ADOPTED 2008

NAME: Bandit
BREED: Bassett Hound (AKC)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 8/18/07
WEIGHT: 22#
COLOR: Tri-color (black, brown, white)
BIO: Hi, my name is Bandit. My former owners purchased me from a breeder about five weeks ago. They really thought they wanted a Bassett puppy, but found they didn't really have the time or patience to do the "puppy thing". I am in the process of being housetrained. I am crate trained. I was raised with three cats and get along great with them. I get along great with just about everyone and everything, dogs, children, adults. I have one blue eye and one brown eye. I am UTD on all vaccinations. Please keep in mind that I am just a baby and will need YOU to teach me what you expect of me. I will probably get to be about 65-70# when full grown. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am "ALL EARS" waiting to hear that my forever family is coming to take me home. I am being fostered in Almont, MI. Also I AM cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Bandit was adopted 1/29/08 by a fabulous family in St. Clair Shores, MI. Bandit not only has a new loving Mom & Dad, but also three children and a female Basset Hound named, Petunia for companionship. It was love at first sight for Bandit as well as his new forever family.

NAME: COFFIE
BREED: Shih Tzu
GENDER: Male (neutered)
COLOR: Black, Silver, White Brindle
AGE: 8 years young
WEIGHT: #
BIO: This is Coffie. He is a very young 8yro Shih Tzu. Coffie is housebroken and an all around excellent dog. He prefers to be an only dog because he is used to getting all the attention. Coffie is being surrendered by his elderly owners due to their health problems. They can't play and walk him as much as he likes and they just don't feel that he should have to grow old prematurely just because they are. Coffie loves children, loves to play with his toys and is very active for his age. Our groomer has known and groomed him since he was a puppy and if she didn't know for a fact how old he is she would guess his age at 3-4 years old. Coffie is a great dog looking for a perfect home. Coffie tollerates other dogs but really prefers to be an only dog. He likes to play the "tough guy" routine in front of his owner and we would be afraid that the other dog would not understand his actions and someone mi ght get hurt. Coffie is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, no health issues that the vet knows of. He has always been a very healthy dog. Coffie is being fostered in Almont, MI by our groomer. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Coffie. He is not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Coffie has been adopted by a family member of her owner's.

NAME: Daunte's Lucky Starr (AKC)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 1/22/04
WEIGHT: 85#
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked, natural ears
BIO: Hi there, my name is Daunte's Lucky Starr, but you can call me Lucky. I was surrendered by my owner/breeder to a shelter in Indiana along with my mother, Starr. We were surrendered because our owner/breeder was too ill to take care of us. When SCBR came to get us, I was so relieved. I was a filthy, smelly, matted mess that had been kept outdoors most of my life with my Mom. I am a little shy when I first meet new people, but then I turn into a real marshmallow. I gave my groomer a real run for her money when she tried to groom me because all I wanted to do was roll over for belly rubs and snuggle. The first picture is my "before hairdo" the other pictures are my "after hairdo". Quite a difference, huh? I got an A+ for temperament and personality from my groomer as well as everyone at the vet clinic when I went in to be spayed. I do get along fine with other dogs and love people. I am heartworm negative and UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secur e yard in order to adopt me. I am definitely not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Lucky was adopted 4/9/08 by a wonderful and loving family in Beverly Hills, MI. This family adopted Kuma in 2000 and Chewy (renamed Maggie) in 2005. Regretfully they just had to say goodbye to Maggie so Kuma and the rest of the family were looking for another companion - and Lucky was the "chosen" one.

NAME: Hunter
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2-5 yro
WEIGHT: 100#
COLOR: Black, cropped ears, docked tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Hunter and I was an owner surrender to a shelter because I killed a cat. My previous owner knew that I was definitely not cat friendly and that I was very high prey drive - but disregarded the knowledge and put me in a position that was inevitable. Because of my high prey drive I would not be good with small dogs or livestock. Other than that, I am a very good boy. I can be somewhat stubborn at times - but I am a Bouvier - what can you expect. I get along very well with females close to my own size and would do well if adopted to a home with another dog for companionship. I definitely need a Bouvier saavy owner that is smarter than I think I am. I walk fairly well on leash and I am housetrained. I am UTD on all shots and heartworm negative. I am microchipped. Because I am a big boy, I would be best suited in a family without small children. You would need a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Hunter was adopted 2/23/08 by a very caring and understanding Bouvier person in Westlake, OH. Hunter also has a Bouvier brother named Addison who was also adopted from us in 2006.

