ADOPTED 2007

NAME: Bella
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 7-8 years young
WEIGHT: 100#
COLOR: Black brindle, docked tail, cropped ears
BIO: My name is Bella. I was rescued from the Westland Humane Society. On my evaluation they stated that: 1) I was friendly, made appropriate social contact within 60 seconds. 2) I am courteous of your space, tail wags, am friendly. 3) I move toward your hand to get more petting and I relax. 4) I didn't mind them checking my teeth. 5) I was very relaxed with a safe hug. 6) For play response & excitement I was very relaxed and did not excite easily. 7) No food aggression. I wag my tail, look at the handler, or just continue wagging my tail and eating at the same pace. 8) Guarding Objects: I settle down close to the handler to chew, wag my tail, may or may not drop the rawhide to socialize. 9) Response to shelter environment (noises & visitors) in kennel: I am at the front of the cage waiting to greet everyone. 10) Dog reactivity: I notice the other dogs, but could really care less. All in all I passed their personality assessment with flying colors, scoring the highest on all categories. I am a very nice and tolerant girl, and would like nothing more than to be sitting next to you when you read the newspaper or drink your morning coffee. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Bella was adopted 9/15/07 by a very compassionate and loving woman in Sauk Village, IL. She had just lost her previous Bouvier Belle and couldn't stand the thought of not having a companion Bouvier to love. She adopted Bella, knowing that she wouldn't have too many years to enjoy her, but wanting to make what time she had left never wanting for love or attention. She also adopted Sherry with the hopes of having her for a while longer.

NAME: Betty Lou (renamed Phoebe)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/Doberman Pinscher
GENDER: Female (must be spayed)
AGE: Born March 2007
WEIGHT: 18#
COLOR: Brindle, natural ears, docked tail
BIO: Well hi there, my name is Betty Lou. I was rescued from the Genesee Cty Animal Control. My Mom was a Bouvier and my Dad was a Doberman Pinscher - which must make me a Bouverman. I am just as cute as a bug and the most loveable little girl you could ever want to meet. Everyone at the shelter was madly in love with me and when they found out I was going to be rescued they all started singing the song "Betty Lou is getting out tonight" by Bob Segar. I was very neat and clean in my cage and had no accidents so I am probably housetrained. I get along great with everyone and everything. I am very loving and kissable - not a mean bone in my little lanky body. I want nothing more than to lay with my head on your lap. I am not a wild and crazy puppy, I am very reserved but I do love to play when I am outside. I am very smart and willing to learn. You really can't tell from the pictures but I have the coarse hair of a Bouvier and am beginning to get some chin wiskers. I am SOOOO much prettier in person - these pictures just don't do me any justice. Can't you please find it in your heart to bring me home with you - I promise you will not regret it. I have had my first puppy shots and will have to be spayed as soon as I am old enough. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Because I am so young - I will probably get along well with cats - as long as they are dog friendly.
**UPDATE: Betty Lou was adopted 7/8/07 by a very loving family in Monroe, MI. Betty Lou not only has a new forever family but also has a BIG brother named Apollo. The meet & greet went fantastic and Betty Lou is probably home right now snuggled up on someones lap.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here are some new pictures of Phoebe (formerly Betty Lou), with her BIG brother Apollo. Don't they make a cute couple?

NAME: Bijou
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Born 12/14/97
WEIGHT: 72#
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped
BIO: Hi everyone, my name is Bijou. Because my family moved to Hawaii and couldn't take me with them, they had to make the heartwrenching decision to surrender me to a rescue. I am now looking for a new forever home. I am a good boy, housetrained, get along great with people and other dogs. I love going on walks and car rides. Please don't let my age sway your decision, I am a very young acting 8 3/4 year boy. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations, not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Bijou was adopted 3/14/07 by a very special family in Monticello, FL. This special family finds it in their hearts and home to take in the "senior citizens" that everyone else overlooks. They are kind and loving people that really make a difference to the ones that no one else wants to love for fear of losing them in a couple of years.

