ADOPTED 2008

NAME: Abbie
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 06/19/01
WEIGHT: 80#
COLOR: Dark gray brindle, docked, natural ears
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Abbie. I was surrendered to rescue because my former owners could no longer take care of me due to their own medical problems. My family has had me since I was 3.5 months old and this was a very difficult decision for them to have to make. I was surrendered along with my brother Duffy, we do not necessarily have to be adopted together, although it would be nice. If you are looking for a loving companion that gets along great with children (even small ones), is housetrained, loves to play - then I am your girl. Please don't let my age deter you from considering me. I still act like a puppy. I love to run and play and run in the grass. I am perfectly able to walk up to 4 miles a day and after a short breather, and am ready to go again. I am very well mannered, friendly, funny, intuitive, very well trained - just an all around "gentle giant". Can't you please find room in your heart and home for me? I promise you will not regret your decision. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and ready to go. I am not cat or squirrel friendly. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Both Abbie & Duffy were adopted together 8/9/08 by a very loving and compassionate young family from Greenville, SC. They couldn't bear the thought of the two of them being separated. It was love at first sight for everyone. We took so many wonderful pictures of the four of them, here are just a few of them. They both happily hopped up into the back of the vehicle and were headed to their new forever home.

NAME: Abbey
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born March 2002
WEIGHT: Approx 65#
COLOR: Gray Brindle, docked tail, cropped ears
BIO: Hi, my name is Abbey. I was surrendered to rescue because my original family had to relocate and was unable to take me with them. I was adopted out once but returned due to my high prey drive. I had never been walked by my original owners and was not used to the sights and sounds I encountered in the woods or on a busy street. My biggest problem is that I consider all small animals as "prey" no matter what the species. If it runs, I feel it is my job to chase and catch it. If I am walked, it must be by a person that is in complete control and knows what I am capable of doing. I would be best suited in a home with access to a big fenced in yard. I am perfectly content being played with in the yard where we are all safe and sound. I am housetrained, heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations and definitely not cat friendly or small dog friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure y ard to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Today, 5/22/08, was the day that Abbey has been patiently waiting for. Abbey was adopted by a very loving and Bouvier saavy Dad. She not only has a new forever Dad, but also a Bouvier brother named Nic. Nic and Abbey hit it off from the moment they first met. Abbey now resides in Detroit, MI.

NAME: Bandit
BREED: Bassett Hound (AKC)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 8/18/07
WEIGHT: 22#
COLOR: Tri-color (black, brown, white)
BIO: Hi, my name is Bandit. My former owners purchased me from a breeder about five weeks ago. They really thought they wanted a Bassett puppy, but found they didn't really have the time or patience to do the "puppy thing". I am in the process of being housetrained. I am crate trained. I was raised with three cats and get along great with them. I get along great with just about everyone and everything, dogs, children, adults. I have one blue eye and one brown eye. I am UTD on all vaccinations. Please keep in mind that I am just a baby and will need YOU to teach me what you expect of me. I will probably get to be about 65-70# when full grown. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am "ALL EARS" waiting to hear that my forever family is coming to take me home. I am being fostered in Almont, MI. Also I AM cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Bandit was adopted 1/29/08 by a fabulous family in St. Clair Shores, MI. Bandit not only has a new loving Mom & Dad, but also three children and a female Basset Hound named, Petunia for companionship. It was love at first sight for Bandit as well as his new forever family.

NAME: Beau (Beauregard) AKC
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 1/4/08
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked tail, natural ears
WEIGHT: 63#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Beauregard - but please call me Beau. My brother and I are in dire need of a bath and grooming - new pictures will follow shortly. I was surrendered along with my two siblings by a breeder that could no longer take care of us. There were nine in our litter and thankfully everyone else found a home except us. We were supposed to be housetrained, crate trained and socialized - however we are not - but the rescue is now trying to correct that. We are all very skittish and cautious - but with the right person and a lot of love and attention - we are young enough and willing enough to learn that it shouldn't take too long. We are UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. Not too sure about cats, so would be better to say we are not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard (no electric or invisible fences) in order to adopt us. There will be no exceptions made - so please do not ask.
**UPDATE: Beau was adopted 10/31/08 by a very loving family in Clyde, MI. He not only has a new forever Mom & Dad but also has an older Bouvier sister named Belle.

