ADOPTED 2005

NAME: Angel
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: born 10/7/99
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black/gray, natural ears docked tail
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Angel was originally adopted from New York. When Angel was brought to the groomer, she appeared to be in such poor health that the groomer refused to give her back to the owners. They turned her over to the groomer. The groomer took her to the vets and then to a specialist. Evidentally Angel had an allergic reaction to a vaccination she received earlier and her entire immune system had been compromised. She does not like to be crated because she "lived" in the basement at her former home. Angel should probably go to home where there are no other dogs. She is housetrained, very loving, a couch potato, intensive, obedient. All of her hair had fallen out from the medication she was on but is coming back in nicely. She is off of the medications and is doing just fine now. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE:Angel was adopted 10/29/05 by a wonderful, loving and caring gentleman in Southfield, MI that had been owned by Bouviers most of his life. He just recently lost his beloved Crissy and has been devasted by not having a friend and companion to come home to.

NAME: Baloo "Lou"
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: born 5/27/03
WEIGHT: 83#
COLOR: Light Gray, docked tail, natural ears
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Baloo, but I like to be called Lou. I have been shuffled around more than a deck of cards. I was adopted when I was only three months old from a shelter in Canada but returned because I was too active for my owner (duh, I was a puppy). I was then adopted by an elderly gentleman that used a cane to get around and kept outdoors. After seven months he took me to animal control because he couldnít care for me. Animal control released me to a rescue in Canada because I really am a good boy, just young and had not been taught a lot of manners. They kept me for a couple of weeks and from there I went to a foster home that was considering adopting me. But because of my high prey-drive things didnít work out there either. Because of my many moves in such a short time I am desperately looking for a forever home. I am housetrained now and am working on building my confidence. I promise to be good boy if you just give me a little time and direction. I do get along with other dogs, but would have to be supervised when it comes to food until I realize that this is not going to be my last meal. I prefer to go to an experienced Bouvier owner that has the patience and understanding for my breed. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Baloo "Lou" was adopted 9/6/05 by a very loving and understanding family that drove all the way to Michigan from Anniston, AL to adopt him. It was love at first site for everyone.

NAME: Bear
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 3 years young.
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears and tail.
SURRENDERED: By family because he barked when left outside all the time.
PERSONALITY: Bear is housetrained, and would make a wonderful companion for another dog and family. Gets along great with everyone. Very personable, willing to learn, very obedient. We have had no problem with barking while he has been in our care. Bear needs a family that is willing to make him "part" of their family. He adores attention and would turn himself inside out for a kind word or big hug. Bear was very overweight when we received him and he is trimming down nicely. Bear is such a comedian that if he was to be compared to a human he has the personality of Oliver Hardy from Laurel & Hardy (I am dating myself here :-) Bear is a wonderful boy and will compliment any home. The one picture is of BearMust have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Bear was adopted 4/2/05 by an absolutely wonderful, caring and loving family that drove over from Menasha, WI. Bear not only has a new Mom and Dad, but also has a 10yro female Bouvier sister. Bear made the trip home with absolutely no problems, and his new "sister" was very delighted to meet him - the feeling was mutual.

NAME: Bessie
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres mix?
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 6 months young
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Gray brindle
SURRENDERED: By family in Flint, MI that came on hard times
PERSONALITY: Bessie is a real cutie pie. She is housetrained, loves children, playing fetch, swimming. Knows basic commands. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE:Bessie was adopted "sight unseen" by a wonderful family in Grosse Pointe Park, MI that has two young children which is just what Bessie needs. (Picture to follow).

NAME: Bojangles (Beau)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 3-4 yro.?
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black, natural ears & tail (left ear is erect, right ear is floppy)
RESCUED: 12/26/03 from shelter in Medina OH
PERSONALITY: Good boy, a little standoffish at first, but warms up shortly. Rides well in a car, appears to be housetrained. He was one matted, foul smelling mess when he was picked up by Lauren. We received a call on Christmas Eve from the shelter, but it was too late to go and get him Ė so he had to spend Christmas in "jail". But we arranged to pick him up bright and early the day after Christmas Ė so at least he had a Happy New Year J Gets along fine with other dogs Ė but wouldnít mind being an only child. Not cat friendly. UTD on all vaccinations. Must have completely fenced and secure yard
**UPDATE: Well, today (2/26/05) was the luckiest day in Bojangles life. His new Mom and Dad drove here all the way from Delanson, NY along with his new sister, Daisy. It was love at first sight - and we could not be happier for Bojangles. He has been waiting for over a year to tug at the right persons heartstrings and his perseverance and patience has finally won out. It just goes to show that anything worth while is worth waiting.

NAME: Bonnie "Bon"
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female
AGE: 10-12?
WEIGHT: 85-90#
COLOR: Black, docked tail & natural ears
RESCUED: By a caring rescue person from Pit Bull rescue
PERSONALITY: This is so sad. Another rescue person (Pit Bull Rescue) was at a gas station and saw a man with a Bouvier in his truck. She asked if she could see his dog and he said she could. Evidentally the owners of the dog passed away and the family didnít want her because she was so old, she was on her way to be put down. The rescue person asked if she could have her and he agreed to surrender her. She couldnít bear the thought of Bon (thatís what he called her) being put to sleep just because she was old and he didnít want her. Bon is a very loving girl. She is possibly deaf and doesnít appear to see very well. She has learned to come back to the door when she is let out to go potty. She usually just comes in and sits in her corner. She is no trouble at all. She is not food aggressive and will eat side by side with the other dogs. Bon just needs someone to spend her golden years with and that will love her.
**UPDATE: Will miracles never cease. We received a call from another Bouvier person explaining that her sister's friend lived next door to the former owners of Bonnie. The owners did not pass away, but were put in assisted living in another state. This is the same Bonnie that we received a call a few months ago asking if we would take her back and we said we would. Rather than bringing her to us the heartless family was going to have her put to sleep. Thank goodness they got lost on the way to the vet and the Pit Bull rescue girl intercepted and saved her life. We even called Bonnie's vet to see if they knew anything and they said that she was given to a rescue. Thankfully this wonderful woman saw Bonnie and her story on our website and contacted us. We will be transporting Bonnie to her final forever home where she will be loved and cherished for her remaining years. Bonnie will be living in Harper Woods, MI. Her loving forever Mom said she wanted to take her in because she is an old girl and she currently has an old girl named Sophie that is dying of lung cancer and it is just breaking her heart.