NAME: Bishop (renamed Bo)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: born 08/19/05
WEIGHT: 75#
COLOR: Black, natural ears, docked tail
RESCUED:
BIO: Hi, my name is Bishop. I was surrendered to rescue by my very loving Mom. It was the hardest decision she has ever had to make. She had lost her job, and had to move to a condo that didn't have a fenced area for me to run. I had my own room, TV, etc and my Mom took me for all kinds of walks and to the dog parks - but it just wasn't the same. I wanted my backyard to run in and I was very depressed. As much as it broke my Mom's heart she wanted what was best for me - so she tearfully surrendered me hopeing that I would find a family that would love me even half as much as she did and always will. I am housetrained and walk well on a leash. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative.
**UPDATE:Bishop was adopted 3/4/07 by a wonderful family in Jackson, MI. It was love at first sight.

NAME: Buddy
BREED: Bouvier mix
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: 8 yro
WEIGHT: approx 70#
COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears & tail
BIO: Hello there, my name is Buddy. I lost my Dad in a very tragic accident and my brother and I were taken in by Second Chance Bouvier Rescue. We were originally taken in with the hope and understanding that a family member would step up to the plate and bring us home - but no one did. My brother was already adopted - but I haven't been as lucky yet. I am a really good boy, housetrained and just full of love to give to my new family. If you have ever lost anyone that you truly loved - you know what I am going through. I not only lost my Dad, my home, but also my brother - and now I have no one. If you have a free hand that isn't doing anything, I have a nice warm head and back that I would gladly volunteer to let you scratch. I do get along with other dogs and adults, I really haven't been around too many children. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Buddy's prayers were finally answered on 4/22/07 when he was adopted by a very loving family in Dearborn, MI. Buddy's new family had previously rescued two Bouviers from Illinois, named Romeo & Juliet. Regretfully Romeo went to the Rainbow Bridge leaving Juliet and her family completely devastated. They looked on the website and thought that Buddy looked like needed a loving home and were willing to offer it to him. Not enough people are willing to offer a loving home to an adult dog fearing they will lose them too soon. This wonderful family wanted to make a difference and give Buddy the love and family that he was tragically denied.

NAME: Carly
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 5 yro
WEIGHT: Approx 65#
COLOR: Black & Silver Brindle, docked tail, cropped ears
BIO: Hi, my name is Carly, I was listed on PetFinder as a stray in Howell, MI. Quite a few people from all over the U.S. & Canada were concerned about me and notified Second Chance Bouvier Rescue hopeing they would be able to save me. Well the day I was available at the shelter, Second Chance was waiting in the parking lot a half hour early to make sure they would be the first ones there to save me. Boy am I glad because I was at a high-kill shelter and there is a Class "B" Dealer within a couple miles of where I was at. For those that don't know what that is - it is a person that purchases animals from high-kill shelters and sells them by the pound for research. So, for everyone that was concerned about me - thank you. I was spayed on Valentines Day (I would have preferred getting a card and a biscuit :-). I am a very friendly girl, I just love giving kisses and being loved. My little stub of a tail just wags constantly. I am housetrained and get along well with other dogs. I am very mild mannered and aim to please. I would really appreciate it if you could find it in your heart to give me a loving home. I am UTD on all vaccinations, microchipped and heartworm negative. Probably not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard to adopt me.
UPDATE: Carly was adopted 3/3/07. Her new Dad & brother, Kneko, drove up from Ft Wayne, IN for the meet & greet. Carly sold herself. She will be going to a very loving and Bouv saavy home which she certainly deserves.