NAME: Buddy
BREED: Labrador Retriever
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 1/4/08
COLOR: Black
WEIGHT: approx 50#
BIO: Hi, my name is Buddy. I was surrendered to rescue because there was a serious family illness and my Dad can no longer take care of me. Even though family members were crushed beyond belief to let me go, they knew it was best for me. Everyone has full time jobs and I am too young and too good of a boy to have to stay in a cage all day long. One family member was considering taking me in, but they have an elderly dog that really is not too interested in sharing his toys or family with a young whippersnapper like me. It would be great if I could share a home with another canine friend to play with, but I would even love to have a human and/or kids with a good throwing arm because I love, love, love to play fetch. I am 99% housetrained, I love kids, cats, dogs, squeeky toys, tennis balls, etc. I just love someone to throw a tennis ball. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I AM cat friendly too. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
UPDATE: Buddy was adopted 11/10/08 by a very loving family that came down from Elmhurst, IN. Buddy not only has a new Mom, Dad and three children to play with, but also has a three year old Black Lab sister named Sally. Buddy ran and played the whole time he was here and probably can't wait to get home and check out his new family's throwing arm.

NAME: Bob
BREED: Border Collie mix
GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: 1/01/08 approx
WEIGHT: 26.4#
COLOR: Black & White
BIO: Hi there, my name is Bob. I was picked up as a stray by the police and brought to the rescue. I have the personality and brains of a Border Collie, possible tail and eyes of a Beagle and coat of a Northern Breed dog. I absolutely LOVE other dogs. I am very smart and would make a great agility dog. I am very neat and clean in a crate so I am crate trained, don't know for sure about being housetrained yet - but am working on that now. I would make a very loving and loyal companion for your family. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I have not been cat tested yet, so there is a possibility that I could get along with a dog friendly cat.
**UPDATE: Bob was adopted 6/17/08 by a wonderful, loving family in Southgate MI. Bob not only has a new forever family but also a new sister named Maggie.

NAME: Boomer
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/Irish Wolfhound mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 2/14/00
COLOR: Black/brown brindle, natural ears & tail
WEIGHT: approx 95#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Boomer. I was originally surrendered to a vet in Allen Park, MI and taken into SCBR in 2000 when I was only 10 months old. I was adopted by a woman that lived in Lansing, MI. My former Mom came on very hard times and in the past couple of years I have been moved from place to place and not really had a home of my own. When SCBR was contacted because my Mom was going to have to go into a shelter they very willingly drove up to Lansing, MI and picked me up. They brought me back to the rescue farm and got me heartworm tested and updated on all my shots. They took care of me for a month with the understanding that when my Mom got a new place for us to live they would bring me back to her. It was very heartwrenching because she was all I had and I was all she had. When my Mom got settled, SCBR was nice enough to drive me back to Lansing, MI so I could be with my Mom again. Well, things did not work out as well as I would have liked them to and my Mom was evicted and I was left behind. A good samaratin contacted SCBR and they immediately came back to Lansing to save me. I am a good boy, very loving and obedient. I just need a secure home and family that I can love and be loved in return. I am housetrained and get along with people, older children and other dogs. If you could please find a place in your heart and home for me, I promise to reward you with all my love and kisses. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative but do not get along with cats. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Boomer was adopted 11/15/08 by a very loving and compassionate family in Eaton Rapids, MI. They fell in love with his pictures, it broke their hearts when they read his bio and decided he was the one they have been looking for. They drove over and welcomed him with open hearts and arms. Boomer finally has the loving family that he so desperately has deserved for quite a while.

NAME: Casey
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
COLOR: Fawn - docked tail, natural ears
AGE: 2yro
WEIGHT: 28#
BIO: Hi, my name is Casey. My previous owner tied me to the front door of the Animal Control in Belleville, MI. I am not housetrained - probably never even been in a house. I was just skin and bones when I was rescued. I had worms to the extent that I was almost anemic. I am very friendly, loving and willing to do anything for a pet or a kind word. I do walk fairly well on a leash. I get along fine with other dogs. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. **UPDATE: Casey was spoken for the day we picked him up. He was officially adopted on 8/15/08 by a very loving family in Corunna, MI that had adopted from us twice before. Casey not only has a new forever family but also has two new sisters, Raven & Honey. Casey's new Mom & Dad had also adopted a fawn from us named Tawney, who regretfully passed away. They have been patiently waiting for another fawn Bouvier and Casey was the one.

NAME: Coco (AKC name: Sweet as Hot Chocolatey Cocoa)
BREED: Labrador Retriever
GENDER: Female
AGE: Born 12/06
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Chocolate
BIO: Hi there, my name is Coco. I was surrendered by my family because they didn't have time for me. I am housetrained, know lots of commands, am very loving and obedient. I am also very shy, but that will all change when I get my new forever home. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. **UPDATE: Coco was adopted 7/17/08 by a very loving man in Dryden, MI the day after we took her in. This gentleman just recently had to say goodbye to his beloved Chocolate Lab named Tawney and asked us if we could find him another female Chocolate Lab - which we did.