NAME: Buddy
BREED: Pointer
GENDER: Male (neutered).
AGE: 3-4 Years Young (?).
WEIGHT: 70#
COLOR: White with dark brown face, nose, ears and lips - slight freckling on front legs.
RESCUED: We found him huddled in a snowdrift on the side of the road, scared, cold and hungry.
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Buddy and I have been on the rescue farm for about a year. I am obedience trained and mind very well. I am housetrained and get along well with other dogs and older children. As much as I love it on the farm and am grateful that they saved me from freezing to death - I sure would love to have a home and family that I could call my own. I am much prettier in person than the pictures show - after all it was awful cold when these pictures were taken. Please give me a chance - you won't regret it. Completely fenced and secured yard required. UTD on all vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Buddy was finally adopted 10/8/05 by a wonderful and caring family in Wayne, MI. Buddy's new Dad used to raise field champion English Pointers. Now that he is retired George & Buddy will get to spend the whole day together. It was love at first sight. Buddy's new Mom & Dad went out and bought him all kinds of neat stuff for his arrival. George needed a new "Buddy" to spend his days with and Buddy desperately needed a new Mom & Dad that could love and appreciate him.

NAME: Buddy II (renamed Henry)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres / Airedale mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 11-12 months young
WEIGHT: approx. 50#
COLOR: Black (pepper & salt), natural ears and tail
RESCUED: From a shelter in Morley, MI
PERSONALITY: Hi there, my name is Buddy. My Dad was a Bouvier and my Mom was an Airedale so I guess that makes me a Bouvdale? I was picked up as a stray along with my brother Tripper. I am housetrained, crate trained and know how to use a "doggie door". I get along fantastic with other dogs and love people. I love car rides and going for walks. I am a really good boy and I just know you will fall in love with me as soon as you meet me. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Adopted 7/17/05 by a fantastic family in Kalamazoo, MI. They had previously adopted Cleo & Nite (2004) and just recently had to say goodbye to their beloved Bouvier, Nicholas. Buddy has no idea how lucky he is going to be.

NAME: Buddy & Scruffy
BREED: Standard Schnauzer (mix?)
GENDER: Male's
AGE: 2-3 yro.
WEIGHT: Buddy 35#, Scruffy 27#
COLOR: Silver & gray, natural ears & tails
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Buddy (the bigger boy) and my brotherís name is Scruffy (the smaller and shy one). We were surrendered to a shelter in Oklahoma because our Dad is being deployed overseas. We were purchased and have lived together since we were about 12 weeks old. The shelter thought we were Bouvier/Briard mixes but due to our size and characteristics we are most likely Standard Schnauzers or mixes. Our guardian angel, Tara from Beagle/Lab Rescue in OK, put a hold on us because being owner surrenders we could be euthanized immediately. The law says they have to hold strays for a couple of days but surrenders arenít given any consideration. If at all possible, we would love to be adopted together Ė we have never been apart. Tara contacted other rescues to see if they were interested and the shelter allowed her to put a 24 hour hold on us. The interested rescue never showed up and we were three cages away from being euthanized when Tara came and saved us. Second Chance Bouvier Rescue said they would make arrangements to get us transported to Michigan, so we were taken to a vet and boarded until we were neutered and updated on shots. We are both housebroken and would love nothing more than for you to make a permanent place in your heart and home for us. Tara took us to the airport in OK at 5am for our long flight to Michigan. Scruffy and I handled the flight quite well, everyone at Continental Airlines thought we were just the sweetest little things they had ever seen. We cried at first because we had to be flown in separate crates, this was the first time we were ever apart. Once we were picked up at the airport we were so happy to be able to cuddle with each other again. It was touch and go for a while when we didnít think anyone was going to come for us, but our prayers were answered and her name is Tara. We are very lovable, and walk well on a leash. We get along fantastic with people and other dogs. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard. Heartworm negative.
**UPDATE: Buddy & Scruffy were adopted 11/5/05 by an absolutely wonderful, loving and caring woman in Jeffersonville, VT. Because of the distance and the fact that she was so willing to take both of the brothers together we met her in Buffalo, NY. As soon as they saw their new Mom, they knew they had just died and gone to heaven. They could not have ever found a more loving Mom than the one they now have.

NAME: Brutus
BREED: Lab mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2 yro.
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black/brown brindle.
RESCUED: From Genesee County Humane Society as a stray. His time was up and they felt he was just too good of a dog to be euthanized.
PERSONALITY: Brutus is housetrained. Brutus is a pretty good sized boy and has matured quite a bit from the time we rescued him. He loves to play fetch and is pretty active for his size. He is very strong and we wouldn't recommend him with small children due to his size. He does fairly well on leash. He is extremely affectionate and loves to give kisses despite his intimidating look. He is an absolute love. He is active and would need a nice yard with some room to run and of course play fetch. He minds very well and lets you know when he has to go potty. He loves rawhide chewy sticks. He gets along well with other dogs. These are not the best pictures but he is so affectionate and tries to give kisses rather than pose for his pictures. He is a wonderful dog and it will break his caregivers heart to see him leave - but he desperately needs a family to call his own. We can't believe that he has not already been adopted by now. Must have completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Brutus was adopted 2/19/05 by a wonderful family in Livonia, MI

NAME: Caffrey
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: born 3/20/02
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Gray brindle, docked tail, natural ears
SURRENDERED: by family in Ohio
PERSONALITY: Caffrey is a good boy. He is housetrained and obedient. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.

NAME: Cash
BREED: Pug mix? (Possibly a Puggle)
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 6-7 Months
WEIGHT: 21#
COLOR: Tan with black markings
RESCUED: Found running loose. Owner was located but decided they could not afford to keep him
PERSONALITY: Cash is still a little shy and confused as to what is going on. He is as cute as a bug, very friendly and loves attention. Appears to be partially housetrained. Neat and clean in his crate. Gets along with medium to small dogs, is a little leary of larger dogs. Still very puppy but should be easily trainable. Loves to cuddle and be on your lap. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard

NAME: Chico
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres/Terrier mix?
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 3-4yro
WEIGHT: 35#
COLOR: Black, natural ears and tail
RESCUED: From a high kill shelter in TN
PERSONALITY: Grab yourself a kleenex while I tell you my story. My name is Chico and I am a real sweetheart. When Bouvier Rescue came down to TN to pick me up I was definitely a happy-camper. I slept on the front seat and rode all the way to MI with no problems at all. While taking me out of the car they noticed my blanket was covered with ticks, fleas and lice. I was immediately given a medicated bath and they spent about six hours hand-picking the live & engorged ticks off of my little body. They stopped counting after 100. As much as it hurt, I didnít care because I knew I was safe and would be feeling better shortly. The next day they took me to their vet and thatís when my world fell apart. I was not only anemic from all the blood being sucked out of me, but I was also heartworm positive. I went through my first heartworm treatment like a real champ. Everyone has been so impressed because after all I have been through I am still a real love muffin. I am housetrained and absolutely adore playing with children and other dogs. Canít you find it in your heart to make room for me? I promise you my undieing love and devotion. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Chico was adopted 11/12/05 by a fantastic family in LaSalle, Ontario, Canada. Chico not only has a new forever family but will join other four legged animals. This very loving family has always made room in their heart and home for the less fortunate and most needy of rescues.