NAME: Casey
BREED: Saint Bernard
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4-5 yro
WEIGHT: Approx 150#+
COLOR: Tri-Color
BIO: Hi there, my name is Casey. I am a real "hunka hunka burning love". These pictures were just taken the day I was groomed - am I gorgeous or what? I am well mannered, housetrained, get along great with other dogs, and absolutely adore people. I will not do well on a farm with livestock, I LOVE to chase livestock. I was originally sprung from the shelter by another rescue that didn't have the space to accommodate me while I was awaiting adoption. As much as I love it at SCBR's rescue farm, it just isn't the same as having my own home and my own family to wrap their arms around me and for me to love. I am a very big boy and will make someone a very loving companion. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. I may be cat friendly, but we don't know for sure.
**UPDATE: Casey was adopted 7/8/07 by a fantastic woman in Chesterfield, MI. Caseu's new Mom had two flat tires enroute to see Casey, so she called a friend to come pick her up and they arrived safe and sound.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here are the pictures of Casey with his new Mom. Everyone loves him, especially his Mom. All the kids want to pet him and he is just so good with everyone.

NAME: Charlie
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres (AKC)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 6/24/06
WEIGHT: 55-60#
COLOR: Black, natural ears, docked tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Charlie. I was surrendered by my Mom because she had to move and was unable to take me with her. I am housetrained, and a very good boy. I am still a little shy and confused because of my relocation but will warm up to you in a short amount of time. I get along great with other animals and children. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Charlie was adopted 8/24/07 by a very loving family in Saratoga Springs, NY. They had adopted one of our previous Bouviers, Merlin, who beat the odds twice with cancer - but finally had to give up his gallant fight.

NAME: Colleen
BREED: Collie (rough coated)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 4-5 yro
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Sable, Gray & White
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Colleen. I was found running stray by a very caring woman that was kind enough to take me in. She checked all the ads, put up flyers, but no one ever came forward to claim me. The reason my hair is so short is because I was such an absolute matted mess and was full of fleas when I was found. My groomer worked on me for hours trying to comb me out and finally decided the most humane thing to do would be to shave me down. And I just love my new "do". I am a typical Collie, I just want to be petted and loved. I am very quiet, not a jumper - just an all around good girl. I am very good with other dogs, people, cats, etc. I am also very gentle. The vet felt I was between 4 & 5 years young. I love playing with other dogs, I am housetrained, am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. I will be on flea preventative when I go to my new home. I am such a good girl that the kind woman that found me has offered to foster me until my new forever home has been found. Hopefully that won't be too long, because I would really like to have a new family of my own to love me as much as I would love them in return. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. She IS CAT FRIENDLY!!!!
Note **Here is a picture before Colleen was shaved just to give you an idea of how gorgeous she will look when her hair grows out.
**UPDATE: Colleen was adopted 9/15/07 by a very loving woman in Detroit, MI. Colleen not only has a new Mom but a new sister, an 11.5yro Beagle

NAME: Daisy
BREED: Rottweiler
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born May 2003
WEIGHT: Approx 75#
COLOR: Black & brown, docked tail, natural ears
BIO: Hello there, my name is Daisy. I am a very nice and mild mannered girl that is good with older children, other dogs, and I am just an all around friendly girl. Unfortunately my former owners decided I needed a new home because I had gotten out a few times on them and they were afraid I would get hit by a car. They said they were heartbroken about having to give me up and were really hoping that I could find a good home where I can get all kinds of love and attention. At night when my caretakers sit down to relax and watch TV I sit right next to them with my head in their laps and fall sound asleep. I was surrendered to the Cheboygan County Humane Society in Cheboygan, MI and they thought I was an absolute love. That is why when Second Chance Bouvier Rescue came up to pick up a Bouvier the shelter asked if they would transport me to a Southeastern Rottweiler Rescue that had agreed to take me in, but didn't have any way of getting me. Well, I have been waiting at Second Chance for the Rescue to make arrangements to come and get me to no avail. So Second Chance decided that they would put me up as one of their "wannabees". I am really looking forward to a home of my own and some nice warm arms to wrap around my neck. I promise you will not be sorry if you adopt me. I am heartworm negative, UTD on all vaccinations and not cat friendly You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me.
UPDATE: Daisy's dream came true! On 02/25/07 She was adopted by a loving & caring family in Checterfield, MI
**MOST RECENT UPDATE: The top picture is when I first came into rescue. The middle picture is me lounging out on the deck. The bottom picture is of me with my "little" brother Nicholas (renamed Andy, see below). My Dad lovingly calls me his "darlin". I could not be happier than I have been since these wonderful people adopted me. I get along fantastic with my two little Westie brothers, Andy & Joey