NAME: COFFIE
BREED: Shih Tzu
GENDER: Male (neutered)
COLOR: Black, Silver, White Brindle
AGE: 8 years young
WEIGHT: #
BIO: This is Coffie. He is a very young 8yro Shih Tzu. Coffie is housebroken and an all around excellent dog. He prefers to be an only dog because he is used to getting all the attention. Coffie is being surrendered by his elderly owners due to their health problems. They can't play and walk him as much as he likes and they just don't feel that he should have to grow old prematurely just because they are. Coffie loves children, loves to play with his toys and is very active for his age. Our groomer has known and groomed him since he was a puppy and if she didn't know for a fact how old he is she would guess his age at 3-4 years old. Coffie is a great dog looking for a perfect home. Coffie tollerates other dogs but really prefers to be an only dog. He likes to play the "tough guy" routine in front of his owner and we would be afraid that the other dog would not understand his actions and someone mi ght get hurt. Coffie is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, no health issues that the vet knows of. He has always been a very healthy dog. Coffie is being fostered in Almont, MI by our groomer. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Coffie. He is not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Coffie has been adopted by a family member of her owner's.

NAME: Colby
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 2-3 years young
COLOR: Dark Gray brindle, docked tail, cropped ears
WEIGHT: 68#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Colby. I was surrendered to the Wyandotte Animal Control by my owners because they were going on vacation and didn't want me any longer. I am housetrained, very affectionate, fairly laid back and crate trained. Everyone at the shelter fell in love with me. I walk fairly well on a leash. I get along with other dogs and absolutely love people. Sorry I look so lethargic in these pictures but they were taken on my way home to the rescue farm right after I was spayed. I am taking a little "cat" nap in the van - as you can tell - I had a pretty rough day. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Colby was adopted 9/13/08 by a very compassionate and loving woman in Grand Rapids, MI. Here is a picture of Colby with her new "forever Mom" and new Tibetan Terrier sister named Daisy.

NAME: Daunte's Lucky Starr (renamed Julie)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born1/22/04
WEIGHT: 85#
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked, natural ears
BIO: Hi there, my name is Daunte's Lucky Starr, but you can call me Lucky. I was surrendered by my owner/breeder to a shelter in Indiana along with my mother, Starr. We were surrendered because our owner/breeder was too ill to take care of us. When SCBR came to get us, I was so relieved. I was a filthy, smelly, matted mess that had been kept outdoors most of my life with my Mom. I am a little shy when I first meet new people, but then I turn into a real marshmallow. I gave my groomer a real run for her money when she tried to groom me because all I wanted to do was roll over for belly rubs and snuggle. The first picture is my "before hairdo" the other pictures are my "after hairdo". Quite a difference, huh? I got an A+ for temperament and personality from my groomer as well as everyone at the vet clinic when I went in to be spayed. I do get along fine with other dogs and love people. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am definitely not cat friendly or small dog or small animal friendly.
**UPDATE: Well 11/8/08 was a very "lucky" day for Lucky. She was adopted by a very loving and Bouvier saavy family in Metamora, MI. Lucky not only has a new "forever" Mom & Dad, but also has a new Golden Retriever brother named Woody, who was also rescued by them

NAME: Duffy

My family has had me since I was 3.5 months old and this was a very difficult decision for them to have to make. I was surrendered along with my sister Abbie, we do not necessarily have to be adopted together, although it would be nice. NAME: Fiona
BREED: Yorkie Poo (Yorkshire Terrier & Poodle mix)
GENDER: Female (will need to be spayed when age appropriate)
AGE: Born 12/2/07
WEIGHT: approx 10#
COLOR: Black with White
BIO: Well hello everyone. My name is Fiona. I was surrendered by my owner who purchased me at a pet store (most likely making me a puppy mill puppy). So far I am crate and paper trained - working on being housetrained. I am still a little shy and I am working on that also. I just need some love and attention and I will be just fine. I will probably be about 13-15# when full grown. I am really a lot cuter than this picture shows. If you are looking for a small loving lap dog - I am your girl. I get along fine with other dogs and people. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. Most likely cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Fiona was adopted 6/14/08 by a very loving family in St Clair Shores MI

NAME: Grace's Midnight Starr (AKC)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 5/20/01
WEIGHT: 100#
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked, natural ears
BIO: Hi there, my name is Grace's Midnight Starr, but you can call me Starr. I was surrendered by my owner/breeder to a shelter in Indiana along with my daughter, Lucky. We were surrendered because our owner/breeder was too ill to take care of us. When SCBR came to get us, it was our lucky day. I was a filthy, smelly, matted mess and had been kept outdoors most of my life with my daughter. I had a bad ear infection but am on antibiotics and medicine to help clear it up . I am a regular love bug. I got an A+ for temperament and personality from my groomer as well as everyone at the vet clinic when I went in to be spayed. I could spend the rest of my life with my head in your lap while you petted me and whispered sweet nothings to me. The first picture is my "before hairdo" the other ones are my "after hairdo". Bet you didn't think it was the same dog. I was transformed form a scraggly looking buffalo into a butterfly. My groomer said that after she shaved me down and bathed me, she swore I was smiling at her. We all know how good we feel when we are squeaky clean and being cuddled. I do get along fine with other dogs and love people. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am definitely not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Starr was adopted 7/19/08 by a very loving "Bouvier family" in Chesterfield, MI. Starr not only has a new forever Mom & Dad, but also has a younger Bouvier sister named Riley to keep her company.