NAME: Chessie

AGE: 12-18 months young (?).
WEIGHT: 75#

RESCUED: Found huddled up against a fence on a dark, lonely, country road. No tags, or collar.
PERSONALITY: Chessie just loves people and attention. May be house trained because she is very neat and clean in her kennel. Does not do well with other dogs but would make a wonderful companion. Completely fenced and secured yard required. UTD on all vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Chessie was adopted 4/9/05 by a wonderful family in Dexter, MI.

NAME: Chewy
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 2 yro.
WEIGHT: 78.8#
COLOR: Black brindle, docked & cropped
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY:
**UPDATE:Chewy was adopted 1/29/05 by a very loving family in Beverly Hills, MI. These wonderful people adopted their female Bouv, Kuma, from us about five years ago. They just recently had to say goodbye to their 16yro Dalmation and the entire family was in desperate need of another companion. Here are pictures of Chewy with her reindog antlers on, and Chewy with her new sister Kuma and her new "Forever Mom".

NAME: Fatty
BREED: Dalmation
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2 years young (9/6/02)
COLOR: Black on White

NAME: Sadie
BREED: Dalmation
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 7 years young (12/8/97)
COLOR: Black on White
SURRENDERED: By family in Wayne, MI
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Fatty, I am the handsome one with the black collar, and my Mom's name is Sadie, she is the pretty one with the red collar. We are both housetrained, get along great with children, other dogs and will tolerate cats. I do have one blue eye and one brown eye, but I am not deaf and have absolutely no problem hearing. As a matter of fact, I can hear the light go on when you open the refrigerator door :-) My Mom and I have a dilema, where we live there are no dogs allowed and up until recently we have been able to fool the landlord - but the jig is up and we have to find a new home. My "two-legged" Mom is devastated and will only part with us if we are adopted out together. Me and my Mom are very well behaved, and would love to be adopted by a caring family with a big heart and capable of giving lots of hugs and kisses. We are both very healthy and promise to be good if you could find it in your heart to take us both on. My Mom is a real snuggler and is more mellow than I am - but I am not a hyper dog I am just younger than she is. We will give you many years of love and companionship and promise that you will never regret your decision if you adopt the two of us. We are very low-maintenance. We are both UTD on vaccinations and heartworm negative. We do require a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE: Both Fatty & his Mom Sadie were adopted 4/17/05 by an absolutely wonderful family in Westland, MI. The family had a pair of Dalmations, Daisy & Domino, for many years and just recently lost their beloved Domino. Fatty and Sadie made a quick check of their new home and yard, said "hi" to their new neighbors, and immediately found their toy box by the fireplace. Within the short amount of time that we were there they had both already mastered their "doggie door". This is just the perfect family and I am sure they will give them many years of love and companionship.

NAME: Fiona
BREED: Tibetan Terrier mix (Bearded Collie?)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 10-12 Months Young.
WEIGHT: 35#
COLOR: Black, natural ears and tail.
RESCUED: From Kansas Hmne Socieety in Wichita, KS.
PERSONALITY: Fiona was picked up as a stray along with her sister Faith. We drove to Wichita, KS to pick them both up. Fiona is a very bubbly and adorable little girl with a very loving heart. She does like other dogs, but prefers males as a companion. She has a super soft and fuzzy coat and keeps herself neat and clean. Not cat friendly. UTD on vaccinations, heartworm negative. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE: Fiona was adopted 2/5/05 by a very loving family in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.

NAME: Flossie
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres (AKC)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 4-29-96
WEIGHT: 80#
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped
SURRENDERED: Due to death in family
PERSONALITY: Well hello, my name is Flossie, and I am very lonely and in dire need of a pair of loving arms to surround me. My former owner, who was the love of my life, passed away after a lengthy illness and no one in the family wanted to keep me. I was taken to a groomer/boarder along with my 2yro companion and was anxiously waiting for my owner to recover - but it wasn't meant to be. My companion was immediately adopted because she was so young, however I was not. The kind lady that was taking care of me would have loved to keep me, but she already had quite a few dogs of her own as well as cats, and also felt that I deserved some TLC and a new family of my own to help mend my broken heart. I am housetrained, and obedient. I get along well with adults. Although I do get along with some of the dogs at the rescue farm, I tend to be quite Alpha and would most likely do better as an only child. I just love going on car rides with my caregiver and have turned into quite the "velcro" dog. I went through my surgery without any problems and received a clean bill of health from the vet. I am UTD on vaccinations, and not cat friendly. You must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE: Well, today was the day Flossie has been dreaming of. She was adopted by an absolutely wonderful man in Kalamazoo, MI. He brought his male Bouvier, Angus, with him and everyone hit it off fantastic.

NAME: Gabriel "Gabe"
BREED: Golden Retriever
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 7-8yro
WEIGHT: 50#
COLOR: golden
RESCUED: Found running in Almont, MI in the middle of rush-hour traffic
PERSONALITY: Gabriel (named because he had to have had a Guardian Angel on his shoulder at the time) was found running in traffic by our groomer. He is very friendly and came right to her when she stopped traffic and opened her car door. We have not had him neutered yet because we are hopeing that his owner is looking for him. He was found without a collar on and we had him checked for a micro-chip. Gabe is an absolute love and we are hopeing that someone is desperately looking for him. If not, we will have him neutered and vaccinated and he will make a very welcome addition to any family. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard.
**UPDATE: Gabriel was neutered and updated on all of his shots. He was adopted 9/17/05 by a "Golden Lover" in Riverview MI.

NAME: Gepetto (renamed U-Too)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2 Years Young.
WEIGHT: 70#
COLOR: Gray brindle, natural ears and tail.
RESCUED: From the Cheboygan County Humane Society.
PERSONALITY: The picture on your top left is Gepetto's mug shot that was taken at the shelter. The other pictures were taken shortly after he was groomed. When we had Gepetto groomed we found out that he had an entropiad eyelid and had it surgically corrected. For those that don't know what that is - it is when the eyelid turns under slightly but just enough that the eyelashes irritate the eye and make it water. Gepetto is a very sweet and cuddly guy, housetrained, very lovable, quite loyal and affectionate. He gets along fine with other dogs, he is better now with males since he was neutered. Gepetto can be bull-headed at times, but is easily swayed with a biscuit, treat or kind word, otherwise he minds quite well. He is fairly low-key, very relaxed and quiet. A really good boy. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Gepetto (U-Too) was adopted 2/19/05 by a very loving family in Waterford, MI. U-Too not only has a new loving family but also has a new brother named Smokey, an 8yro Bouvier
**RECENT UPDATE: We just received an email from Gepetto's forever Mom. Evidentally they were undecided what to rename him (they weren't too kean on the name he had from the start - it just didn't fit him). While trying to come up with an appropriate new name they all like they kept on saying things like "come on Smokey and "you too" so it stuck! They are all very happy they chose to adopt a rescue rather than purchase a puppy. They also said "U-Too is now secure, calm, happy and just like another area rug on the floor".