NAME: Kelli
BREED: Blue-tick Coonhound (mix?)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 1.5 yro
WEIGHT: 62#
COLOR: Blue/black & white with blue ticking
BIO: Hello there, my name is Kelli. My former owner, who is a veteran, and his family has lost our home due to foreclosure. I lived harmoniously with three children and two other dogs. I am 62# of love and muscle and am a fairly strong dog. I am very people focused and good with children. I need an experienced family that can continue my obedience training. I am not good with cats, but I am good with male dogs or females that are larger than I am. I would be best suited as either an only dog or with a large male dog. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Kelli was adopted by her foster family.

NAME: Kip renamed (Remmi)
BREED: Labrador Retriever (black)
GENDER: Male (too young to neuter yet)
AGE: Born 12/1/07 (approx)
WEIGHT: 4-5#
COLOR: Black
BIO: Hi there, my name is Kip. I was abandoned in a box by some heartless person. I am approximately 6 weeks young (according to the vet) and am desperately looking for a loving family that is interested in making room in their heart and home for me. I still want to suckle, so I haven’t been away from my Mom for very long. Most likely I was taken home by a young person and it was decided by their parents that I could not stay. So rather than giving me to someone that would care, I was left to fend for myself in the rain and cold. Thankfully someone was kind enough to pick me up and turn me into the rescue - I would not have made it on my own for very long. I have been wormed and have had my first puppy shots. Because I am so young, I cannot be neutered for a couple of months. I am just a little snuggle-bug and with a lot of love and care will make anyone a wonderful companion. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Because I am so young I would probably get along great with a cat.
**UPDATE: Kip was adopted 1/26/08 by a very loving family in Clarkston, MI. Kip not only has a new forever family but also has a young Chocolate Lab for a companion.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of Remmi (Kip) with his new brother Rockee - doing what he loves to do best - snuggle and sleep.

NAME: Luna
BREED: German Shepherd mix
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 4 yro
WEIGHT: approx 80#
COLOR: Black, tan & white
BIO: This is lovely Luna. She is an owner surrender due to a medical situation in her family. They are devastated having to give her up and are hopeing to find a home where Luna will be loved and cherished as she has been with them. She has beautiful tan markings on her very shiney black coat. She is totally housetrained and has never had an accident in the house. Luna has never chewed or destroyed anything and is crate trained if she has to be left alone. Luna is an indoor dog, but loves going for walks and being outside to play and go potty. She loves to play fetch and on command, will bring the item back and drop it at your feet. She is used to being boarded when her owners went on vacation and does very well with other dogs and people. Luna is a very gentle, loving dog that would do well with a family or someone who is looking for a true companion. She will basically be your shadow. She is ha ppiest at her owners feet or in the same room with them. Her favorite place is in front of the fireplace or sun bathing. She makes a great foot stool and will warm your feet :-) Luna is accustomed to being left alone for long periods of time. She is a good watch dog, has a very keen sense of hearing and only barks when someone rings the door bell or when she hears a noise she will stand at attention. She loves to run and play in a fenced yard. Luna is very obedient and follows many verbal and hand commands, such as: come, sit, stay, wait, lay, go, leave-it, high five, go get it, bring it here, go get your toy, drop it and give. One of her favorite past times is going to the doggy spa to have her nails done and is used to being bathed at home in warm weather as well as at the doggy groomer. She loves the water and loves to play with the hose. Her owners love her dearly and would like to find a home for their very special Lu na. She is UTD on all vaccinations and is heartworm negative. She has not yet been tested with cats. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt Luna.
**UPDATE: Luna was adopted 2/11/08 by a very loving couple from Novi, MI.

NAME: Maggie May
BREED: Cocker Spaniel
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 10/1/03
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black
BIO: This is Maggie May. She is a 4.5yro Cocker Spaniel. Maggie May has it all: looks, youth, love...lots of love to offer. Maggie May is housetrained, quiet, loves children, other dogs, not sure about cats. She is a real doll baby. Maggie May was surrendered to us because her owner ended up in the hospital and it is very doubtful that she will be able to properly care for Maggie May when she recovers. This poor baby has been passed around from an aunt, to a friend, to the daughter and then home for one night and then into rescue. All this in only three weeks time. Her world has been turned upside down , but through it all, she is still all wiggles, licks and love. Maggie May will adjust well, she is young and loves everyone. She is not obnoxious or persnickety like a lot of Cockers are known to be, instead she is very gentle and sweet. Maggie May is about the only Cocker that our groomer has see n that does not have any ear problems - which shows good breeding. Poor Maggie May has no clue what is going on with the world she was living in - and is desperately looking for someone that will make it all right again. If you can find it in your heart and home to take Maggie May in - you will never regret it. She will be your best friend, companion and the love of your life. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt Maggie May. She is heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations and not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Maggie May was adopted 2/22/08 by a very elated family in South Lyon, MI. Maggie was just full of hugs and kisses for her new Mom all the way home.