NAME: Hunter
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2-5 yro
WEIGHT: 100#
COLOR: Black, cropped ears, docked tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Hunter and I was an owner surrender to a shelter because I killed a cat. My previous owner knew that I was definitely not cat friendly and that I was very high prey drive - but disregarded the knowledge and put me in a position that was inevitable. Because of my high prey drive I would not be good with small dogs or livestock. Other than that, I am a very good boy. I can be somewhat stubborn at times - but I am a Bouvier - what can you expect. I get along very well with females close to my own size and would do well if adopted to a home with another dog for companionship. I definitely need a Bouvier saavy owner that is smarter than I think I am. I walk fairly well on leash and I am housetrained. I am UTD on all shots and heartworm negative. I am microchipped. Because I am a big boy, I would be best suited in a family without small children. You would need a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Hunter was adopted 2/23/08 by a very caring and understanding Bouvier person in Westlake, OH. Hunter also has a Bouvier brother named Addison who was also adopted from us in 2006.

NAME: Kelli
BREED: Blue-tick Coonhound (mix?)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 1.5 yro
WEIGHT: 62#
COLOR: Blue/black & white with blue ticking
BIO: Hello there, my name is Kelli. My former owner, who is a veteran, and his family has lost our home due to foreclosure. I lived harmoniously with three children and two other dogs. I am 62# of love and muscle and am a fairly strong dog. I am very people focused and good with children. I need an experienced family that can continue my obedience training. I am not good with cats, but I am good with male dogs or females that are larger than I am. I would be best suited as either an only dog or with a large male dog. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Kelli was adopted by her foster family.

NAME: Lucky
BREED: German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 3-4 yro.
WEIGHT: 60#
COLOR: Golden brown and white with black muzzle
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Lucky. I was removed from the yard I was living in because numerous people had called in complaints regarding my lack of food, water, shelter and obvious abuse and put into a shelter. I was rescued from the Macomb Animal Shelter by a very loving woman who had come to check on me daily to see if my previous owners would step forward and get me UTD on my shots and take me home. Thankfully, they didn't. The woman that visited me was unable to keep me because she lives in a high-rise apartment building. She called numerous rescues but no one had room to take me in. On my final day at the shelter, this kind woman came to visit me and give me a little love and attention, she knew she couldn't help keep me, but wanted to make my last few hours happy ones. She couldn't bear the thought of me being put to sleep after all the neglect and abuse I had received, so she bailed me out anyways. For three days and nights she slept with me in her car because she could not take me into the building she lived in. She contacted Second Chance Bouvier Rescue as a last resort hoping that her prayers for me would be answered and someone would be able to take me in. As much as I loved the one-on-one attention, it wasn't healthy for her nor I to be living out of her car. Second Chance said they would take me in. Our prayers were answered. So here I am at the foster farm hoping that there is a family out there that would be willing to open their hearts and home to me. I am a really good boy, I just need the opportunity to prove myself. Will you please give me a "second chance"? I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Lucky was adopted 12/21/08 by a wonderful and loving family in Trenton, MI. Lucky not only has a new forever family but also a new four legged brother named Buddy. Lucky's Christmas wish came thru and I am sure every day forward will be like Christmas to him

NAME: Megan
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 1 1/2 - 2yrs young
WEIGHT: 50#
COLOR: Fawn/Pepper & Salt - docked tail - cropped ears
BIO: Well hello everyone, my name is Megan. I was surrendered to a shelter in IN because my family was moving. Am I gorgeous or what?? Everyone that has seen me has been beside themselves because of my color and beautiful markings. Who says all Bouviers are black? I am a very special girl that loves being with people and being loved. I am a little underweight right now, but with lots of love and proper nutrition it shouldn't take long for me to fill out. I am housetrained, get along well with other dogs, older children, adults, I walk well on leash, and am a very good passenger in the car. I am not demanding of attention, but I will not refuse any that is offered. I am not aloof or shy, I am willing to give kisses to anyone I meet. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Megan was adopted 7/12/08 by a fantastic couple in Madison, WI. She not only had a new, loving forever home, but also a new Bouvier sister named Lexa, and two Bouvier cousins named Aldo (formerly Flanders adopted in 2002, by their daughter) and Kiki. Here is a picture of Megan with her new Dad. From the smiles on both their faces this is a definite "match made in heaven".