NAME: Gilligan
BREED: Bouvier/Irish Wolfhound mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 3-4yro?
WEIGHT: 80#
COLOR: Gray/Black Brindle, natural ears, docked tail
RESCUED: 3/24/05 from Oakland County Animal Control
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Gilligan! No, I wasn't stranded on an island, it was much worse. I was found as a stray and tested positive for heartworm. I am such a sweet and handsome boy that it would be very hard for you to resist me once you meet me. I am housetrained and get along great with other dogs and people. The bald spot that you see on my "rump" is where I had to be shaved to receive my heartworm treatment. Everyone at the vet's office fell in love with me and said that I did really good considering how painful the heartworm treatment is. I have fully recovered from my heartworm treatment and am anxiously counting the days until someone welcomes me into their heart and home. I am UTD on vaccinations and I think I might even be cat friendly. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE: Because of everything that Gilligan has gone thru, the heartworm treatment, the tumor surgery, and the expectation of being adopted by two families that changed their mind and never bothered to let us know, we have decided to make Gilligan a permanent resident of Second Chance Bouvier Rescue. He is such a wonderful and loving boy and would have made anyone a perfect companion. We could not see his heart being broken again by another family coming out and letting him think he was being adopted and then changing their mind, so we decided that we would keep him on the farm in the house and give him the unconditional love that he deserves and was so willing to give to everyone else.
**FINAL UPDATE: Please click on "In Loving Memory of" on our home page.

NAME: Ginger
BREED: Treeing Walker Hound
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 12-18 months young.
WEIGHT: .
COLOR: Tri-Color
RESCUED: 2/7/04 from Genesee County Humane Society (scheduled for euthanasia that day)
PERSONALITY: What a little "doll-baby". Definitely not the typical hyper-bouncy TWH. GInger is housetrained and crate trained and rides well in a car. Ginger is fantastic with adults, children and other dogs. She will make an absolutely wonderful companion and best friend to one lucky family. Ginger is very special to us and needs someone to prove to her that life and love can be unconditional and good. When we took Ginger in we found out that she was not only heartworm positive - but also pregnant. Because Ginger most likely would not survive the labor and delivery of pups the vets all decided it was in her best interest to spay her first and to treat her for heartworm as soon as she was physically recovered enough from the surgery. Ginger came through the surgery with flying colors, but is very depressed because she can't find her babies. Although she will not be available for adoption for about a month, so she can properly be treated and re-evaluated, we are still taking applications. UTD on all vaccinations. Must have completely fenced and secure yard. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Ginger adopted her new family on 4/8/05 in Leonard, MI. Ginger went to a very kind and loving family that will appreciate her for a long time to come.

NAME: Ginger II
BREED: Staffordshire Bull Terrier
GENDER: Female (spayed).
AGE: approx 18 months
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Fawn and white
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Can you please help me? My name is Ginger, and yes I am a Pit Bull - but I am not the kind you hear about every day. I am at the Cheboygan Animal Shelter. They have hoped and prayed that a kind and loving person would adopt me but it hasn't happen yet and my time is just about up. I am a really good girl (they call me an absolute doll) and that is why they have been hanging on to me. They even offered to drive me wherever I needed to go - as long as it is a great home. So I must be really special. I was found as a stray and the public kept calling the shelter, but they could never catch up with me. Eventually several people were able to surround me and the animal control officer went in for the "capture". I was tired of eating off the streets and wondering where I could safely rest my body at night. I took one look at the animal control officer and ran so fast towards him that I almost knocked him down and drowned him with my kisses. I was so glad to be saved that I was all tail wags and kisses! Everyone who meets me is startled until they REALLY meet me. When the shelter is closed I am allowed to run loose within the building. My favorite thing is laying in the office chair, or at the feet of the person at the desk. I just want to be with someone. I love other dogs, especially puppies and am actually afraid of cats. I love children - but like any muscular dog - should be placed with someone who is very familiar with my breed and who will thoroughly enjoy me. A Pit Bull is not a dog for a first time dog owner. We have to be socialized constantly - both with animals and people. We really are a loving dog when properly handled. Again, I am a SUPER dog, but I am also a bully breed and have to be handled by a strong person with "bully breed knowledge". I desperately need a home, but it has to be the right one!! If you are, or know of such a person - please, please, pass this info along - and contact either Carmen or Mary at cheboyganpets@freeway.net. I am UTD on all vaccinations. It's not my fault that I am a Pit Bull and have to suffer the stigma that is associated with my breed. It's not fair that I should have to face the only alternative left for me if no one adopts me. Please if you can find it in your heart to give me a chance, you will never regret it. All I ask for is someone to call my own
**UPDATE:Ginger was adopted by a wonderful family in Northern MI.

NAME: Gucci II
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4-5 Yro.
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Fawn, cropped ears, natural tail
RESCUED: From Franklin County Animal Shelter, Columbus, OH.
PERSONALITY: Gucci has been adopted twice and returned due to his "acting out". Although he has been a perfect gentleman at the farm, he tends to forget his housetraining and manners if given the opportunity. Therefore he MUST go to a Bouvier saavy adopter that has a lot of love and patience and is willing to give him the opportunity to adjust to his new situation. As you can tell from the before and after pictures - Gucci was a definite "diamond in the rough" when he was rescued. He looked like a matted "lion dog". He had maggots living on his entire rear end and the shelter shaved him down from the ribs back just to get rid of the maggots and medicate him. With us he apears housetrained, very lovable once he gets to know you, gets along great with other dogs and older children. We have never before come across a Bouvier that was cropped and not docked - if anything they are docked and not cropped - so this was a first for all of us. We would like to thank Judy for springing him from the shelter and bringing him to Dayton, OH for us. We would especially like to thank Maureen for working miracles with her clippers and grooming him so we were able to see just how gorgeous a dog he really is. After he was groomed he acted like a new dog - so proud and relaxed - finally being able to move without all the mats pulling on his skin. Gucci is UTD on all vaccinations. Not cat friendly. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE:Gucci II was taken to his new forever home in Okemos, MI on 1/21/05. His new Mom came down to the farm with her daughter, met and fell in love with Gucci.