NAME: Frankie (renamed Chester)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Born 6/6/02
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black, docked tail, cropped ears
BIO: Hi, my name is Frankie. I was rescued from the Franklin County Animal Shelter in Columbus, OH. I was one matted mess and stunk to high-heaven when SCBR came to save me. I made a quick trip to the groomer and from there went straight to the vet to be neutered. These are my BEFORE pictures, there will be better pictures to follow. Because my owner didn't come looking for me, I was scheduled to be euthanized at 7pm (about 6 hours after SCBR was notified of my situation. After a bunch of frantic phone calls to the shelter to make sure I wouldn't be put to sleep, my saviour, Bill from Michigan, jumped in the van and high-tailed it to Columbus, OH to save me. What a relief!!! I thought he would never get here - but he did, will no time to spare. I am a very happy boy and just want to be loved. I know most commands: sit, stay, down, etc. I walk very well on a leash. I would make the perfect, loving companion for an adult family. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Frankie was adopted 6/10/07 by a very loving woman in Grosse Pointe, MI. She originally came out to look at one of our other Bouviers and fell in love with Frankie immediately.

NAME: Jake (renamed Fred)
BREED: Bouvier / Terrier mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Approx 2yro
WEIGHT: 40-45#
COLOR: Black, natural ears & tail
RESCUED: Antrim County Animal Control - owner surrender
BIO: Hi there, my name is Jake. I was rescued from the Antrim County Animal Control as an owner surrender. My former family never socialized me or showed me any attention. I was kept in the basement 24/7 because they didn't want me to mess or dig in the back yard. I would turn myself inside out for the opportunity to receive a friendly word or a loving pat on the head. I am very playful and loving and get along great with children, adults and other dogs. These pictures were taken when I was groomed on 6/21/07. My groomer said that I am a super dog and highly trainable. I am supposed to be housetrained, but I may need a refresher course. As much as I have been having the time of my life at the rescue farm, enjoying the freedom, not having to rely on four cement walls and a cement floor as my only companion, I would really love to have a family of my own that would love me and bring out all my best assets. I will make someone a very loyal and loving companion. If you have a spare tennis ball, or squeaky toy - I would love to be there when you throw it :-) No one can figure out why I haven't been adopted already. Most likely because the previous pictures were not too complimentary. After all, they were taken in the winter when it was below zero and I didn't have too happy of an expression on my face. Neither would you if you had to put your warm little butt in the snow to get your picture taken :-( I am a medium size companion dog, and I am just looking for someone to call my own. I never had a REAL family of my own - but I am willing to give you a try if you are willing to give me one. I am UTD on all vaccinations, not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Well, 8/12/07 was Jake's lucky day. His new forever family drove up from Columbus, OH with their Bouvier and Scottie for the meet & greet and Jake got to finally go home. After only two days he is eating well, sleeps thru the night and getting a refresher course on housebreaking. Jake beat all the odds and was finally rewarded with a loving, caring and very understanding family.

NAME: Joe
BREED: Dachshund
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 1.5 yro.
WEIGHT: 15#
COLOR: Brown brindle
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Joe. I am completely housetrained. I get along great with other dogs, people and children. I'm not sure how I would be with cats, I love to chase them, but not sure what I'd do if I caught one. I answer to my name, and will come when called. I really love to just sit in your lap and be loved. I would probably be good for a younger family that can give me a lot of play time and exercise. I was given up due to a move and my family couldn't take me with them. I am current on all vaccinations, heartworm & fecal negative. Because I was cryptorchid my stitches will not be coming out until 8/28 but other than that I am ready to go to my new forever home. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Joe was adopted 8/31/07 by a fantastic family in Westland, MI. Joe has two Doxie sisters, one Doxie brother and a BIG brother that is a Great Dane. We couldn't have found Joe a better family if we wanted to.