NAME: Kip renamed (Remmi)
BREED: Labrador Retriever (black)
GENDER: Male (too young to neuter yet)
AGE: Born 12/1/07 (approx)
WEIGHT: 4-5#
COLOR: Black
BIO: Hi there, my name is Kip. I was abandoned in a box by some heartless person. I am approximately 6 weeks young (according to the vet) and am desperately looking for a loving family that is interested in making room in their heart and home for me. I still want to suckle, so I haven’t been away from my Mom for very long. Most likely I was taken home by a young person and it was decided by their parents that I could not stay. So rather than giving me to someone that would care, I was left to fend for myself in the rain and cold. Thankfully someone was kind enough to pick me up and turn me into the rescue - I would not have made it on my own for very long. I have been wormed and have had my first puppy shots. Because I am so young, I cannot be neutered for a couple of months. I am just a little snuggle-bug and with a lot of love and care will make anyone a wonderful companion. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Because I am so young I would probably get along great with a cat.
**UPDATE: Kip was adopted 1/26/08 by a very loving family in Clarkston, MI. Kip not only has a new forever family but also has a young Chocolate Lab for a companion.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of Remmi (Kip) with his new brother Rockee - doing what he loves to do best - snuggle and sleep.

GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 4 yro
WEIGHT: approx 80#
COLOR: Black, tan & white
BIO: This is lovely Luna. She is an owner surrender due to a medical situation in her family. They are devastated having to give her up and are hopeing to find a home where Luna will be loved and cherished as she has been with them. Luna has never chewed or destroyed anything and is crate trained if she has to be left alone. Luna is an indoor dog, but loves going for walks and being outside to play and go potty. She loves to play fetch and on command, will bring the item back and drop it at your feet. She is used to being boarded when her owners went on vacation and does very well with other dogs and people. Luna is a very gentle, loving dog that would do well with a family or someone who is looking for a true companion. She will basically be your shadow. She is ha ppiest at her owners feet or in the same room with them. Her favorite place is in front of the fireplace or sun bathing. She makes a great foot stool and will warm your feet :-) Luna is accustomed to being left alone for long periods of time. She is a good watch dog, has a very keen sense of hearing and only barks when someone rings the door bell or when she hears a noise she will stand at attention. She loves to run and play in a fenced yard. Luna is very obedient and follows many verbal and hand commands, such as: come, sit, stay, wait, lay, go, leave-it, high five, go get it, bring it here, go get your toy, drop it and give. One of her favorite past times is going to the doggy spa to have her nails done and is used to being bathed at home in warm weather as well as at the doggy groomer. NAME: Maggie May
BREED: Cocker Spaniel
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 10/1/03
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black
BIO: This is Maggie May. She is a 4.5yro Cocker Spaniel. Maggie May has it all: looks, youth, love...lots of love to offer. Maggie May is housetrained, quiet, loves children, other dogs, not sure about cats. She is a real doll baby. Maggie May was surrendered to us because her owner ended up in the hospital and it is very doubtful that she will be able to properly care for Maggie May when she recovers. This poor baby has been passed around from an aunt, to a friend, to the daughter and then home for one night and then into rescue. All this in only three weeks time. Her world has been turned upside down , but through it all, she is still all wiggles, licks and love. Maggie May will adjust well, she is young and loves everyone. She is not obnoxious or persnickety like a lot of Cockers are known to be, instead she is very gentle and sweet. Maggie May is about the only Cocker that our groomer has see n that does not have any ear problems - which shows good breeding. Poor Maggie May has no clue what is going on with the world she was living in - and is desperately looking for someone that will make it all right again. If you can find it in your heart and home to take Maggie May in - you will never regret it. She will be your best friend, companion and the love of your life. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt Maggie May. She is heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations and not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Maggie May was adopted 2/22/08 by a very elated family in South Lyon, MI. Maggie was just full of hugs and kisses for her new Mom all the way home.