NAME: Henna
BREED: Australian Cattle Dog (purebred)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: Born 7/15/03
WEIGHT: 43#
COLOR: Red & White.
SURRENDERED: By family in Monroe, MI
PERSONALITY: Henna is a beautiful girl. She is house and crate trained. Henna has the typical ACD personality as far as exhuberance and excitement. She gets along fine with people, but we would not necessarily recommend her to a family with small children or other animals. Henna came from a family that had her littermate as well as a Bouvier mix. She was purchased from a reputable ACD breeder in Canada. We were told that Henna did not do well with the other two female dogs that she lived with and therefore was resigned to a crate and only let out by herself. Her owners did not feel that this was the life they wanted her to live and asked if we could help, one-on-one she was a joy to live with. We have had no problem, whatsoever, with Henna with regard to adults and older children. Henna needs a family with a completely fenced and secure yard, that can give her their undivided love and attention. She is and can be a very good girl as long as she is properly introduced. Henna is UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Henna was surrendered to an Australian Cattle Dog Rescue, that had contacted us. We felt that she would be better placed with the right home by people that know and understand her specific breed

NAME: Holly (renamed Jackie Holly Berry)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: .3-4 Yro.
WEIGHT: 111#
COLOR: Light Fawn, natural ears, natural tail.
RESCUED: From Franklin County Animal Shelter, Columbus, OH
PERSONALITY: The Holly is certainly beautiful this time of year, and our Holly is no exception. She came to us with deplorable mats inside her ears, between her toes, and all over her sweet body. Her dew claws had been unattended for so long that they had completely circled and started to grow back into the skin. She was a stray in Franklin County, OH and FCAS contacted us to rescue her. She is a phenomenal Bouvier, wanting only to be safe, loved and sheltered. Her favorite activity is lying in front of a warm fireplace to nap. She is now working on basic obedience and she is learning so fast. She is both housetrained and crate trained. Holly appears to be a low-energy gal. Cats do not seem to be of strong interest and she seems to get along with other dogs, as well. Holly is very tall and strong, therefore a family without very young/small children would be recommended, though she loves to lay in the floor in front of the fireplace and be loved on by any kind soul. She has spent time with children ranging from 10-20 and also has spent time in Petsmart just socializing. The pictures on the left were taken at the shelter, the ones on the right were taken with her "new holiday do" in front of the Chrismas tree. Holly is currently being fostered in the Columbus, OH area by one of our Guardian Angels (Judy). If at all possible we would like to adopt her out of her foster home rather than transport her back to Michigan and save her the stress of being temporarily re-homed again. Holly is UTD on all vaccinations. Appears cat friendly. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE: Well today, 2/11/05, was Holly's lucky day! Her new Mom came down and picked her up and took her home to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Holly's new Mom was surprised by how tall she was, but there is a whole lot of heart in those long legs. Holly's new Mom is one exceptional lady. She was willing to make the long trip from Canada to Ohio to give Holly the best Valentines present she could ever get

NAME: Jasmine
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 2 yro
WEIGHT: 47#
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped
SURRENDERED: Jasmine was surrendered by her former owners
PERSONALITY:
**UPDATE: Jasmine was adopted by a very patient and understanding family in Rochester, MI. She not only got a wonderful and loving new forever family but also has a sister (Sheltie). Jasmine's new family had been patiently waiting for quite a few months for us to rescue a dog that that would fit into their household. As soon as Jasmine came to us she might as well have had their names on her. It was love at first sight and she was adopted right after she had been spayed. All is well, Jasmine couldn't be happier and neither could her new family. In the few weeks since Jasmine had been adopted she has already gained 12# and is looking fantastic (as you can tell from the pictures they sent us).

NAME: Jasper
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: Born 06/16/01
WEIGHT: 70#
COLOR: Fawn, natural ears, docked tail.
SURRENDERED: By a groomer in Indiana. Jasper had been kept outside, chained up all of his life. He was not very well cared for or socialized when she rescued him.
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Jasper and I am a real "ladies man". When I was first rescued, I was very leery of men, but always did and still do love women. I have done a complete turn-around since I arrived at the rescue farm. I was given a lot of love and rehabilitation to heal the psychological scars I received from my prior owner. I absolutely love my female caretaker to death, and thanks to her husband and sons have realized that men were not put on this earth to torture and abuse me. Ideally I would like to go to a family without young children. Because of my upbringing, and never being around children, I might be prone to "over protect" my new family out of fear of losing it again. It took me a little while, but I have now learned how it feels to be loved and I am so happy now. I am very neat and clean in my kennel, so if I am not completely housetrained, I should only require a refresher course. The original pictures were taken the day I was rescued - I was not a happy camper. Thank goodness these new pictures taken the other day when I was groomed will give you a better idea as to just how handsome a fellow I really am. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negtive. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Jasper was adopted 8/25/05 by a wonderful woman in Traverse City, MI. Jasper not only has a ne forever Mom but also a fawn Bouvier sister named Ginger. She wanted Jasper bad enough to get her yard completely fenced to insure his as well as his sister Ginger's safety.

NAME: Judy
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female
AGE: 10-11-yro
WEIGHT: 50#
COLOR: Dark gray, docked & cropped
RESCUED: From a shelter in Ohio
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Judy (named after the "guardian angel" that picked me up). I was left tied to the front of the animal shelter, no collar, no note, not even a name tag. At first glance they didnít know what I was because of the deplorable condition I was in. Thankfully someone knew that I was a Bouvier and contacted Bouvier rescue. I am a perfect example of our "throw away society". As you can see from the pictures I was a definite diamond in the rough. You wouldnít want for a better dog. I am housetrained and get along fantastic with other dogs. I am looking for a very special person that is willing to let me spend my golden years with them. Must have a completely fenced & secure yard. UTD on vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Judy has been adopted by the president of Second Chance Bouvier Rescue. She took so long to come out of her shell and realize that she was put on this earth to love. We just don't have the heart to confuse or stress her any more by putting her through and adoption. She has adopted very well to the rescue farm and will remain in our care for how ever long we are blessed with her company.
**FINAL UPDATE: Please click on "In Loving Memory of" on our home page.

NAME: Katie (renamed Gracie)
BREED: Bouvier/Briard mix?
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 9-10 months young.
WEIGHT: app. 50#
COLOR: Silver-gray,erect ears and natural tail.
RESCUED: From Genesee County, MI
PERSONALITY: Dear Katie was found huddled in the culvert of a drainage ditch, lovingly laying on top of her brother who had been hit and killed by a car. Who knows how long she had been there. She was wet, cold, terrified, but still trying to comfort, protect and keep her brother warm. When we took her to the vet she had a severe urinary tract infection - which we successfully treated with medication. Katie has made such a wonderful adjustment from the terrified, starving little waif that she was - to a loving, attentive little girl that would make anyone a wonderful and endearing companion. Katie is housetrained, freshly groomed and ready to make a difference in someone's heart and home. Katie has the looks and personality of a "Hollywood-Disney" dog. Just one look at that precious face and you can't help but smile. The top picture is the way she looked when we picked her up, the next two were after she had been groomed and brushed - what a difference. Katie gets along great with people and other dogs. UTD on vaccinations. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE:Katie was adopted 2/5/05 to a very loving and compassionate family in Manchester, MI. Katie has a new brother named Duffy (Wheaton Terrier) who has been mourning the loss of his beloved companion, Mattie (Cocker Spaniel). Katie and Duffy hit it off very well. Katie had just recently lost her brother, and Duffy recently lost his sister so they both needed each other for the same reasons.
**MOST RECENT UPDATE: Here are a couple of pictures of Gracie (aka Katie) with her new brother Duffy. As you can see they have bonded quite well. Gracie is happy & healthy and is quickly learning in her training class.