NAME: Julie (renamed Macey)
BREED: Labrador Retriever
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 2-3 yro
WEIGHT: 60#

BIO: Hi, my name is Julie. I was rescued from the Bloomfield Hills Animal Control, listed as a stray. I am housetrained and walk fairly well on a leash. I get along great with people, children and other dogs. I am really a very good girl and would greatly appreciate your finding room in your home and heart for me. I am very docile and would most likely get along with cats, supervised of course. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative, is cat friendly

WEIGHT:
COLOR: Tri-Colored
RESCUED: Family found her in their garage looking for food and shelter. Fell in love with her but were unable to keep due to work schedule and they have two large Yellow Labs. Maggie was adopted out once but came back because she wanted to dominate the families female Red Bone.
BIO: Maggie is housetrained. Very good natured with people and children. Very loving and attentive. Rides well in a car. Would be best suited with a male dog or as an only child. Completely fenced and secure yard required. UTD on all vaccination. Not cat friendly.

NAME: Marvin (renamed Quincy)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 1/10/06
WEIGHT: 55#
COLOR: Black, docked tail, natural ears
BIO: Hi there, my name is Marvin. I was originally adopted from a shelter in Missouri and formerly called Snoopis - but was renamed Marvin. My former adopter only had me for a couple of months. I am housetrained, and had the run of the house during the day. I am not food aggressive, nor am I toy aggressive. I do get along with other dogs once we have been properly introduced. I am good with young adults as long as they know how to properly play with me. I am very aware of strangers. It would be a good idea if my new parents took all of us to obedience school. Because of my age I still have puppyish behaviors and I love to do the "Bouvier Bounce". You must have a completely fenced and secure yard. I am UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Marvin was adopted 4/15/07 by a very loving woman in Toledo, OH. She had just lost her beloved Juneau that was adopted from us about 5 years ago.

NAME: Nana Belle
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres (UKC)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 4/27/05
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black brindle, docked & cropped
BIO: Nana Belle was surrendered by a family in WI. She was purchased as a young puppy from a breeder in MI. She is very loving, gentle and protective over her family. She was exceptionally good with the previous owners two young boys, but does like to frolic a little hard with children. She loves going for rides and for walks and does very well on leash. Nana Belle loves to chase frogs and play in the pond. Her former owners did not have time to properly socialize her, which led to her being very guarded and shy of strangers. Nana Belle would be best suited in a family with no young children or cats. Nana Belle is a very loving, loyal, beautiful dog and will make the right owner a wonderful companion. UTD on all vaccinations. Not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt her.
**UPDATE: Nana Belle was adopted 12/20/07 by a phenomenal family in Menasha, WI. She not only has a new loving family, but two Bouvier brothers, Bear & Fletcher. It was a long drive for them to come and get Nana Belle - but she is just precious and will prove well worth the trip.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of me and my new "sister" happily awaiting Santa's arrival. Nana Belle is getting along great with her other two rescue brothers, Fletcher & Bear. They have all bonded very well and are now playing and sleeping together.

NAME: Nelson (renamed Zorro)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2-3 yro
WEIGHT: 55-60#
COLOR: Black, cropped ears, docked tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Nelson. I was found running stray by a shelter in OH. I am housetrained, know basic commands and am a very good boy. I warm up very quickly to everyone, I walk well on leash and ride well in a car. I get along great with other animals and children. I want nothing more than to be by your side for love and attention. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Nelson was adopted 8/5/07 by a very loving family in Stickney, IL. He not only has a new forever Mom & Dad but two young children to keep him busy.