NAME: MAX
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born February 15, 2001
WEIGHT: 88#
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi there, my name is Max. I was originally purchased from a Bouvier breeder in Canada as a young puppy. I was loved by my Mom until she became too ill to take care of me. I was then taken in by a family member that had known and loved me as well. Regretfully he had a cat and I do not do well with cats at all. As much as I was loved by my new master, he did not want to see any harm come to me or his cat and that is the only reason I was surrendered to rescue. I am housetrained, and love attention. I get along fine with older children and other dogs. I love going for car rides and for walks. Can you possibly find room in your heart and home for me? I promise to love you and be your loyal companion. I was just re-examined by a vet and they found out that I have a thyroid problem and will have to take thyroid medicine from now on. This condition is quite common for my breed and the medication is not costly. I do bond very quickly to people that are willing to show me the love t hat I am desperately searching for. You must be genuinely willing and able to give me an adequate amount of time to acclimate into my new surroundings and get used to your schedule. If you aren’t, please don’t get my hopes up - I do not do well with being passed from home to home. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Definitely not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Max was adopted 4/5/08 by a very loving family in Kalkaska MI. They came down for a meet & greet and decided he was definitely the one they wanted to adopt, so they all went home together

NAME: Miley (renamed Lyric)
BREED: Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (PBGV)/Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) mix?
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 18-24 months young
COLOR: Caramel & White
WEIGHT: approx 30#
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Miley. My former owners dropped me off at a gas station and left me. I was picked up by a good samaritan and brought to Second Chance Bouvier Rescue. Don't I just put a big smile on your face when you see my pictures? I am housetrained, crate trained, get along well with other dogs, and even get along with cats. I walk well on a leash. As you can tell, I really like the water. These pictures were taken after I did a few laps in the pond, dried off and was brushed out. As you can see I am loving taking a rest on the chaise by the pond :-) My foster Mom says that I am really a great dog. I am affectionate but not real needy, more on the independent side. Of course, that could be because I wasn't showed a lot of love by my former owners, who after all did dump me and left me to fend for myself. Are you lonely and need someone to comfort you when you're down? Well I am the girl for you. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all my vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. Again, I am cat friendly if your cat is dog friendly.
**UPDATE: Miley was adopted 8/16/08 by a very loving family from Minneapolis, MN

NAME: Moe(renamed Buddy)
BREED: Labrador Retriever
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 3 yro
WEIGHT: 65#
COLOR: Yellow
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Moe. I was found as a stray, possibly dropped off or abandoned. I walk very well on a leash. I get along fine with other dogs. Possibly I was the companion of a male because I am very responsive to men. Some dogs shy away from men but I do well with both sexes. They are not sure if I was kept as an outdoor dog or as a family pet so I may need a refresher course in house-training. I would make a fantastic companion. I just love to play with toys, both squeaky and stuffed. I currently reside at the rescue farm in Dryden, MI and I have a lot of dogs my own size to play with. I was found in a very rural area so possibly I was allowed to roam the property as a watch dog but I am really, really looking forward to becoming a house dog. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. I am definite ly not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Moe was adopted 6/2/08 by a very loving and compassionate family in Sterling Heights, MI.

NAME: Parker
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 5/1/05
WEIGHT: 68#
COLOR: Black brindle, docked tail, natural ears
BIO: Hi there, my name is Parker and I was surrendered by my family in IN. Regretfully, I did not have a very good life before Second Chance came to Indiana and took me in. When I was 7 months old, I was run over by a car and I favor my left rear foot. My leg healed fine, but my foot & toes were severely broken and my middle toe did not heal correctly. When we took him in for x-rays and a heartworm check we received the bad news. Not only was Parker heartworm positive, but we could not treat him until after he had fully recovered from a more important major surgery. We had an ultrasound done because the x-rays showed that he had an enlarged heart. Come to find out, he had PPDH, which is a diaphramatic hernia in the bottom of his heart sac. Part of his spleen and upper intestines had herniated into the sac and was putting extreme pressure on his heart. This was either due to being hit by the car, or from some other traumatic blow that he received. Parker came through the surg ery with flying colors but we had to wait until he had fully recovered to treat him for heartworm. Parker has been successfully treated for heartworm and is now available for adoption. Parker is an absolute love. Everyone that has met him is amazed at how loving he is even after everything he has had to endure. Parker's previous owners were negligent beyond belief. He slept in the garage, and just roamed the unfenced property - obviously that is how he got hit by a car when he was so young. He was never tested for heartworm or given heartworm preventative - which is totally irresponsible on any pet owners part. Parker is not completely housetrained, loves going for walks, gets along fantastic with everyone and everything. Due to the lack of love and attention that he was shown by his previous neglecters, he is not “needy” and does not beg for your attention - but is perfectly willing to accept it - if offered. We know there is the right home out there that would jump at the chance to show Parker what true love really is. He is perfectly content lying next to you on the floor when you sleep, or being able to lounge with you while you watch TV. Parker is UTD on all vaccinations, definitely not cat friendly, and overly interested in livestock. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt him.
**UPDATE: Well today, 8/10/08, was the day that dear Parker has been waiting for. Parker's new Dad drove in from CT to bring his new baby home. Parker was adopted by a very special family in Derby, CT that had previously adopted Buster II from us. They had to say goodbye to Buster and decided they had room in their hearts and home for this very special boy. We knew the right family was out there and we couldn't have asked for a more loving family to have taken Parker in.