NAME: Kippy (renamed Angus)
BREED: Bouvier or Giant Schnauzer/possible Lab mix.
GENDER: Male (neutered).
AGE: 8-10 Months Young.
WEIGHT: 39lbs.
COLOR: Black, white chest blaze, natural ears and tail.
RESCUED: 10/7/04 from the Bloomington Animal Control in Bloomington, IN.
PERSONALITY: Housetrained. Very lovable, gets along well with other dogs and people in general. Kippy was originally one of many puppies being sold out of a box in a department store parking lot. Someone contacted the Bloomington shelter and they sent a representative out and talked the owners into relinquishing the rest of the puppies to the shelter. Kippy and his brother Benny were adopted to two different families through the shelter. Kippy was later surrendered to the shelter because he was "too puppy". We contacted the shelter and made arrangements to pick Kippy and his brother Benny up and we had them transported to Dayton, OH. Kippy was adopted while in Dayton, OH - and we made arrangements for Benny to be transferred from Dayton, OH to us in Michigan. UTD on vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE:Kippy was adopted out to a family in Ohio and returned to our "halfway house" in Dayton. He was returned because they could not housetrain him. Well, his foster Mom, got him to use a doggie door within a couple of days. Kippy has successfully completed at least two obedience classes with flying colors. His new Mom just adores him and he absolutely adores her in return. He just needed some "special time" and a lot of companionship. Kippy gets to go to work with his Mom every day and has the run of the house and everyones heart.

NAME: Lexi
BREED: Bouvier/Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen mix(?)
GENDER: Female (spayed).
AGE: 3-4 years young
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears and tail.
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Hi my name is Lexi. I was rescued along with my sister Lucy and we were both "diamonds in the rough" as you can tell from the top picture. I was so badly matted that they had me listed as a male because they couldn't tell for sure. Once rescued and shaved down - the truth was known! I was rescued from an animal shelter in Jackson MI that was about to sell us both for research. Originally my sister and I were going to be placed together but a wise decision was made to adopt us separately so that we could develop our own personalities. We had never known the good life - we were kept together in a kennel/cage since birth. I am housetrained and would turn inside out just for a kind word or show of affection. I promise to make someone VERY happy. Considering the deplorable condition and lack of love and attention that I was shown in my previous life I am still very trusting and willing to please. I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. I do require a completely fenced and secure yard to exercise and play in. I get along fantastic with other dogs and love children and people. Because I was deprived of attention for so long, I am a real "velcro" dog. I would love nothing more than to spend every waking moment with my new family. I travel well and walk well on a leash. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Lexi was adopted by a wonder and caring family from London, Ontario, Canada. The entire family drove (two and four legged) to meet and greet with Lexi. Everyone hit it off very well and Lexi got to go to her new forever home.

NAME: Lucy
BREED: Bouvier/Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen mix(?)
GENDER: Female (spayed).
AGE: 3-4 years young
WEIGHT: #
COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears and tail.
RESCUED: From Jackson County.
PERSONALITY: Hi everybody, my name is Lucy! I am housetrained, get along great with kids and other dogs. I was rescued along with my sister Samantha (adopted 8/20/05 and renamed Lexi) and we were both "diamonds in the rough". We were rescued from an animal shelter that was about to sell us both for research. Originally we were listed as Bouvier/Terrier mixes - but there is definitely Basset in there (just look at my stubby legs and long body). Because we had bonded so well to each other and found no reason to socialize with anyone else when together - it was decided that we should be separated and form our own personalities. We had never known the good life - we were kept together in a cage since birth. I would turn myself inside-out just for a kind word or show of affection. I promise to make someone VERY happy. Considering the deplorable condition and lack of love and attention that I have been shown all my life I am still very trusting and willing to please. I am hopeing that I too can find a wonderful loving home as my sister just did. I have so much to offer - won't you please give me a chance? I am UTD on all vaccinations. I do require a completely fenced and secure yard to exercise and play in. Not cat friendly. Heartworm negative.
**UPDATE:Lucy was finally adopted 9/6/05 by a very loving and understanding couple in Westland, MI. She is still very timid but immediately warmed up to her new Mom & Dad. Lucy also has three feline companions that sleep in her new dog bed because she prefers to lay on the couch with Mom & Dad. She is so laid back that she even gives and receives kisses from her new feline friends.

NAME: Madison (renamed Guiness)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 1-2 years young.
WEIGHT: 60#
COLOR: Gray brindle, natural ears and tail.
RESCUED: 12/23/04 from Madison Hts Animal Shelter, picked up as a stray.
PERSONALITY: Madison should have a cape and a big red "S" on his chest. He is able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Madison would be a perfect candidate for agility. He is lovable, friendly, a real people pleaser. He bonds very quickly with everyone he meets. A really good boy. Appears to be housetrained because he is very neat and clean in his run. Absolutely adores people and would get along wonderfully with children. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.

NAME: Margie
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 5+ Yro.
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black brindle, docked tail, cropped ears.
RESCUED: From Detroit Animal Control - confiscated.
PERSONALITY: Margie is very energetic and playful and quite the love. She didn't listen too well when she first came, but has finally settled in and obeys quite well. She is affectionate and loves a lot of attention. She prefers that there not be a lot of commotion. A little obedience training would be a definite plus, but her manners seem to be in check for the most part. She loves to prance around with her half deflated basketball and toss it around in the yard. She has come around quite well since we rescued her and all it took was patience and love. Margie does well with other dogs large and small. She is a wonderful girl and would make a great addition to any family, large or small. Not cat friendly. UTD on vaccinations, heartworm negative. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE:Margie was officially adopted 1/15/05, however was not able to go to her new "forever" home until today 2/5/05. She was adopted by a very loving and caring woman in Livonia, MI that has been owned by Bouviers for over 30 years. Regretfully Margies's new Mom had to say goodby to Honey Bear and just could not imagine what life would be like without the love and companionship of another Bouvier.

PERSONALITY: Max has a wonderful personality and disposition. He gets along with other female dogs and came from a family with six children. Max was supposed to be a purebred Bouvier that was purchased from a breeder in Warren, MI - according to the people that surrendered him Ė however he is not. Upon taking him to our vet, we also found out that he is heartworm positive and is currently being treated. Neat and clean in his crate. COMPLETELY FENCED AND SECURED YARD REQUIRED. UTD on all vaccinations. Definitely not cat friendly.

Must have completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE:Melvin was adopted 2/5/05 by a very loving family in Livonia, MI. They just love him to death (as you can see from the picture taken on Melvins' adoption day.