NAME: MAX
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born February 15, 2001
WEIGHT: 88#
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi there, my name is Max. I was originally purchased from a Bouvier breeder in Canada as a young puppy. I was loved by my Mom until she became too ill to take care of me. I was then taken in by a family member that had known and loved me as well. Regretfully he had a cat and I do not do well with cats at all. As much as I was loved by my new master, he did not want to see any harm come to me or his cat and that is the only reason I was surrendered to rescue. I am housetrained, and love attention. I get along fine with older children and other dogs. I love going for car rides and for walks. Can you possibly find room in your heart and home for me? I promise to love you and be your loyal companion. I was just re-examined by a vet and they found out that I have a thyroid problem and will have to take thyroid medicine from now on. This condition is quite common for my breed and the medication is not costly. I do bond very quickly to people that are willing to show me the love t hat I am desperately searching for. You must be genuinely willing and able to give me an adequate amount of time to acclimate into my new surroundings and get used to your schedule. If you aren’t, please don’t get my hopes up - I do not do well with being passed from home to home. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Definitely not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Max was adopted 4/5/08 by a very loving family in Kalkaska MI. They came down for a meet & greet and decided he was definitely the one they wanted to adopt, so they all went home together

NAME: Raven
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres mix
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 1/1/07
WEIGHT: 45#
COLOR: Black, white bib & goatee, natural ears & tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Raven. I was surrendered by a family in TN because I barked too much. I am housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative.
**UPDATE: Luckily I was spoken for before I even made it to the rescue. I was adopted on 2/2/08 by a very loving and caring woman that just recently had to say goodbye to her beloved English Springer Spaniel named Maisey, who was also adopted from Second Chance Bouvier Rescue about seven years ago. It was a match made in heaven. When my new Mom saw my picture, it was love at first sight. I was able to hitch a ride on a transport that was coming from KY to MI by a bunch of very loving and caring transporters (thank you :-) I was picked up in Ann Arbor, MI by SCBR and brought directly to my new Mom in Westland, MI. Here are some pictures of me before I came to MI and with my loving Mom (I am the one with the tail :-) Can you tell how happy we both are? Thank you to everyone that was involved in making my dream come true. I am happy, I am loved and I am home.

NAME: Rose
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 1-2 yro
WEIGHT: 28#
COLOR: Dark brindle, natural ears & tail
BIO: Hi everyone - my name is Rose. I was surrendered to rescue by a woman that no longer wanted me. I was taken to the shelter and they advised her to contact Bouvier Rescue. Immediately upon surrender it was quite obvious that I had a couple of very large hernias. I was rushed to their vet and it was discovered that not only did I have hernias I was also in heat and was heartworm positive. I have already gone through my first heartworm treatment and will be getting my second one the first week in April. I will have to be quarantined for thirty days before I can be spayed and have the hernias taken care of. I am house-trained, and get along fine with other dogs. I love to play and absolutely love attention. Regretfully I have not been able to play because of the heartworm treatment but am looking forward to many, many hours of play as soon as I am fully recovered. I walk well on a leash and would love to have y our warm arms wrapped around me so I could shower you with my special kisses. I obviously was not well cared for in my prior home and it is very doubtful that I was cuddled or petted very often. Had I been, someone would have noticed my hernias and taken better care of me medically. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Rose was adopted 4/4/08 by a very loving gentleman in Rochester, MI. Because Rose had just had her last heartworm treatment a couple of days earlier, we decided that she should go home with her new Dad and recouperate there. This was a match made in heaven

NAME: Snickers
BREED: Schnauzer
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 6-7 Yro
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black & silver, docked & cropped
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Snickers. I am housebroken and love to play with toys. I am a quiet gentleman and will sit on command. I am polite, and take treats so gently. I do not have a problem with cats or other dogs. Our theory, because Snickers is a little on the chunky side, is that he was an elderly person's dog. When we rescued him he was a matted mess and very depressed. We think that possibly his owners were sick or went into a nursing home and the family's solution to a dog they didn't want was to put him in a box and slide him into the vets office door and run like the cowards they are. It would have been nice if they would have at least put a piece of paper in the box with his name and other pertinent information. Snickers grooms very well, walks well on a leash and even likes wearing a coat. You can literally take a treat out of his mouth with out any problem. He loves squeeky toys, if y ou throw it he will bring it back so you can throw it again. Or he will shake the toy and when it sails thru the air he will pounce on it again. He loves to just sit and watch you, and of course to be loved. We can't say enough about this boy, he has a fantastic personality and will make a wonderful companion. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt Snickers. He is UTD with all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and CAT FRIENDLY.
**UPDATE: Snickers was adopted 1/26/08 by a very loving family in Saginaw, MI. Snickers not only has a new forever family but also has a female Schnauzer the same age for a companion.