NAME: Nicholas (renamed Andy)
BREED: West Highland White Terrer
GENDER: Male (neutered).
AGE: Approx 1 yro
WEIGHT: 8#
COLOR: White, erect ears, natural tail
BIO: Hi, my name is Nicholas, and I was originally found wandering the streets in the bitter cold and snow. From the way I act and the way my coat looked when I was rescued - I had been kept crated for quite a while prior to either being dumped or my "great escape". I am a very affectionate little boy, I love being held and cuddled with and could probably live in your arms or laying in your lap. When you put me down I am like the "energizer bunny" I just keep going and going. I love to explore and I love to play. I would probably get along great with other small or medium breed dogs, but because of my size, I don't think I would do well with a large breed dog. If you are looking for a "couch potato" I am not your man, but if you are looking for love, you came to the right place. I am UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. I am most likely cat friendly as long as the cat likes to play.
UPDATE: Nicholas was adopted on 02/28/07 by a loving & caring family in Checterfield, MI
**MOST RECENT UPDATE: The top picture is when I first came into rescue. The middle picture is of me just lounging around. The last picture is of me with my "brother" Joey. I was adopted along with Daisy (Rottweiler above). I am having the time of my life and couldn't be happier. My new Mom & Dad have nicknamed me "the class clown" because of my surprising antics. On day I was walking with my BIG sister Daisy and my brother Joey. Daisy was trotting along, in the lead as usual, and I was a couple of strides behind her. I took two quick little jumps forward then sprang up on her back. Daisy just kept jogging along and I "rode" her like a circus pony. I am just full of myself but very, very loved and happy

NAME: Nij (renamed Ozzie)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/Bearded Collie mix (?)
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: Approx 4-5 yro
WEIGHT: 65#
COLOR: Gray, natural ears & tail
BIO: Bonjour, my name is Nij (rhymes with fridge and means friend/pal in Indian). I also came from Canada. I have a silky baby face, inquisitive natural ears and a lovely bushy tail. I was a stray, but I KNEW where I was going, I was out exploring and was then going to head back home. Next thing I knew I found myself at the Humane Society where they found out I was microchipped and called my folks. Well I waited and waited and they never came to get me! I couldn't understand why, because I am a good boy, housetrained, love belly rubs and don't even mind being brushed or bathed. Don't get me wrong, I do love nature, but I am looking for someone interested in a house dog. I like curling up next to you when you are reading a book or watching TV, or even to lay at your feet while you work on the computer. I get excited in the presence of other dogs, as long as we are properly introduced gradually and they are not dominant with me I don't have a problem. If you have experience working with big dogs and are willing and able to work on my manners and training around other animalsand strangers, I vow to be your faithful and obedient companion. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative but not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Ozzie was adopted 2/3/07 by a very loving family in South Bend, IN.

NAME: Pepper
BREED: Labrador Retriever, yellow
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 6 yro.
WEIGHT: 76.4#
COLOR: Yellow
BIO: Hi, my name is Pepper. I was surrendered to SCBR along with my companion Bear (see above). If at all possible, we would REALLY like to get adopted together - we have never been separated before - and my brother would really be devastated. I used to live in northern Michigan. I came from a very loving home with a nice backyard. Due to health problems, my Mom had to give us both up because she had to move into an apartment and they would not allow her to keep us. I am so gentle, just an all around sweetheart. I do walk very well on a leash. I bond very quickly. I am very good with children. If you are looking for a couple of companions that really need you - please consider opening your heart and home to me and my brother Bear - you won't regret it. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Both Bear and Pepper were adopted 10/13/07 by an absolutely wonderful, loving family in Livonia, MI. They were not only lucky to have been adopted together but have an new Mom, Sister and Brother to lavish them with the love and attention that they so desperately needed.

NAME: Raven
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (to be spayed - see below)
AGE: Approx. 5 yro
WEIGHT: 68#
COLOR: Black, docked tail, cropped ears
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Raven. I was an owner surrender to the MHS in Detroit. I was surrendered because my family came on hard times - it was nothing that I did wrong. I do like people but am a little leery of crowds. I am really looking for a family that is willing to open their heart and home to me. I am not a wild and crazy girl, I have a moderate energy level. When Second Chance picked me up they had to immediately take me to their vet because I had full-blown kennel cough - which is highly contagious. I was in complete isolation and on antibiotics for two weeks. Then once my immune system has recovered I will be spayed and brought UTD on all my vaccinations. As sick as I have been the vet said that I was a wonderful girl and no problem at all. I am housetrained. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard to adopt me. I will be UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm tested and spayed prior to adoption. I am probably not cat friendly. I should be ready to go home mid-March.
**UPDATE: Raven was adopted 3/14/07 by a very wonderful and loving family in Corunna, MI. This family had previously adopted Natasha, but were only blessed with her company for a couple of years. Raven not only has a new forever family, but also has a 2yro Bouvier sister named Honey to keep her company.