The second is a picture (one of many) that we received on 6/24/06 when Melvin and his Mom came to a function we were at in Redford Twp, MI. Melvin is doing fantastic. He is the apple of his Mom's eye. It was so good to see them both and to see how well Melvin was doing.

NAME: Miss Beasley
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 12 mos young
WEIGHT: approx 50#
COLOR: Gray brindle, natural ears and tail
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Miss Beasley. I was saved by Great Dane Rescue in TN from a back-yard-breeder. When I was picked up I was filthy and my ears were so badly infected and dirty that I was immediately taken to the vet for treatment. Because of the diligent and compassionate rescue person (Tonya) my ears are just fine now. When I was first picked up I was afraid of my own shadow. I had little to no socialization, care, training or love. Now I am so happy to be alive and will do just about anything for a kind word or pat on the head. I am housetrained, walk well on leash, get along great with other dogs and people in general. I do love to ride in cars, I came all the way from TN to MI sitting on the front seat and checking out the scenery. I would make a welcome addition to any family. NAME: Murphy
BREED: Bouvier/Giant Schnauzer mix
GENDER: Male (neutered).
AGE: 15 months young
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black (pepper&salt), natural ears, docked tail
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Hi, my name is Murphy and I am a real lover boy!!! I am housetrained, walk well on a leash, absolutely adore children and get along great with other dogs. I originally was rescued from a shelter in Bloomington IN. I am a real people pleaser and will do anything for love or a kind word. I love going for walks and for rides. I was originally adopted by a family with three small children that I loved dearly and that loved me in return. When my adoptive parents found out that there was another baby on the way they felt that I might be too "puppy" to have around a newborn and the choice was made to return me to the rescue. I know they loved me, there wasn't a dry eye in the house when they brought me back. I took it very hard when they left without me, but have settled back into the rescue scheme very well. Do you have room in your heart and home for a cute, adorable, loving little guy like me? I am UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and microchipped. I do require a completely fenced and secure yard. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Murphy was adopted 12/18/05 by w wonderful family in Grosse Ile, MI. Murphy will now be getting what he wanted for Christmas, a loving forever family and a couple of young children to love.

NAME: Nikki
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 10 years?
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black, docked & cropped.
RESCUED: Surrendered by owners to vet in Battle Creek, MI to be euthanized.
PERSONALITY: We received a call from the vet that Nikki was surrendered to. The previous owners brought her in to be euthanized because they no longer wanted her. This was a sweet girl that gave her previous owners the best companion for all these years and because she was getting older they couldn't repay her kindness and devotion by loving her for her remaining years. When we picked Nikki up and took her to our vet we found out that she was bleeding from the nose, ears and rectum. She was originally diagnosed with Leukemia. After many, many trips to the specialist and all the poking and prodding that was done to her and all the medications we had her on, she appears to be just fine now. Nikki is a dear sweet girl. All of her hair has come back in and she is just a real love to be around. She will follow you to the end of the earth. She is loving, devoted and there are just not enough wonderful things that could be said about her. There is not a mean bone in her body. She gets along wonderfully with everyone and everything. The sad news is that Nikki has gone blind, possibly from the combination of her illness, treatments, age. She has adapted very well to her surroundings. She may be blind, but she can see love, compassion and understanding very well and that is exactly what we are looking for in a forever family for this dear, sweet girl. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Will miracles never cease. Nikki was adopted by an absolutely wonder, loving and compassionate woman in W. Bloomfield, MI. Nikki's new Mom has always opened her heart and home to our senior dogs. Nikki's new Mom should have a halo and wings. She specifically asked for Nikki, knowing her problems and was willing to accommodate her in any way imaginable. We have spoken to Nikki's new Mom and everything is just fantastic. Nikki has had no problems whatsoever adapting to her new environment and was laying at her Mom's feet when we spoke on the phone. Bless you, Este, there are not enough people in this world willing to make such a commitment to these very special rescues!
**RECENT UPDATE: Here is the latest picture of dear sweet Nikki. Isn't she precious? We received this picture with a short note from Nikki's loving Mom. Even though she is blind, we are all so proud of her because her new Mom says she is doing so well going through the house without bumping into anything. Nikki's new Mom loves her so much and we are sure that Nikki loves and adores her new Mom in return.

NAME: Parker
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4 years young.
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black, natural ears and docked tail.
RESCUED: From vet clinic in Plymouth, MI
PERSONALITY: Parker was picked up by the local police department and brought to the vet because they do not have a local animal shelter to hold strays. The groomer said: " What a dog! He is definitely a people dog! A real clown! He will do a low, sad howl if he is left alone or doesn't get his share of attention. While trying to groom him, he thought he should sit on her lap. He would back up and plop right in her lap as if to say OK let's us BOTH get comfy". Parker is full of love and kisses. He was very excited when he was all cleaned up. Although he was an intact male (but is not now), he didn't have the negative, pushy, crabby male attitude that a lot of males have when being groomed -- he is a definite winner. Parker is housetrained, loving and gets along with people and other dogs. He has a very even disposition and would make someone a very loving and devoted companion. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly
**UPDATE: Parker was adopted 3/29/05 by a very loving family in Grosse Pte Woods, MI that had been waiting for quite a while for the "Mr. Right" - well Parker fit the bill to a "T".

NAME: Rudy
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 6 months young
WEIGHT: 30#
COLOR: Black brindle, natural ears & tail
RESCUED: 5/6/05 from Logan County Animal Control, Lincoln, IL
PERSONALITY: Hi, everybody, my name is Rudy! I am just a baby but a real bundle of love. I am housetrained and LOVE to play. I get along fantastic with other dogs and love children. I am very intelligent, I know my name and will come when called - not bad for a baby, huh?. I also like car rides. I rode all the way home from IL with out any problems. Look at the neat green "squeaky toy" that I found when I got to the rescue. I would really love to go to a young and energetic family that has another dog and/or children that will play with me. I love to play and I love to go for walks. I take my green squeaky with me where ever I go. I don't think anyone played with me or paid much attention to me - because I am having the time of my life at the farm running, fetching, playing and of course eating. I am UTD on all vaccinations. I do require a completely fenced and secure yard to exercise and play in. I may get along with cats, but don't know yet because I haven't seen any since I got to Michigan.
**UPDATE: Rudy was adopted 5/15/05 by a very wonderful and loving family in Port Huron, MI. We have already received a wonderful update letting us know that Rudy is doing fantastic. He even got to go to work with his Mom and lay by her feet as she was working.

