cat, after all, he is a terrier. Sparky is very active and loves to play. He was sold by a breeder to an older woman that was mourning the loss of her husband and her elderly dog. She was told by the breeder not to neuter him and by the time he was 10 months old he was running the house and the woman had absolutely no control over him. The problem is that he was sold to a woman that did not have a dominant bone in her body and was not physically able to dominate him or show him who was boss, he was excessively caged and just never taught anything. Sparky has been with his foster Mom since November of 2009. Since he was neutered he has now learned to play with other dogs, sit on command and stands perfectly to be groomed. Sparky needs to go to someone who is familiar with the terrier breed, he IS a true terrier. He is not destructive but very active and his mind is always going. The perfect situation for him is to go to someone who would like to do agility. He would do awesome with obedience and companionship. Check out his balancing act on the towels in his picture and sitting on one of the other foster pups J He loves to just sit by you and watch the world go by or to sit on your lap or next to you. He is not real snuggly yet, he is still too independent. Every so often he feels he MUST chase something. He loves to play tug. Sparky is the perfect terrier and the foster Mom will be very picky as to who adopts him. They must be familiar with the breed and be an active person who is willing to train him and teach him things. He is not a bad dog, he is very intelligent and will run you or the household if he is allowed to. He just needs to have all that energy and intelligence directed. Years ago the foster Mom had one that excelled in obedience trials, tricks, she could do them all - and Sparky is right there. He is a fast learner if he respects you. The foster Mom would love to keep him, but doesn’t feel it is fair to him because she just doesn’t have the time to bring out his full potential. Sparky is UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt him. Sparky is being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Sparky was adopted 1/30/10 by a fantastic family in Norwalk, OH. Sparky not only has a knowledgeable and loving family, but also has a new WFT sister named Nudge.

NAME: Tucker
BREED: Labrador Retriever (yellow)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4 years young
COLOR: Cream
WEIGHT: 92#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Tucker. I was originally found stray in Marlette, MI. After unsuccessfully trying to find me owners, the family that found me was going to try to keep me. However, with a young child, both people working, another dog and no fenced in yard, it proved to be too much for them to take on, so they decided to surrender me to the rescue. I am a fantastic dog and if there wouldn't have been so much on their plate, the people that found me would have loved to keep me. I am just grateful that they did take me in and love me rather than leave me on my own. I am housetrained, I absolutely adore children and other dogs. I am exceptionally well mannered and would make anyone a wonderful, loving companion. I am heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations and on heartworm preventative. It is probably safe to assume I am not cat friendly, but no one knows for sure. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am currently being fostered by the people that found me in Marlette, MI
**UPDATE: Tucker was officially adopted by his foster parents in Marlette, MI. Tucker earned his way into their heart by "taking out" a pesky woodchuck that the husband had been trying unsuccessfully to get rid of for over a year.

#6
NAME: Tonka
BREED: Australian Cattledog/Yellow Lab mix GENDER: Male AGE: Born 1/29/10 COLOR: Cream BIO: Hi there, my name is Tonka. I was named that because when I was born I was the biggest one and looked like a "tonka" truck compared to the others:-) I will not be available for adoption until the first part of April.
**UPDATE: Tonka was adopted by a very loving family in Dryden, MI

NAME: Violet
BREED: Boxer/Hound/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix?
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born October 2004
WEIGHT: Approx 65#
COLOR: Light Red/Dark Blond
BIO: Well, hi there, my name is Violet. I was surrendered because my owners could no longer care for me. I am a very loving, active girl who is desperately longing to have a great forever home. I am very willing and eager to please. I do know basic obedience commands (i.e. sit, shake, down, wait). I am both house and crate trained. I just love to go on walks and promise to be a loyal and loving companion. I get along well with other dogs my own size. (Violet had a mild altercation with a small Beagle, we think she was trying to play because she did have him on the ground and was mouthing him - no bites or puncture wounds. Because of her enthusiasm - we feel she would do better with a dog her own size.) I do get along with older children and people in general.
VIOLET‘S FOSTER MOM WROTE: “Violet is an absolutely awesome dog. She is just a doll. She loves to lay in my shop and watch me groom the other dogs. Not hyper by any means. She likes to meet other dogs and is a little forward about it at first, but if the other dog is game - she just wants to play. When she sees the leash she just about jumps out of her skin. She stands by the door with her butt up in the air and her tail a waggin’, and she just can’t wait. I make her sit to get hooked up and then out the door we go. She really wants to be with you. She will go into the kennel area and play with the other dogs, but when I call her, she comes running and walks very nice on the leash. Violet has very good manners with very little need of correction. At first she wanted to haul me around, but with very little correction she now walks very nicely. She sits on command and has lots of common sense. Just an easy going dog, quiet, non barker, she gets in her teasing moods and she will try to get the other dogs going, but if they so much as snap at her, she is done. I cannot understand why no one has adopted Violet yet, people really don’t know what they are missing. She is totally housetrained and does not jump on people. I don’t think I would trust her with a cat. She gets pretty focused on mine and when I tell her to “leave it” she will turn away, but she has that look like she would still like to get a hold of the cat.
Can't you please find room in your heart and home for me, I have been patiently waiting it seems like forever. I was spoken for a couple of times, but the people adopted puppies from someone else. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI.
**UPDATE: Violet was adopted 6/19/10 by a fantastic family in Ypsilanti, MI. Violet may have waited a long time for the "right" forever family to find her - but it was well worth it. We could not have asked for a more loving family for Violet