NAME: Riley
BREED: Bouvier/Kuvasz
GENDER: Female (needs to be spayed)
AGE: 10 weeks
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black & Tan Brindle, natural ears and tail
RESCUED:
BIO: Hi there, my name is Riley. I was dropped off in a parking lot in a box along with my sister when I was only a couple of weeks old. I was adopted a couple of days ago by a family that thought they would be able to handle a puppy - but they decided differently. When they brought me back they were in tears because I AM a wonderful puppy. I was just too much for someone who has never raised a puppy before. (They have decided to keep their eyes open for an adult dog in the future.) Being a puppy, I have endless energy and I really need to go to a home with another dog to wear me out. I am now 17#, I am housetrained, UTD on all vaccinations. I am one BIG baby! When the other dogs have enough of me and try to put me in my place I will cry like I have been beaten. My foster Mom said that I get so carried away that all the other dogs will come running, check me out and look at her like "what's with her?" So even though I am big, I am still a baby and very sensitive. I am very smart, I have some sort of herding dog in me, I can already stalk and chase. I have a beautiful brindle coat. I am ready for a family with another dog and a completely fenced and secure yard. Please fill out an application if you think I might fit into your heart and household. I will probably reach at least 80# when fully grown. Because I am so young I have not been spayed yet - a spay certificate will have to be signed by my new parents.
**UPDATE: Riley was adopted 2/11/07 by a wonderful woman in St Clair Shores, MI.

NAME: ROCKY (renamed Roscoe)
BREED: Mini/Standard Schnauzer
GENDER: Male (Neutered)
AGE: 6 months young
WEIGHT: 15#
COLOR: Silver/Grey
BIO: Hi there, my name is Rocky. Am I not the most gorgeous boy you have ever seen? I was surrendered because my family did a lot of traveling and they didn't think it was fair to me. I am a very good boy, housetrained, I know basic commands and walk very well on leash. I get along great with children. I am UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Rocky (Roscoe) was adopted 9/30/07 by a very loving family in London, Ontario. Rocky not only has a new loving family, but also a sister named Lexi (also one of our adoptees).

NAME: SANDY (renamed Sadie)
BREED: Shih Tzu
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Approx 1 yro.
WEIGHT: 13.8#
COLOR: Beige & Black
BIO: This is dear little Sandy. She was found tied to a post near the gas pups at a gas station. The imbecile that previously owned her evidently just dumped her there. Sandy was so infested with fleas that she was anemic and we had to build her up in order to safely spay her. The poor little girl was given four flea baths in a row before the water stopped running red with blood. Sandy is housetrained, walks great on a leash, crates very well, barks if she has to go potty. She just loves attention (can't figure out why - possibly due to the lack of with her previous owner). Sandy is not an obnoxious yappy girl - she is a real love. Can you find it in your heart to love this little waif and show her what true kindness and affection really feels like? Sandy gets along fine with other dogs, children (no toddlers please) and is possibly cat friendly. She also loves to play with toys and people.&nbs p; Sandy is UTD on vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt this little girl.
**UPDATE: Sandy was adopted 10/13/07 by a very loving family in Redford, MI.

NAME: Sherry
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 3 yro.
WEIGHT: 76#
COLOR: Dark gray brindle, docked tail, cropped ears
BIO: Hi, my name is Sherry. I was surrendered to the MI Humane Society in Detroit by a family that had to move and couldn't take me with them. I am housetrained, walk well on a leash and I get along great with everyone. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me.
**UPDATE: Sherry was adopted 9/15/07 by a very compassionate and loving woman in Sauk Village, IL. She had just lost her previous Bouvier Belle and couldn't stand the thought of not having a companion Bouvier to love. She also adopted Bella, knowing that she wouldn't have too many years to enjoy her, but wanting to make what time she had left never wanting for love or attention.