NAME: Sam
BREED: Bearded Collie
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4-5 years young
WEIGHT: 65#
COLOR: Gray on white, natural ears and tail
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Sam was brought to our gates by a package delivery person that found him running loose on a secluded road. His hair was all matted and he looked like a giant "pupsicle" (as you can tell from the before and after pictures). We took him to the groomer and she said he definitely was a purebred Bearded Collie. He isn't "show quality" but she does a couple of Beardies that are identical to him; same features, eyes, hair, size, build & attitude. Sam is a little bull-headed, not mean or aggressive at all, just a little stubborn when you try to make him do something - like sit and stay while being groomed :-) Sam is a very strong dog and will need someone who is stronger than him to make him do what they want. He is very polite, does not jump on you or act up. He can not be bought with treats, he is very sure of himself, and someone will have to earn his trust. He will definitely make someone a wonderful, devoted companion. Sam gets along well with other dogs and people. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations. **We found out that Sam is heartworm positive and are treating him now Ė which is most likely why his owner let him go. So many people will not spend the extra few dollars to give their dogs heartworm preventative Ė instead they ignore the situation and jeopardize the dogs life. Not cat friendly
**UPDATE: Sam was adopted 3/19/05 by a very loving and compassionate family in Flat Rock, MI. Sam not only has a new forever family, but also has a new forever (Bearded Collie) sister named Shelby.

NAME: Snoopy (renamed Shiloh)
BREED: Beagle
GENDER: Male (neutered).
AGE: 10-12 months young
WEIGHT: 14.6#
COLOR:
RESCUED:
PERSONALITY: Hi everybody, my name was Snoopy, but I was renamed Shiloh. I was adopted before my picture and bio even went up on the website. I was just wandering down the road, minding my own business when a nice policeman picked me up and brought me to the rescue. We all checked the papers and the vets, but evidentally my owners weren't interested in trying to find me, because no one reported me missing. I am crate trained and just full of energy. I was nothing but skin and bones when I was saved, but my new family promises to fatten me up in no time. I am UTD on vaccinations and heartworm negative. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard.
**UPDATE: Snoopy (Shiloh) was adopted 6/8/05 by a wonderful family in Redford, MI. They already have adopted another rescue Beagle named Parker as well as a Pomeranian named Trixie that came from a puppy mill. Shiloh is having the time of his life with his new family.

NAME: Sassy
BREED: Manchester Terrier (MinPin)
GENDER: Female (spayed)
AGE: 3 yro
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black & Tan, docked & cropped
SURRENDERED: By family in Wayne, MI that had too many animals
PERSONALITY: What a doll baby!! Sassy would just melt your heart. If you were looking for someone to cuddle with and treat like a baby - Sassy is the one. She is just a little peanut. She absolutely adores being held and loves to be talked to. She gets along fine with other animals - but because of her size you would have to be very careful. She is UTD on all vaccinations and heartworm negative. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard
**UPDATE: Sassy was adopted by a very loving family in Imlay City, MI.

NAME: Timothy
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres mix
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 4 months young
WEIGHT:
COLOR: Black, natural ears and natural tail
RESCUED: 5/17/05 from Bloomington Indiana Animal Shelter
PERSONALITY: Hi everybody, my name is Timothy. Am I a cutie or what? I never even made it to the website as available because I had people waiting in line for me when I arrived. I am housetrained and in love with the world. I never knew that life could be so great. My new Mom came out and saw me on Thursday but we had to wait for my new Dad to get home so he could see me too. Well, I guess I passed inspection because I am officially adopted. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on vaccinations.
**UPDATE: Timothy was adopted 5/21/05 by a fantastic family in Almont, MI. All of their children are grown but they have quite a few young grandchildren that Timothy will just love playing with and growing up with.

NAME: Touche (renamed TRAMP)
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres (possibly Giant Schnauzer mix)?
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 1 year young.
WEIGHT: approx. 40#
COLOR: Black, natural ears and docked tail, white goatee and chest blaze.
RESCUED: Kansas City, MO
PERSONALITY: Touche is such a dear sweet boy. He was found by animal control hiding in a garbage can. We drove down to save him and bring him back to Michigan. When we got him back and took him to the vets, we thought there was a possibility that he had Warblers disease due to the fact that he "warbled" when he walked. He tested negative for Warblers, but when the x-rays came back we found out that his poor little body had been riddled with BB's. The vet thinks that someone used his precious little body for "target practice"; and there is a strong possibility that there might be a BB lodged in a muscle or close to a nerve that is causing his odd gait. Touche is a dear, sweet boy that truly deserves a wonderful loving home. He is great with other dogs and meets everyone with love and enthusiasm. He is housetrained, but will probably need a little refresher course just to keep him on track. He has been through so much, and deserves nothing less than all the love and attention he obviously has missed out on in his very short life time. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. UTD on all vaccinations, heartworm negative. Not cat friendly.
**UPDATE: Touche was adopted 2/11/05 by a very loving and compassionate woman in Colts Neck, NJ. She had just lost her beloved "Bear" but was willing to make room in her heart and home for sweet Touche

NAME: Willie (renamed Samie)
BREED: Beagle (miniature)
GENDER: Male (neutered).
AGE: 1.5 yro?
WEIGHT: 10#
COLOR: Tri-colored
RESCUED: Found as a stray
PERSONALITY: Hi there, my name is Willie. Now I ask you, am I not just the cutest little beagle you have ever seen in your life? Yup, I am no bigger than a whisper and could almost fit in your pocket. They were going to name me Dinky - but I talked them out of it. After all, big things do come in small packages - and that's me! The people that found me checked all of the papers and checked with the authorities and no one was looking for me - oh well, it's their loss and your gain. My first day at the rescue farm was spent playing with a Boxer puppy and a Bouvier puppy - we had the time of our lives. I am housetrained, love children and get all great with other dogs. I am UTD on all vaccinations and very energetic. Must have a completely fenced and secure yard. I am probably cat friendly, after all most cats are bigger than I am.
**UPDATE: Willie was adopted 6/5/05 by a very loving family in Hartland, MI. They had to say goodbye to their beloved 13yro Beagle named Mollie and were looking to fill the void in their hearts and home.

NAME: Winston
BREED: Bouvier des Flandres
GENDER: Male (neutered)
AGE: 2 yro
WEIGHT:
COLOR:
SURRENDERED: By family in Northern Michigan
PERSONALITY: Winston originally came from Florida. He was flown to MI and adopted by a family. We were contacted by the family and by another rescue to see if we could assist in his surrender and replacement. When we picked Winston up he was flea bitten, stressed out, way under weight and full of open sores
**UPDATE: Winston was adopted by a very loving family in Sterling Hts, MI. They had already adopted adopted two Bouviers from us previously, and lost them due to medical conditions. This family immediately took Winston into their hearts and home and you can see what a tremendous turn around Winston has made. Here is a picture of Winston in his "Old Navy" outfit when he was taken to the Bouv Walk. We didn't have any printable pictures to put up showing how badly he looked when he arrived - but the main thing is that these wonderful people took him in, fed him, vetted him and love him to death. That's what it's all about. WInston's Mom has MS and was pleasantly surprised to find out how willing Winston was to help. When she carries the garbage out, Winston gets underneath the bag and supports the weight of it to make it easier on his loving Mom.