NAME: Raven
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres mix
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 1/1/07
WEIGHT: 45#
COLOR: Black, white bib & goatee, natural ears & tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Raven. I was surrendered by a family in TN because I barked too much. I am housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative.
**UPDATE: Luckily I was spoken for before I even made it to the rescue. I was adopted on 2/2/08 by a very loving and caring woman that just recently had to say goodbye to her beloved English Springer Spaniel named Maisey, who was also adopted from Second Chance Bouvier Rescue about seven years ago. It was a match made in heaven. When my new Mom saw my picture, it was love at first sight. I was able to hitch a ride on a transport that was coming from KY to MI by a bunch of very loving and caring transporters (thank you :-) I was picked up in Ann Arbor, MI by SCBR and brought directly to my new Mom in Westland, MI. Here are some pictures of me before I came to MI and with my loving Mom (I am the one with the tail :-) Can you tell how happy we both are? Thank you to everyone that was involved in making my dream come true. I am happy, I am loved and I am home.

NAME: Rocky
BREED: Yorkshire Terrier
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 1/10/2000
COLOR: Black & Tan, docked & cropped
WEIGHT: 7#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Rocky. I was an owner surrender. I am housetrained, crate trained and walk well on a leash. I came from a household that had quite a few other dogs, and my previous owner left us alone and crated an awful lot. I would really like to go to a home where there would be someone there to spend time with me during the day as well as at night. I guess you could say I would like to be an only child where I didn't have to share anyones love and attention. I just want to be loved and cuddled and treasured, and I promise to return all the love and attention you give to me twofold. I love to play with toys, just like a puppy. If you're lonely and need someone to curl up on your lap and watch TV with, I am definitely your guy. I do get along fine with children, but because I am so tiny and breakable it would be best if my new home did not have children under 12 years old. I look and act much younger than I am. Could you please find room in your heart and home for me? I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Rocky was adopted 9/15/08 by very loving and caring family in Westland, MI.

NAME: Rose
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 1-2 yro
WEIGHT: 28#
COLOR: Dark brindle, natural ears & tail
BIO: Hi everyone - my name is Rose. I was surrendered to rescue by a woman that no longer wanted me. I was taken to the shelter and they advised her to contact Bouvier Rescue. Immediately upon surrender it was quite obvious that I had a couple of very large hernias. I was rushed to their vet and it was discovered that not only did I have hernias I was also in heat and was heartworm positive. I have already gone through my first heartworm treatment and will be getting my second one the first week in April. I will have to be quarantined for thirty days before I can be spayed and have the hernias taken care of. I am house-trained, and get along fine with other dogs. I love to play and absolutely love attention. Regretfully I have not been able to play because of the heartworm treatment but am looking forward to many, many hours of play as soon as I am fully recovered. I walk well on a leash and would love to have y our warm arms wrapped around me so I could shower you with my special kisses. I obviously was not well cared for in my prior home and it is very doubtful that I was cuddled or petted very often. Had I been, someone would have noticed my hernias and taken better care of me medically. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Rose was adopted 4/4/08 by a very loving gentleman in Rochester, MI. Because Rose had just had her last heartworm treatment a couple of days earlier, we decided that she should go home with her new Dad and recouperate there. This was a match made in heaven

NAME: Sheba (AKC)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 1/4/08
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked tail, natural ears
WEIGHT: 46#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Sheba. These pictures were taken right after I was bathed and groomed. I was surrendered along with my two siblings by a breeder that could no longer take care of us. I am the smallest.
**UPDATE: Sheba was adopted 10/9/08 by a very loving woman in Southfield, MI.

NAME: Skye (AKC)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 1/4/08
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked tail, natural ears
WEIGHT: 63#
BIO: Hi there, my name is Skye. **UPDATE: Skye was adopted 10/31/08 by a wonderful family in Harrison Twp, MI

NAME: Snickers
BREED: Schnauzer
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 6-7 Yro
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black & silver, docked & cropped
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Snickers. I am housebroken and love to play with toys. I am a quiet gentleman and will sit on command. I am polite, and take treats so gently. I do not have a problem with cats or other dogs. Our theory, because Snickers is a little on the chunky side, is that he was an elderly person's dog. When we rescued him he was a matted mess and very depressed. We think that possibly his owners were sick or went into a nursing home and the family's solution to a dog they didn't want was to put him in a box and slide him into the vets office door and run like the cowards they are. It would have been nice if they would have at least put a piece of paper in the box with his name and other pertinent information. Snickers grooms very well, walks well on a leash and even likes wearing a coat. You can literally take a treat out of his mouth with out any problem. He loves squeeky toys, if y ou throw it he will bring it back so you can throw it again. Or he will shake the toy and when it sails thru the air he will pounce on it again. He loves to just sit and watch you, and of course to be loved. We can't say enough about this boy, he has a fantastic personality and will make a wonderful companion. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Snickers. He is UTD with all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and CAT FRIENDLY.
**UPDATE: Snickers was adopted 1/26/08 by a very loving family in Saginaw, MI. Snickers not only has a new forever family but also has a female Schnauzer the same age for a companion.