NAME: Suki
BREED: Bouvier des Flanders
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 10/01/03
WEIGHT: 30#
COLOR: Black, natural ears and tail
BIO: My name is Suki. Originally I was picked up by SCBR as a stray in Wichita, KS and classified as a young Bouvier des Flandres. I was adopted out to a family in Chicago, IL and they had two small children. Because of my size, their vet thought I was probably a Portuguese Water dog , but I don't have webbed feet. I am very small for a Bouvier, so if you love the breed, but can't handle the size - I am the girl for you. Everything was going well until just recently when my family decided I could no longer stay with them. When I was originally adopted out I was all bubbly and full or love, when I came back to rescue I was very skittish and hand-shy. Possibly the hustle/bustle of young children and their friends was just too much for me. However, in the short time that I have been back in rescue, I have become very loving and kissable. I am housetrained, get along with other dogs and people. I really need a home where there are no young children to torment me - if you have children they must be "dog friendly". You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Suki was adopted 7/8/07 to a fabulous and loving family from Fenton, MI. Suki was just full of kisses and reminded them so much of their beloved Bouvier that they just recently had to say goodbye to.

NAME: Toby (renamed Loki)
BREED: Doberman Pinscher/Labrador Retriever mix (?)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born late July 2007
WEIGHT: approx 25#
COLOR: Black & brown - natural ears & tail
BIO: Hi there, my name is Toby. The picture of me "peeking" around the flower pot was taken when I first came into rescue. The newer pictue (taken 12/13/07) is of me holding my christmas stocking and hoping that Santa Paws will be kind enough to fill it up with my new forever family. I was found abandoned in an apple orchard. I am a real lovebug - I just want to be snuggled and in your lap. I am UTD on all vaccinations. I have been checked by the vet and all systems are go. I LOVE to play with other dogs and children and would really like to find a home that has both. I am very clean, house & crate trained already. I catch on very quickly and do know some commands. From the size of my paws I will probably be about 70-80# when full grown. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard in order to adopt me. I am pretty cat friendly - as long as the cat can put up with my playful personality.
**UPDATE: Well Toby got his Christmas wish today, 12/23/07. He wished Santa would put a new forever family in his Christmas stocking - and he did. Toby was adopted by a wonderful and loving family in Ann Arbor, MI.
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is a picture of me, my new forever Mom, and forever sister. I am having the time of my life at Doggie Day care, I am in the "big dog" room and get to play with dogs twice my size. The cat is still not quite sure of me, but we are making progress.

I am desperately looking for a forever family without young children that would be willing to give me the opportunity to prove myself as a loving and faithful companion. I just want to run and play and have fun at the rescue farm. But, I really would like to have my own home and my own family that could teach me all the things that I need to be taught and give me a refresher course on the things that I already know, but may have conveniently forgotten. You must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations - heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.

NAME: Zeke
BREED: Boxer (mix)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born January 2007
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Brindle, natural ears and tail
BIO: Well hello there, my name is Zeke. I am currently being fostered in Almont, MI. I was originally adopted when I was two months old. I am a really great dog, very lovable and very goofy. My goofy personality will win you over. I have been going to obedience training and am doing quite well with my commands (sit, down, sit-stays, down-stays, heel, come, shake). I am a very obedient dog as long as you let me know that you are the one in-charge. I am a high-drive dog and very eager to please. I am house trained and crate trained as well. I have not been allowed on the furniture but am very content laying at the foot of your bed. I was raised with three children: 2, 4 & 6 and I just love to play. My only bad traits (which I am working on) is that I will sometimes jump on people especially if they greet me all giggly; and I will counter-surf if you leave something in my reach. I do love giving kisses, I will let you know when I need to go potty, and I love going for walks. I am UTD on all vaccinations. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard to adopt me. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Zeke was adopted 12/21/07 by a wonderful family.