NAME: Steffie (renamed K’Leigh)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandes
GENDER: Female (Spayed)
WEIGHT: 43# AGE: 10-12 months young
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi there, my name is Steffie. I was originally purchased by a possible back yard breeder at an auction in MO. The breeder decided to get out of the business and surrendered me to a rescue in MO. I was transported up to Michigan and am now looking for a loving forever home. I am very frightened by everyone and everything. I obviously was not treated very well and was most likely kept in a crate for my whole life. I am desperately looking for someone that is willing to be kind and loving and show me just how good life can be when someone really cares about me. I am starting to come around at the rescue farm and do love to run and play. I am UTD on all vaccinations, crate trained and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Steffie was adopted 11/8/09 by a very loving and understanding family in Clinton Twp, MI.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of Steffie (renamed K’Leigh). What a difference a lot of love and the right care can make. Here is a picture of K’Leigh with her adopted sister Hammie (renamed C.J. adopted 2010)

NAME: Tripper (renamed) Tipper
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres / Airedale mix
GENDER: Male (neutered) AGE: Born 6/5/04
WEIGHT: Approx 60#
COLOR: Black (pepper & salt) natural ears and tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Tripper. My Dad was a Bouvier and my Mom was and Airedale, so I guess that makes me a Bouvidale? I was picked up as a stray, along with my brother Buddy. I am housetrained and neat and clean. I get along grat with other dogs, love children and adults, love car rides and going for walks. I am a really good boy and I just know that you will fall in love with me as soon as you meet me. I was originally adopted by a family in IL that had young children. I was returned to rescue, because they didn't have time for me. I am a real "people pleaser" and would give anything to be your loving and faithful companion. It was decided that I have separation anxiety and that I need a family that is willing to give me lots of love and attention - preferrably a "stay at home Mom". I was adopted a second time, and they said they understood about my separation anxiety. Then my second Dad was hospitalized and again I was crated and left all alone. I am a really good boy, as long as I am not left alone for an extended amount of time. I desperately need some direction and someone that is willing to put as much time into me as I am willing to give in return with my love and affection. They say that the third time is a charm - I have my paws crossed that they are right. If you are not willing or able to commit to making me feel loved and secure - please don't inquire. Every time I am returned I feel even more rejected than I did in the first place. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Tripper (Tipper) was adopted 12/16/08 by a very compassionate woman in Mt Clemens, MI. that has adopted four other dogs from our rescue already. She felt so bad that Tripper has been looking for a home for so long and decided to make him part of her family. Tripper not only has a very special "new" forever Mom, but will be joining two other adoptees: Natasha & Buster (formerly Mr. Bill).

NAME: Tucker
BREED: German Shepherd/Labrador Retriever mix
GENDER: Male (intact)
COLOR: Black, tan & white
AGE: 9 weeks old (born 7/4/08)
WEIGHT: #
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Tucker. I was saved by an animal lover along with three of my siblings at a flea market. My other three siblings have already found a home so I am the only one left now. I am a real cuddler and I love to tuck my little body into your loving arms or warm comfortable lap - that is how I got my name. I have my first puppy vaccinations and have been wormed. Because I am so young a neuter contract will have to be signed and returned to the rescue and my new Mom & Dad will be reimbursed for the neuter deposit. I love to romp and play, I was having a ball in the garden playing "king of the mountain (or rock)". I a just as cute as a bug, very inquisitive and willing to learn whatever you want to teach me. I get along great with other dogs and cats and I would be more than happy to accept any attention that might come my way. I am not completely housetrained yet, but we are working on that now. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Tucker was adopted 9/27/08 by a very loving family in Redford, MI that just recently lost their other two beloved companions within days of each other.

NAME: Zeus

COLOR: Dark Gray Brindle, docked & cropped
WEIGHT: 82#
AGE: born 9/1/04
BIO: Hi there, my name is Zeus. I was surrendered to the Westland Humane Society by my owner because I don't like being left alone all the time (at least that was the reason given). I am a gorgeous specimen of a Bouvier, I am housetrained and know some basic commands. I am such a lover, I love to cuddle, play, run, give kisses. The people at the Humane Society just loved me to pieces and hated to see me go. I am very socialized and not hesitant to meet new people. I love people, older children, other dogs. I am UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative.
